oops... I forgot I wrote this, and about ten minutes after I did, I saw the Forums in the menu, I would have mentioned that, but I was having "one of those days" if ya know what I mean. :P Thanks! MIke
Thread: Poser Export OBJ to View Strange Tip | Forum: Vue
Do you mean "fang" in the .obj file itself, or in the name of the file? Really..this is terrible news!! I just spent my whole night renaming all my Poser characters and props to "Fang_0001", "Fang_0002", etc., etc, and now I won't be able to use them?! How about "Sharp_Enlogated_Teeth"? Will that work? ;) Hey you don't suppose Vue is playing a Halloween trick, do you? :) Mike
Thread: Help!! Poser to Vue3.1 | Forum: Vue
We'll have to get on him about that. :) Anyway, editing the mtl isn't hard, but rather it's time consuming. I'm constantly creating new Poser characters and posing them, and each new export brings a new mtl which has to be edited, so now I simply have all my regular textures copied to the same folder in Vue (all 600MB of them!)...it's a wste of HD space, but it saves time. Remember the utility I told you about that edits the mtl file automatically? Well, the guy's been busy with some real paying jobs, but he's going to be working on it again soon. :) Cheers, Mike

Thread: Running out of memory ? | Forum: Vue
Hi, Yeah...what Guitta said! Anyway, I downloaded it too, and made it through 37 minutes of rendering to Preview at 500x375 pixels, without a problem, but it still had over an hour to go and I didn't want to wait any longer, but I will try it again later since I have to go out and do some shopping---let the PC do it's thing while I'm away. Anyway, I've rendered far larger scenes to final mode without any trouble. When I set your scene to Final, after about ten minutes of rendering, the time thingie said it would take about 4 more hours. My longest render time to date was about 6 hours. I'm running Windows 98 SE with a 600 mhz Athlon, 128 MB RAM, and while I was rendering your scene (in preview), I was using IE, and my Zone Alarm always runs in the background, as well as Norton System Doctor, Mc Affee, MSN Messenger, and my Eudora mail. One thing I noticed is that your lights are all set pretty high as far as shadows go. That will also greatly slow down rendering speed, and probably tax your RAM, as well. Offhand, I'd say you probably need to adjust your memory settings, but you said you did that, so I don't know. Maybe try to uninstall Vue and re-install it? Just a wild guess, but doing that has helped with other problems. Also, e-on would probably like to have the file to check it out themselves...who knows, maybe it's a bug, but like I said, I have no reason to doubt that I would be able to render it completely. One thing you didn't mention is, how far does it get before you get the error message? Sorry to be of so little help. :( Cheers, Mike
Thread: ok...this may be silly..but...where can i find the following items? | Forum: Vue
Sacred Rose, As far as the catsuit goes, it's included with Poser 4, and probably Poser 3, as well. I could email you the P4 catsuit .cr2 file if you want, but it'll only work if you have Poser 4, since that's where the geometry .obj file is. If they haven't changed the geometry from Poser 3 to 4, I guess it would work in 3, too. Which version do you have? As far as the other stuff goes, you'd probably have more luck asking in the Poser forum. BTW, just to mention it, I've been making some custom hair models, whick I'm planning on putting in the Free Stuff section as soon as get them tweaked some more..MT's and all. :) Cheers, Mike email: mowenj@mediaone.net
Thread: Easter Egg? | Forum: Bryce
Fast Traxx, I still can't remember what it was, but I read about it either here in this forum or somewhere else on this site. It was referred to by an abbreviated term, and all I remember thinking at the time was that it sounded like something I would want to know about, but I didn't yet have Bryce, so I wasn't worried about it right away. I know-- I'm no help, am I? LOL Sinv-jica, Thanks for the link-- I'll check it out.

Then again, you can also apply the textures manually, once in Vue. Bloodsong is right about editing the mtl file, but if you have the HD space for it, it's probably alot quicker to copy the textures to the folder with the OBJ file. Bloodsong, you're right, but editing an mtl is not for the weak hearted, ya know. ;) Oohh.. I'm gonna get yelled at for this tomorrow at Wagner's chat....yes, I remembered to be in the correct month this time. :) Cheerios, Mike

Bantha, I think it looks pretty good. :) Actually, for some reason it reminds me of the game, Diablo, but that might be because I was just playing it last night. :) I especially like the lighting, but I would vary the materials on the mountain some, and add some more rock, and the middle-ground could use a few more trees. When you finish it, please make sure that we get to see it! Cheers, Mike

Thanks, rcook... I'm sure that's actually the better solution than my suggestion. I do appreciate it, and I'm sure others will as well, for those who notice it, that is. :) Cheers, Mike

Sacred, Yeah! Now that is a relly good picyure you have there. :) I love the addition of the seaweeds, and the fact that you lightened it up makes the surface of the water show up much better. Good job! Cheers, Mike

Bloodsong, I hate to be OT and all, but I guess I can get away with it now! :P Only kidding..... Anyway, I've kinda temporarily lost interest in Rhino, because all of a sudden, I'm like totally into Vue, messing around with the functions and transparencies, and all that good stuff. :) I just discovered there seems to be no limit to the number of Vue materials that can be mixed, and therefore, there seems to be no limit to the number of potential materials! :) I also used Rhino to make a rather large (120 characters) 3D text, which I saved as .3ds, hoping for a small file size, with the intent of using it in a Vue pic. My 600 mhz Athlon powered Compaq took about 20 minutes to save this file from Rhino, at about 25% more polygons than normal. It became a 53 MB 3DS file when it was through. I tried to import it into Vue, but after waiting nearly half an hour, my PC crashed HARD. CFTRL+ALT+DEL didn't do anything, and I simply had to turn it off and back on again. Then I tried again, with the same result. So, I wasted a Rhino Demo save, but I think I found Vue's limit? Dammit, I KNEW I shoulda used Amorphium for 3D text! So, people, what's the largest 3D object, MB-wise, that you've been able to drag into Vue? Cheers :) Mike PS I shouldn't say I've lost interest in Rhino, but rather, I've put it on the backburner for now...but I will try the toots, bloodsong; thanks for letting me know! :)
