Must own the WW2 Destroyer to use these. The addon is in the Poser free stuff. Enjoy!

I think you need to use a positive number in the displacement value, unless you want the footprint to be higher than the sand. With a positive number, white will add thickness. Can't give you a number, because it is one of those that depends on the measurement system you're using.
Playing with the value should give you something, unless the ground plane lacks enough detail in the first place. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Thread: Lighting causes artifacts -- how to fix? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Those white lines are all at joints, like the texture map doesn't quite fit. Does it render okay with regular lighting?
After you get the figure in there, I don't think anyone will notice. That guy's head must be HUGE ;)

Thread: (OT) Let's share some laughter :) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is half truth, half joke.
The true part:
The last American survivor of the sinking of the Titanic died Saturday.
The joke part:
They were only minutes from fishing her out of the water!

Drives not being recognized can be a sign of a low system battery. Don't know if that's your problem, but it's a damn cheap fix.

You're welcome! Now, if I only understood all I know about Poser ;)

Gotcha :) Still wondering if it's just some added garbage in the header, and it they would be fixable. The actual data should be identical, I think.

If it really is a Mac BUM file (How do you know that?), open it and another BUM you know works in WordPad. Try removing the extra stuff at the beginning, and possibly end, of the file. It may work after that. Work on a COPY. I've had to do this with other supposedly universal files, though they weren't Poser.

You should have that map, Franker.
Another thing that can make something loaded look crappy is if the item uses bump maps, and was saved in PP or earlier. The bump map images will be plugged into Gradient Bump, or something like that. Unplug them and plug into Bump. That other channel is for using BUM files.

Thread: memory leak: basic questions on Poser5 and milfigs | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you're talking about the poses that inject and remove morphs, yes you can combine them, but it may make for unmanageably long scrolls. DO NOT touch anything in the !DAZ folder.
For the Mil figures, I use INJection Pose Builder. Makes a custom pose that will only inject the morphs you want to use. Apply it to a new figure to get back to what you had with the loaded figure, but with much less memory use. There's at least one other utility that does the same job, but can't remember the name.

Thread: Opinions on Daz "MorphMaster 2.5?" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
When I wrote that I was working on 3DC's Alexa 2, a rebuild of the one that had copyright problems. She was built to resemble her predecesor as much as possible, but was a whole new mesh. Besides that body fit morph, I also did some of the expressions, and all of the phonemes. They are a good example of what it can do.
Consider that the gums, teeth and tongue are not separate groups in a Poser figure, but they do have their own materials. In a morph that opens the mouth, the lower teeth, lower gums, and lower jaw must move as a group, yet the selection of the skin must falloff at a predictable rate, so as not to involve the upper lip too much, etc. If you've ever tried to select vertices through that mess in a modeling app, you can appreciate being able to select by materials, or individual meshes (how just the lower teeth and gums are selected).
I usually used several soft selections on the skin. You have good control of the selections, and you can see which vertices are hard selections, and which are in the falloff zone. Then you use rotate and translate deformers to get your morph.
The real beauty is that you can go back to any step and change the parameters of a selection, or a deformer. And you can save the command stacks, which sometimes make a good starting point for a similar morph.
Would something like that make a useful tutorial? Or do you have an example that would be better? Not that many people are going to be doing phonemes, so I'm open to ideas.

Beautiful, Schurby! That reminds me, I need to get your Studebaker out and drive it around. Thanks for the great models!
