For a transparent background you'll want to export as a tiff or png.

I've never heard of that before...  one would think if that was occurring it would be due to waiting for "Big Name Talent" to sign on, however the initial animating would have certainly been done using placeholder audio tracks (of non big name talent) to sync up to...  after the fact recording, animating  may need clean up and changes in the animation area due to subtleties of the big name's voice and personality that may not have made it into the initial animating creating more realism and believability of the character.

Those are nice looking animations wolf!!!  But MY problem with them is they still look 3D if ya know what I mean???  That was the problem with Appleseed...  though they had the cel shading going on it still looked way too 3D to be anything but 3D!!!  I like the z-toon method because you can use it very effectively in animation while still maintaining a very anime look and style of cinematography...  I mean the long shots of minimal movement and the quick edit to another "action" type pose simulating action/movement that so much of all the anime's are famous for...  I personally love the long dramatic shot with only a blink or two and that's that for the animation in a scene!!!  Don't get me wrong...  I'm not slamming anime at all!!  I'm a huge anime fan (video games too...  DANG!!  It's so not a wonder that I'm finding myself single again!!!  At least I don't L.A.R.P. or cosplay!!! LOLZ!!)

For a nice 2D anime look you can get FANTASTIC results with Ockhams Z-Flatten (z-toon) python script in the freestuff here!!  It works amazingly well and gives everything a nice dark cartoony outline and even works while animating!

Of course you can always try the material shaders route but in my opinion the z-toon method looks more authentic and me being as avid an anime watcher as I am (I watch tons of anime Cowboy Bebop & Ergo Proxy are my favorites!! ) I'm more than satisfied with z-tooning!!

720 x 576 would be standard 4:3 pal resolution, 538 x 576 for 16:9...

One thing to keep in mind is quality of your output...  if you're wanting visual quality similar to something like Final Fantasy VII Advent Children then you'll be rendering for years and years in P7!!!  For preview quality your render time will improve drastically but of course visual quality will certainly suffer.  You'll need to experiment with render quality settings to find a good middle ground to time you want to spend rendering VS quality you want.

Hopefully operaguy will see this as it sounds like he's spent a lot of time figuring render times to quality and I'm sure he'll have some really great input for you.  I personally don't render in Poser at all ( I prefer Carrara 6 Pro ) and you may find an external application may be better suited for your needs.  Programs like Carrara, Vue and Cinema 4D (Max & Maya for high end) are great at handling Poser scenes**,** you need to figure in your time, $$$ (for external app) to best suit your project needs.

I'd imagine the refresh rate was too low on the CRT...  I wanna claw my eyes out if it accidently gets set to 60hz by a game or something!!  I usually keep mine at 100hz and no problems!!  I need a nice new LCD too....  maybe after Christmas!!

Hey Wolf...   I finally finished watching GITS SAC 2nd gig!!!  What an amazing series!!!  Actually finished Ergo Proxy this week too!!!  Yet another awesome series!!  Sorry OP for derailing your thread!!  But I agree Halo stuff for Poser would be cool!!!  Just started playing Halo 3 last week!!  Been too busy with Mass Effect & Assassins Creed!!  Love my 360!!!

Sorry...  I for one (as a proud Canuck!) got a good chuckle out of the original post!!!  I remember when I was a kid in the 80's and visiting relatives in Montana and they honestly though we had sled dogs and ski-doos and all of Canada was like arctic igloo winter wonderland all year round!!  It was funny!

Bob & Doug MacKenzie are still big time favorites for me!!!  Loved staying up late watching SCTV on CTV!!!!!
