sorry to be naive, but is WW really as good (and easy to use) at it looks it is?

SP with the head of V3, blackeyes, umutov's legs and blackhearted's bodymorph. And lots of postwork for shoulders etc.

Yeah...they teamed up with another company for sales in Europe, so MJW now has the same price in Euro as in Dollars, plus you have to add vat to this. Over here, this means another 21% extra. Forget it!

Thread: Greenbriar, Interposer or Riptide Plug-In? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
1/ Riptide includes material files with the .obj file. It makes importing Wavefront obj files easier and is a such, for C4D users, a very good plugin. Afaik, Maxon took care the plugin was to be free. 2/ Greenbriar did interest me but apart from some problems with it, there was also a price tag I found exaggerated. 3/ InterPOSER is much cheaper and work fine. It is still in developement, but kuroyume took care to split it up in several levels. The version we now can use is perfectly capable of bringing poser files into cinema. pixelbased textures are perfectly read and transfered but node-based materials and rigging are not there yet. These are for the pro version that is being coded right now. Despite this, kuroyume just recently updated the ltd version we have now to 2.5. Just to show he does not forget to improve what is available now. You also have good and easy contact with the developer himself, and he is open for all suggestions concerning the evolution of this plugin. So for me, there is no doubt. Price/quality, interPoser is by far the winner.

Looks great. At RDNA it is said that this character will also be available for P5. I might well be interested then... And now for an Appollonia... Is it for this that V3 and M3 became free?

Thread: Not OT but not strictly Poser - artistic merit | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The problem is that you start thinking. Thinking interferes with the creativity vibes. Before you could simply create and be happy, but now you look from a distance and you see no step ahead. What it's all about in the end is not visual, music or writing, but those odd moments when life becomes oddly "real". When you know that daily reality is a basic banality that lures you into the sleep of certainties. This is usually positive in the end as frustration leads to more energy, and this energy is needed to make a quantum-leap. But the buiding-up of the energy is a very difficult period. What happens now is that you try to force yourself into falling asleep because you think you have to. This never works. It's a question of relaxing. Try to find the root of your frustration and keep honing your skills. Add evt another app and satisfy the thinking part of yourself with thinking work to do. Occupy thinking, and the energy-leap will come in a natural way.

Thread: DAZ Packaging $%$% ??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
We download them in their own folder called "Dnnn_ItemName" where nnn is a number that started with 000 and can go up to far too high (999). We never let the exe search for anything, but have it execute itself in that same folder. Then we throw away weblinks and info files (never anything in there worth reading). Only prob is that sometimes you have to upgrade, and place a copy of a file (temporarily) into that same folder. These runtime files we keep on an external HDD and a CDRom(s), and then we place them in the Runtime folder(s). Yes, we prefer zips.

Thread: What would it take to make Poser a "Professional" application? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
-A complete overhaul of the interface and its options, prefereably with complete adaptation to personal preference. -Absolutely necessary is a window/manager on which you get a list of everything you have used in your scene and you can reselect by clicking on the object, be it a prop, a character or a light or whatever. -A second window/manager that, when selecting any object as said above, displays the properties of that selected object and allows modifying them al. -Multiple undo and redo, of ALL things, even better: a history in which you can go back to the step you like. -A toolbar that has icons for all cameras, ik on or off (four buttons),... -rock-stability -support for Hyperthreading, multiple processors and dualcores -better joints support (soft bodies, hard bodies, collision detection) -tools for doing morphing inside poser as the magnet tool is far from acceptable -etcetc and last but not least: a complete recoding that makes the "pro" version something more than a maintainance upgrade with some added options. This said: it's by far the best in its price range and, unluckily perhaps, there is no real alternative that can match it. But, even with photomaps, it is not able to give real realism due to the horrendous joints. No billion-polied Vicky 9 can do something about that.

Thread: Poser 6 out of memory work around maybe found | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Perhaps it's also a question of how much memory you have assigned to it? I remember that in OS9 this had to be done (for Photoshop), and in Win also. Take care when running XP home or pro and having too much memory. Some apps slow down with 2gig. This has nothing to do with the apps, but with a silly and unnecessary limit that has been set by MS on memory as the (more expensive) Server version can easily handle 4gigs of RAM.

Thread: Why can't Poser 6 import 3ds files? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Francemi: Just like 2D with tiff, jpg, targa, bmp, psd, gif,..., 3D has many formats (ways data are stored). When you save as a pz3, only Poser and perhaps some linked apps will recognise your file. Just like c4d is for Cinema 4D. More often people save as obj, which comes from a company called Wavefront, or vrlm if virtual reality is wanted, or... 3DS comes from the makers of 3DSMax, one of the biggies of 3D. Many files that are created in max can be freely downloaded from the net, and it is great that Poser supports the import of 3DS files so you can open them in Poser. For export, I guess it's the other way around. It's always a choice, trying to find a good way of sharing with others.

Thread: Why can't Poser 6 import 3ds files? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
When I bought P5 and got my disks, I tried to install Poser, but it wouldn't. I don't remember exactly why, only that there was (is) a problem with the disk. I was quite disappointed and, living in Europe, it looked like a difficult situation having to contact CL etc... So, following an intuition, I copied the entire disk to my HDD and tried to install from there. This worked flawlessly. There might be a similar kind of problem on your disk. Some detail that helps in translating 3ds files into Poser language? You can eventually download the free Wings3D modeller which can import 3DS and export OBJ files. This way you can at least go on with your digital projects.
