Thank you Anthony for your response, I do have an understanding on the purpose of bump maps and their use. To make myself clear - the information I am seeking is much more specific on how the application treats the image on import before being placed on the model, i.e. does poser change the contrast - the difference in grey scale levels or curves. In one 3D app I use, I create a positive grayscale image (texture) brighten - turn up the contrast and then blur and invert the texture map then place on the model. These are some of the more specific technical responses I am looking for at this time.

I tryed the Hierarchy ed and though this would work. I would move the dial in the location in the stack but no change took place - even after receiving an ok as a check mark when placing the dial between the other dials... is ther somthing I am doing wrong?
Thread: Poser Not Finding Texture Files | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the tip but I all ready have the 4.3 version installed. I have found the problem I do believe. I have been creating my textures in PhotoShop and have been using and saving the alpha channels (make-up areas, eyebrows, etc.), as I have been working. I had not taken them out before saving to tif (since it will flatten with the channels in place)- as soon as I removed all the saved alpha channels, Poser was then happy again and loaded up my textures. It took all day to figure out this little inconvenace. Thanks Sam for your help and reply.
