Thread: Vue 4 , Poser Scenes, Open GL, Truespace files... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Currently I don't think so, but Konan has a system that may work- but I haven't yet seen it...
Thread: RAF Sector HQ is now posted in Free Stuff | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Got it! I just wish: 1. Someone would create an authentic RAF pilot... 2. They would release a new version of the "Battle of Britain" movie with all the great air combat scenes that were cut from the original version...
Thread: Images Using Vue | Forum: Vue
Hi Tesign, I was searching through the VUE gallery at Renderosity and couldn't find your name or images anywhere. Did you take all your stuff out?...

I don't know exactly what is happening myself but Lynn Fredricks, the U.S. based E-on rep who is based in Oregon has made some posts just today I think. I would suspect she or Mike will make some announcement as soon as it is officially available- as a ton of people are now ready and anxious to buy VUE 4... I'm sure Bryce 5 will have some nice new features, but having been a long-time Bryce user myself I think that their core render engine is really going to hold them back. VUE 4 promises a 40% speed increase over VUE 3.1, which is already very fast when you start throwing around a bunch of trees and plants- something that nearly chokes Bryce, especially with volumetric rendering on. (Vue 4 also promises an advanced level "2" version of their already extraordinary "Solid Growth" plant system)... The E-on software team is very small but they are hard-core fanatics about the program and seem to be throwing in the entire kitchen sink with VUE 4, especially with direct Poser scene imports and the upcoming MAC version. With Ray-Tracing, Terragen-type clouds, high quality real-looking plants- It's going to make VUE 4 a real killer-app for Poser users...

Well, the REAL proof in the pudding is to see VUE 4 load them with texture maps. Bryce only loads the mesh (like 3DS, etc.) Now- if VUE 4 can truely load a COB File WITH TEXTURES in tact, that's Coooool! (My guess, as well as hope, is that they WILL, as VUE has done it with 3DS and OBJ files...)

NASA has some o.k. space photo stuff (hehe...) But actually I was thinking of this Flaming Pear deal called "Lunar Cell". It makes some pretty neat space views. I'm sure they have NASA worried...Thread: background image sketch renders... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thread: APOLLO11 SPACE SUITE | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hey, a cool looking spacesuit. Would look great with a space shuttle model. Surprised that nobody has done a Poser animation with this- a shuttle model and that software that makes realistic earth-scape backgrounds- what's it called?...

Really great to here Vue 4 will support COB files. It's actually a really good format, especially in relation to 3DS and OBJ files. I hope this includes texture maps as well... (I use COB has an intermediate translation format- COB-2-3DS, also a good format to export mesh files from Bryce as 3DS will nearly ALWAYS crash Bryce...)
Thread: That dirt road again | Forum: Vue
I like the highlights on the trees and plants and the road looks very authentic. Sort of like the Roman Appian Way...

You need a good 5-7 gigs FREE temp space. People forget about that. Without it your computer will run extremely poorly doing really big files, no matter what size RAM you have. Also ME stinks in my opinion- you should be running 98SE, and Win 2K is much better if you are serious about this business... Frankly, due to relatively low prices these days, I am eying the Dual P4's running Win 2K with SCSI DVD-RAM (9 Gigs per disk) cartridges...
