Thread: Makehuman to Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - thanks all, I'm just gonna use blender as I have it already
Blender has an Import - Export script addon for Makehuman. Not used it yet so no idea how good/bad it is.

Primary browser here is Opera as I like some of the features it has with Firefox as backup. I only use IE for windows Update.
Thread: How to change properties | Forum: Blender
After you add the object, on the left hand side underneath the tool shelf, there is a panel where you can change the properties. Alternatively, press F6 and a pop up window will display the same information. Once you move the object though, those properties become fixed so it will need to be changed in edit mode if the parameters are wrong

Thread: What's a good place to learn how to use blender? | Forum: Blender
I would go for Blendercookie as well. All the tuts there are well demonstrated and easy to follow. One of its plus's is that when things don't work out as expected, an explanation of why its happened and how to recover usually follows. This isn't everybody's cup of tea during a tutorial but knowing what to do when things go wrong is also part of the learning curve.
Look through all of the tuts there, even if you're not particularly interested in that area as you will pick up things that will make life easier in all areas.
Knowing the shortcut keys just makes things go that little bit faster as in any other program and getting to know the most common will make things easier. Pretty much all the commands you will need can be selected via the menu bars as well if you want the point and click approach. The lesser known shortcuts will come as and when you need them. The section at the bottom of the link that LaurieA gave above lists the most common ones.
Another one to look at is Blenderguru.com. Andrew waffles a bit but does show a lot of good info, particularly about using nodes.
Thread: What is the best way to upgrade from 2.49 to 2.56? | Forum: Blender
The duplication in filename is due to one of the files being the python script text (*.py) and the other being a compiled version of the script (*pyc). Nothing to worry about.
Thread: What is the best way to upgrade from 2.49 to 2.56? | Forum: Blender
The configuration files are in the config folder which is generally under the 2.56 folder but may vary with build depending on who compiles them if grabbed from Garaphicall.org.
Also can depend on whether it is a zipped version or a self installer. Check first the installation folder and then in Documents and settings/user/Blender Foundation/ . . .
setup.startup.blend is the shipped startup default configuration file .
btfont.ttf and .Blanguages are also default files.
startup.blend should be the custom startup file.
Recent-files txt is the file list on the splash screen.
bookmarks.txt (don't know what this is for)
That is all that is in my folder, there may be more however.
Hope that helps.
Thread: Insert vertices in edit mode? | Forum: Blender
I work in windows and the CTRL+Left click will create a single vertex at the mouse pointer position and connect them with an edge if the CTRL key is held down.
To change the key combination go into the User Preferences and select Input>3DView(Global)>Mesh>Edit, this will allow you to edit the key combinations. I'm not absolutely sure but I believe the command you should look for is mesh_dupli_extrude_cursor. (this is based only on the fact that it is the only combination that has the CTRL+Action mouse shortcut) .
Expand that selection and you will see some boxes, one of which will be tick marked. Try changing the the tickmark to something else and testing. There is a box for cmd which I believe is for MAC but I could be wrong.
If you mess up you should be able to restore everything by hitting the Restore button.
Thread: Is there a way to add textures to a model in Blender and be shown in preview | Forum: Blender
Put your cursor over the 3D view and press N to bring up the object properties panel. Expand the Display panel and the option appears near the bottom.

Thread: Tank - posable tread | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The M1 included with P8 is a poseable prop not a figure and does not have poseable tracks. If you go into wireframe, it can be seen that the upper run of track links under the side armour are missing.
I can't remember exactly but I think it is a licensed conversion from Gunpoint3D. Perhaps VP could add the missing links and rig the tracks for you.
Thread: Where to advertise Poser Content for free??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Try the Content creators guild. Not been there for a while but they used to allow advertising to products hosted on other other sites. IIRC that was the original reason for setting the site up.
Thread: Loading a background reference image | Forum: Blender
There is also a add-on in 2.5 called Import Images as planes.
Enable the Add on in the User Preferences and you can import an image as a seperate object who's aspect ratio will match the chosen image. This way you can move said (image) object for alignment and the image will remain in view whatever the camera position.
Once set up, just disable the selection and render options in the outliner and your ready to go. Very useful to avoid fiddling around with the background image options.
