I bought the full version, but I'm still very new at it. You SHOULD be able to find the "Convert to other modeler" option in the "Edit" menu, at the very bottom of the list. As far as the "No parameters" thing, I've had the same problem. In fact, I was going to ask about that myself!

By the way, try rendering your scene. In my experience, the reversed normals do render, you just can't see them in the preview.

Are the stairs made cubes or blocks, or some sort of flat grid mesh? In my recent experiments with hair props, I've found that a flat "grid" mesh appears to result in the kind of a kind of one-sided object, where, for instance, you can't see the back of the hair (the inside, really) from the front, but turn the object around and there it is. To me, this looks like the backside of just such a mesh. I'm guessing that the invisible side is just showing the reversed normals of the front. Certainly, reversing the normals should work here. But, if you ARE using flat mesh grids, just start using cubes or whatever 3D primatives, and you should be able to avoid this problem.

Try - Object Color: white, Highlight Color: black, Ambient Color: black. And make sure both Trans (Min/Max) sliders are full on. That set-up worked for me when I had the same problem.

The only problem is that, being the master, he makes it look so-o-o easy. But when you actually try to do it yourself... :/

By the way, if you REALLY wanted to use the default hair, you'd not only have to thin out the mesh, but you'd pretty much have to re-map it, because as I mentioned in my first post, the original map is really strange and just about impossible to create a quality tex for (forget about drawing straight lines!!!). In fact, you'd really need to kind of tear it apart into separate pieces in order to draw the hair going to right direction everywhere. It'll be easier to just start from scratch.

Actually, as Poppi pointed out, they DO need to be thin. What I found is that if the layer is thin enough, UV Mapper will map it as a single part, whereas if it's thicker, you get the separate front/back pieces, which make it impossible to create a working transmapping because the two sides won't match up and you get the problem I had, where one side is transparent and the other isn't, got it? I guess this is one of those things you learn from expirience, 'cause I've certainly never read it anywhere. Someone should write a book of little-known, off-beat facts like this, as well as hidden stuff like Poser's "Hair" feature where you type in "hair" and an undocumented window pops up, or the "secret" export feature in Bryce involving the edit pop-up (I don't remember the full procedure at the moment). In fact, I have the Real World Bryce 4 book, which has about 1,385,985.7 pages, and I don't think the export trick is even in there!

I guess you nailed it. I decided to try remapping Koz's Alice Hair and see what I could do with that, and it worked fine. As far as the default hair, I was just using that as a test. Now I know why no one else has done anything with it! Well, at least now I know what to do and what to avoid in making my own hair props. Painting the texture maps may take me a while to master (though I have been practicing), but we WILL have more quality hair props, dammit! And I'm going to focus on male hair to start with. SOMEBODY'S got to do it. Poor P4 Dork ain't never gonna git none with some ugly lump of clay on his head. Like he doesn't have enough problems already ;) Thanks for your help.

Well, if you're using Poser alone, the only way to make walls would be to resize the cube in "Prop Types". Just play around with the Scale dials until you get the size and thickness you want.

Whoops, it's on the Victoria Hair page (all the Hair pages, actually). It's called "P4 Hair to Millenium Hair" (catchy, huh?). But if you're talking about some other hair, like Kozaburo's, just trans and scale. And if you're not using Koz's hair, what the hell's wrong with you?!? Go down to the Web Ring Top 15 on the sidebar here and click on "Digital Babes". Best hair you'll ever find. And it's free!!

I think you just adjust it with the Trans and Scale dials until it fits! Although if you're talking about the standard issue P4 hair that comes with Poser, you can get free, already prepared versions from Daz. I don't remember exactly where it is on their site, maybe on the Vicky 2 page, down towards the bottom? It'll say "P4 hair conversion" or something.

Seriously, I think it's pretty pathetic that they are rude and harrass someone just because they don't like the sites you visit. What a bunch of losers. Can't we at least moon them or something... ;)

Being rude to Renderosity members?!? Hey, only we can do that!! I say we nuke the bastards!!!!

Once you've checked Archive (and ONLY Archive), try taking the disk out and popping it back in. I don't know why, but that works sometimes. I use RW's and have had no problems (other than the Memorex episode, and that was a new disk). I had the same problem with that texture I mentioned. At first the Archive move didn't seem to work, but I went back and voila, no problem. Weird, but true. Don't give up quite yet :)
