Hi again, Though it doesn't seem to be possible to edit the thing the way you can in Bryce...as a terrain, that is, I'm really enjoying using the lattice thingie in Vue... it makes for really great mountains! Y'all really need to try this thing out...if you have Bryce, that is. :) Cheers, Mike

Riot? Bring it on... I loved "Metal Health!" Oh wait...that's not what yer talking about, is it blush Anyway, ...uhh,...Long Live Vue!, or is that Viva Le Vue? Well, it's hard to think clearly when yer dodging assassin's bullets! But, I'm ready....got my survival gear with me, I do! BTW, does anybody know where I can get a Kevlar helmet in .vob format? It's just for a project, really... ;) Cheers, Mike PS: I'd like to thank the Academy for...ahh...skip it...

( I decided to be lazy today...there's always tomorrow ;) ) Kate, I agree that this list doesn't seem to need any moderation. I think I even wrote that to Tim...that the Vue-ers are pretty calm and get along well. :) But, I suppose it's just a technical thing that Renderosity has to have someone to point the finger at if something gets bad, or if the people get out of line or something. I definitely doubt I'll see any need to delete or ban anything or anyone. And if any misguided Brycers wanna come in here and slag or flame us, hopefully we can gently persuade them to try out the Vue demo. :) And if anyone comes here just to be mean or obnoxious...ZAPPOO..Seeya later..bye! From the Vue forum, that is. But, it's true... this is a nice and calm place, and I don't foresee any trouble. :) Thanks for the offer of help...you can bet yer grandma's cat I'm not going to be a Vue expert anytime soon! By the time I "master" Vue, they'll go and come out with version 4! Now, y'all get some new pictures into the gallery! I just put my first two in there in the past two days, and I think I'll have another one in there soon, just because I feel I ought to, but most of you are far better than I am.. I have learned alot by looking at your pictures! :) And by all means, don't forget to check out the E-on daily gallery every day. Some of the best of the best of Vue can be seen there, as well. :) Cheers! Mike PS I just learned about the daily gallery through the E-group Vue list.

I think I remember reading that she went through a major drug or alcohol problem at one point either during or after her successful years. Yes, she IS still alive, though. Mike
Thread: A little shadow problem... please help? | Forum: Vue
Was the shadow making the cube show up AS a cube? Thgat is, did it have an edge to it, or were the shadows being projected onto the gas in an undefined way? I had a similar problem yesterday, and I couldn't figure out what to do about it either. Maybe you could take a copy of the object that you want to have shadowed and flatten it and stretch it according to the angle of the light, and place IT underneath the cube, and give it a dark and fuzzy material to kind of simulate a shadow? And then figure out a way to light the original object so it's consistent with the shadows, but isn't actually casting a shadow down. I don't know if any of that would work or look real enough, but it's worth a shot. I couldn't find a way around my problem, and this just occurred to me. IO wish I didn't have to go to work now! Cheers, Mike

Kate, As far as I'm concerned, you can. :) I don't know how it all works, though, but at least you know more than I do! Cheers, Mike PS Thanks for responding...everyone else seems to be staying FAR away from this subject... ;)

I'm glad to hear it worked... I think it's safe to say that anything that can't be answered here, can be answered there, with the e-on people. Except I don't know if they answer questions such as what kind of texture to use for such and such, or things similar to that. I asked the Corel people about a problem I was having with Bryce 4 about a month ago. About a week and 1/2 later, I finally got a reply back. The real kicker was that the reply was, "Thank you for contacting Corel, we are interested in ...blah blah blah..."...It was everything BUT an answer! Don't get me wrong... I like Bryce 4, but I really would have rather seen it to have been obtained by someone else, like maybe Curious Labs. Cheers, Mike

Hi, In the #10 post here, Parkie was having trouble with the same thing, and here's what he said: What I did: 1) Un-installed Vue3 2) Defragged the Boot drive 3) Defragged the drive I had Vue installed on 4) Rebooted the computer 5) Re-installed Vue3 6) Successfully blured and object. ........................................................... I haven't had any trouble with motion blur, but I had also done a complete reformatting right before I installed Vue, due to other circumstances. I know it all seems a bit drastic, but it might be the only way for you to get it to work. I suppose that regular de-fragging is a good idea too. Since I got Norton Utilities, everything seems to be working better, and it's a helluva lot quicker than with the normal Microsoft Windows defragger. Plus, Norton runs a quick analysis and tells you if you actually need to defrag or not, and usually will recommend a "full optimization" instead, which is a much quicker process than defragging. One thing though...Norton Crash Guard will make Vue crash....but at least it can be disabled while using Vue. Otherwise, it's actually saved many of my other programs from crashing, and is a good thing. Well, I guess I'll stop plugging Norton now. ;) I hope you can get your motion blur working. If not, maybe you ought to write to e-on technical support. If it's a bug in Vue, I'm sure they'd like to fix it. Cheers, Mike

Jeff, Glad to hear it! I downloaded your texture that you posted her above and applied it to Vickie's lips only, and didn't have any trouble with it not fitting. I was just about to post when I saw your new message. When I first got Vickie, I also bought the textures to go with her, and I made the same mistake, since I was used to using "texture changes apply to entire figure" for Posette. It would have been awfully nice if Zygote could have included some info or a help file or even a simple "Read Me" with her! But, once you know this stuff, you'll never forget it! Chers, Mike PS One of these days I'm going to get around to actually finishing an entire Vickie texture and post it too. Also, good luck with the hair! yours, that is

Jeff, Have you tried simply painting on an existing Vickie texture that DOES "sit" correctly? That's usually what I will do. I don't really mess with plain UV maps anymore, except when I've made an object that I've converted to .OBJ that doesn't already have UV info. I'll take a Vickie texture and use Painter 6's "tracing paper" thing so I can see the underlying texture at 50%, and then simply paint over it, when I want to start fresh. Also, you can simply alter a pre-existing texture as I said. I'm no expert on UV maps, but it looks to me as though you're just slightly shy of making it all the way around her lips. To me, UV maps are strange and mysterious things, but I had a similar problem with Posette's eyes when I was painting over the UV texture, with no reference texture to go by. It's cool that you are so committed to making your own texture from scratch, but you'll save yourself alot of time and aggravation by finding one that's already done, and you'll learn alot by comparing it to the UV map as you do it. :) Don't let it drive you crazy man.....MUCH more fun awaits when you get to the eyes! You just have to experiment some more. Cheers, Mike

Well, first it appears as though you have the placement of the lips in your texture all wrong. Also, selecting "Texture changes apply to entire figure" is a DEFINITE No-No, as far as Vickie goes. I've personally not had a single problem with texturing her, after realizing that all body parts have to be assigned textures individually. I'd love to know how you came up with this problem... I've never seen this before. Did you try to create your own UV map for her? Still, though, that seems pretty weird....what exactly is it you did? It would be easier to help you if you gave more info. As far as I know, her lips are a part of the .OBJ mesh and can't be hidden, without simply leaving a blank and empty space which can't be textured. Mike
