If you are using 'show as box', don't forget to give them easy to remember names. Using the 'family' colors can go a long way to keep things straight.

*I know that sounds strange, but "ecosystem polygons" dont seem to stress my hardware as much as other ones. (Not even close)
*I have wondered about this for a long time. A 2 million poly model will cause heartburn for my machine, but I have made solidworks ecosystems with 1.5 billion and they work fine. Does anyone know the reason for this?
Sorry about going off the main thread topic. I am using V5inf.
XP,AMD Athlon1.8ghz, 512ram, 64meg geforce.
Thread: Can you use Poser People as Ecosystems to make a crowd, or is that too memory in | Forum: Vue
That should work. Crashing will depend on your system. I have a meager system and can easily handle crowds of up to 100. If you use Poser files directly, I think there may be some issues. I don't use Poser, but I do use exported 3ds and OBJ from other software.
Thread: Any way to make a crowd of people in Vue 5 inf? | Forum: Vue
You can use the 'scale and orientation' tab in the ecosystem set up area.
To get the people to stay on the sidewalk you can use a map to drive their placement. I think there are some tuts here about it.
here's a similar one about paths.

Good change. The open ocean fractal drives the terrain so really doesn't need to be procedural.
The globs were my only complaint in the original. More details as mentioned above would be nice. Details may be more important on the focus items in the video.
Near the end as the camera comes out of the water, there is a tug pulling away that seems to be going way too fast. I believe it pulled out earlier in the video. Great work!! Send us the link to the final.

Great model. I am sure the ammo belts can be made in Bryce. It would just take some extreme parenting/linking work. If that one artist ,whose name escapes me, can make dragons and people from stacks of spheres I am sure this is possible. :) Might have to try this. Hmmm...
The top belt is the easiest. 2 MR'd groups, 1 straight, one curved on 1 axis.
Side belts. 1 or 2 MR'd groups with tweaking.
Could use a posed smartpipe as a guide.
Thread: What's the Even Horizon,Blue Line called in Bryce ? | Forum: Bryce
I remember my hate for the Blue Line! You cannot make it go away if you have any kind of Earth atmosphere. Only space scenes or solid colors will not have a line.
One thing to keep in mind about Bryce and Poser. Bryce is primarily a landscape program. Every landscape in the world has a horizon. If you look at any other landscape program they will have some kind of horizon.
Poser is primarily a figure modelling program. It does not need a horizon. Poser can be used to make full scenes with horizons but that is not it's focus.
There is an easy way to avoid the line and other problems related to pointing the camera at the sky.
Make or find a high resolution picture of a sky you want as a background.
Delete the ground plane.
Create a 2d Face.
Go to the texture editor by clicking 'M' next to the 2d Face.
Change the amdient to 0.
Click the first empty circle next to 'diffuse'.
A texture will come up. Click the 'P'. Then the very light pink dot at the top left.
You should see 3 big boxes at the top of the screen. Click 'Load' on the 3rd one.
Put the sky picture on it. Then click the check mark.
Click on the small grey triangle to the left of the texture boxes. It is not in a circle. It says 'Material Options'. Turn off the 3 shadow settings by clicking them.
Click the check mark.
Turn the camera to look straight at the 2d Face.
Increase the size of the 2d Face and move it away from the camera.
Move the sun to be behind the camera or add some lights to make the picture brighter.
this is an easy way to make backgrounds for scenes. There are some limitations.
All actions must be in front of the 2d Face. The original size of the sky picture is important. Bigger is better. At leat 512x512. 1024x1024 is best. You can find sky pictures here in R'osity
Free stuff, Google Images, and many other places.
Sorry for the long description. Hope it helps. Let me know if it works for you. Try not to get too frustrated.

Thread: Bump height on water? | Forum: Bryce
This is a puzzle. I have tried many different settings, sizes, positions, projections, for the texture you used and cannot make it smooth with the bump settings you show.
If you click the 'diffuse' button, do you get the color map? The sphere should turn the colors shown in the first texture box.
Do you get this bump problem with every bumpy texture? Have you tried choosing one of the rock textures? All of them have bump maps.
When you try a new texture do you try it on a new primative? You should try each one on a new primative so all of the settings are fresh.
If you can't do bumps on other textures. Let us know. If it is just this one then I can email a new copy of it to you.

Forgot something...to get variety in the different terrains duplicate the terrain and go back to the editor. Click fractal again and a new terrain will pop up. Different from the first.
You can also adjust the the height of the terrain by using the handles in the main view.
More variety can be had by going to the top view, then rotating and stretching the terrain.
Have fun and come back to the forum often!!!

Definately don't give up!! You are just beginning and you are already tackling textures. I didn't get near those for a long time. :)
Using terrains for waves is a good way to get what you want. I would also suggest going to the terrain editor, by choosing 'E' after creating a terrain.
Click 'New' in the editor to clear the default terrain.
Click the arrow by 'Fractal' Choose one of the many listed. Click the circle by 'Fractal'.
A terrain will appear. You can click again and a different version will appear. You can click-hold the circle then slide right-left to see the terrain with different heights.
A great fractal to use is 'Pocked' It is chaotic and looks good with a water texture.
Try all the other buttons on the terrain editor, they can do some cool stuff.
The crosshatched box on the right-side menu changes the terrain size. It's good to have a high-res terrain nearest the camera, 1024x1024. then use lower res farther away. If your machine isn't a powerhouse don't go too big.

A way to see just the non 'Poser chick' pics would be so nice! In all software catagories.
I will stop now...'Poser Chicks' one of my pet peeves.
