Thread: Dripping fluid, melting objects... Anyone have any methods to share?!? | Forum: Carrara
I am not really understanding the "why" of it, but everyone has their own ideas of how things should be done.
There is a whole industry build up around applications to take on post production.
Multi-pass rendering is an option in most 3D applications for just that reason.

Quote - I try to avoid postwork like its a plague, outside of distance blurs, I prefer all output be direct from the scene...

Can I ask what is your reasoning behind this?
I kind of think of an image or animation directly out of the render room as only half finished.

Thread: Next question "freeze" | Forum: Carrara
As far as I know there is no way to freeze part of a model so it can't be selected or moved in the vm.
If you are looking to start modeling using objects as reference (vs background pictures) a cheap copy of Hexagon would get you there much faster.
(unless you are on a mac- or laptop - then all bets are off)

Thread: Can CAR5 Unwrap an obj.. | Forum: Carrara
You can get some nice results from this:

It's free and works stand alone.

Thread: .FBX or .X exporter? | Forum: Carrara
Opps, just read up and see the fbx converter link was already posted.
Sorry for the double vision.

Thread: .FBX or .X exporter? | Forum: Carrara
You might give this a go:
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/item?siteID=123112&id=9256041
It is the free FBX converter from Autodesk.
It will take an fbx and turn it into a 3ds or obj file that Carrara standard could load.
Not sure if it will bring in the animation - don't think Carrara can use keys from a 3ds file, at the least you should get the mesh and textures.

Thread: FBX import question? | Forum: Carrara
It does need more work, but there is hope now with the same company now owning both parts of what you want to do.
Let them know over at DAZ.
I've asked and the more requests they get the higher up the priority list it will go.

Thread: FBX import question? | Forum: Carrara
Carrara FBX import does not support bringing in the textures. It may not trash the UVs so you might be able to reapply the textures once you have it inside of Carrara.
I am not sure if Carrara keeps the UV's from DAZ's flavor of FBX (I don't have the studio plug in).
You should be able to find out by opening the figure in the VM and looking at the UV mapping there.
If it looks like a normal daz texture template then the textures can be put back on.
I would like to find out if it can work this way.

Have you tried the replicator to get more plants with less overhead? Make a few base plants then replicate them until the city can no longer be seen. wayne k guam usa

Thread: Checkerboards are back with a vencgeance! | Forum: Carrara
I think I can see what is going on. Those 2 big yellow guys are not wearing any pants and rendo is bluring out the naughty parts. (maybe not, I've never seen that effect before) wayne k guam usa
Thread: Info on doing blood effects - pooling, splatter and then draining, etc...? | Forum: Carrara
It seems to work fine here. maybe you can put up the blood part of this scene for someone to take a look at. Are you PC or Mac? wayne k guam usa
