Thanks again, Kate! I never would have though of that... I figured a bump map was some kind of special file conversion for only Poser to use. But, I'm learning! :) Cheers, Mike

Kate, DOH!!...right back at ya! You told me about using Vickie with Vue. Now how else would you have known that if you didn't already have Poser 4? LOL Cheers, Mike

Kate, The Bryce demo ,I think, is no longer available, at least from Meta Creations. I don't know if Corel has one available yet. Anyway, the demo was included on the Poser 4 CD :) And it's also on the Painter 6 CD. If I knew that it was OK to redistribute the demo, I'd be more than happy to do so (19 MB's). If you're interested, I will find out if it's OK for me to send you the demo version via email. If Corel (http://www.corel.com ) doesn't have a demo version available, then they're really just screwing themselves, and the fact that I bought it solely because I had the chance to try it out first is perfect testimony to that fact. So,if they DON'T have an "official" demo available, if you want, I'll email them and ask if it's OK to send you a copy. :) If you're interested, email me at mowenj@mediaone.net , and I'll get right on it... hey, I've got some of your Vue freebies :) so, I owe you one! Cheers! Mike
Thread: Victoria's eyes | Forum: Bryce
Hello everyone, and I want to say thank you to all of you! :) I haven't tried it since this morning, but I will again soon, using your suggestions. Please forgive me of my ignorance, I had no idea of the existence of Vickie's "second" eye layer... the transparent layer, that is. I managed to get her all rendering correctly in Vue d'Esprit, and now I figure I'll try her out in Bryce. I was really starting to panic there for a while, thinking that Bryce couldn't read her textures or something! Again, thank you all! Cheers, Mike

Kate, and bloodsong, Thank you both! Yes, what Kate says is true, and it works quite well...now if I could only figure out what to do about her lashes! Cheers, Mike

Chris, I'm not sure I know what you mean here.Multiple figure? She's only one figure, but if you mean to check off all the boxes so all of her is being exported, then yes, I do that. I couldn't find anything labelled, "figure_eyes_03" or anything similar. I'm assuming all of this needs to be done in Poser, prior to exporting her, because I have the same results trying to use her in Vue d'Esprit 3.1 Or do you mean that I have to export multiple frames? I never have understood what that box means, as the way I see it there is only one frame unless you have a movie going. I might add that I'm still somewhat new to Poser 4, and I've only been using Bryce for less than a week now, so I'm not familiar with the more advanced features of either program. Vickie is turning out to be even MORE of a mystery every time I use her! LOL Thanks, Mike

bloodsong, Yeah, I know what you mean about Word Pad... I had the same damn problem, but Note Pad can't open really large files. Anyway, thanks for the tip about EditPad... I found it and got it....can't say I'm much for manually editing cr2's yet, though. Probably I should learn what all that crap in there means first! Hey, though,l on the bright side, I've had no problem using the hard way for getting Poser people into Vue, textures intact... I just wish Vue would accept and render bump maps...maybe they will one day. Later, Mike

Hey, bloodsong, we heard ya the first time! Do you have any recommendations as far as text editors go? I've heard that Word Pad adds irrelevant stuff to the files. I've been trying to find the best way for manually editing various files. Thanks, Mike

Hello, When y'all say that the Poser textures have to be in the same directory as the Poser .OBJ, you mean "folder", right? Does this mean everything (hair, hair textures, any and all props and their textures, etc) has to be copied and pasted into it's own folder prior to export? Is there an easier way of doing this? Thanks much! Mike

Very cool picture! I can't figure what Melvin was thinking when he said it sucks... maybe he's like, only 12 and was hoping to see some tits.... The skeleton in the cage is a great touch, and I love the lighting and all that eerie mist. Personally, I kind of like the upside down mountains. Mike

Hello again! Thank you, both of you! I haven't checked out the toots yet, but I wanted to say thanks. I'm really starting to get into this whole Bryce thing. There is no doubt in my mind that I'll be buying the program! :) Later, Mike
Thread: Poser Looks Where? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you for the suggestion... I just discovered that I can battle the error message by continuing to press Enter or hit Okay, and after 20-45 times doing it, the character will load into Poser 4. Then, if I save it into the library right after that, the next time I won't get the error messages, so if this is what I have to do, so be it. It seems to be working every time. I already tried opening the cr2 files in Word Pad, and I don't think it had what I was looking for, but I'll try again... I probably just missed it, especially if it was at the top of the document. Thanks again! Mike

Allright! Success!... Thank you, Ghostofmacbeth! I guess I was fully-patched after all... I was overlooking exactly what you suggested here. I had been under the impression that this dialog box I was looking for would appear BEFORE choosing a place to put it, since, in Windows, that's usually the final say in the matter. I should have realized it myself, though, because Meta C's Painter 6 does the same sort of thing. Thanks again!!!! :) Take care! Mike
Thread: My poser file keeps corrupting its self | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm starting to wonder just how sensitive Poser might be to whatever else someone has on their computer. All these problems...all very different. I have had no trouble with my Poser installation, and I don't think I have the patch installed right...in any event, I've been using it without the patch for two months now, also with no troubles. Can't say I ever had a figure "spike", either in the cr2 or rsr... Mike
