Aye, give the ships a motion blur or depth blur, I also thought the were missiles. Perhaps throw a nother light beneath the mech, faintly, to bring out details? But the textures are great, good work....

Are there files on the drive that you need? If so, slave the drive to one of your other computers, and pull the files right off! Then you could format it and I bet it will work after that. Don't take it back until you've formatted it, at least...

Aye, thanks for keeping us updated, and also thanks for all of your hard work! (that's a cool pic, too! It's a great way to display your new model...!)

I think, aside from what has been said so far, is that I'v ejust come to expect a lot more out of you due to your rapid growth... Not an insult, what I mean is that one Bryce tree in the background doesn't really constitute a background for you, considering how many awesome pictures you've made recently! I think you should make a forest of trees, at least five or ten, or something like that. It would draw focus back to your character, as well, instead of making your eyes search for something MORE behind her which isn't there... Fill in the background with someting wonderful, and what Erlik said about having the flower-hand diagonal with her face is a great tip! Good luck!

Aye, but the people are the point of it all! Discovery... And also, they are the objects that set the scale. Without them, DVD, there would be no composition, it would merely be a portrait. And god knows there are enough Millenium Dragon portraits out there already!

Funny thing about people saying, "That's just your opinion, Atomic!", is that it's obvious that it's YOUR opinion, considering YOU obviously typed it! I have nothing against DAZ really, I think that Studio was a great anti-poser step. Having just started using Maya, I'm very much looking forward to uninstalling Poser 5 someday soon. Nothing against Poser, but there isn't anything you can do in Poser that you can't do in Maya, and there are a million things you can't do in Poser that you CAN do in Maya. Maybe even a billion! But after seeing Pendulum's proposal for Bryce 6, I can't imagine anything LESS than that as a reality. If DAZ doesn't at least incorporate HALF of what he was considering, then I'll probably just skip Bryce 6 and stick with Maya 6 and Bryce 5, with Rhino and Photoshop for input-output apps... Of course, I didn't buy Maya 6 all by myself, and Bryce 6 is something I could actually afford, but sometimes it's really hard to justify being loyal to one program when you've been let down so many times. If all they do in Bryce 5.5 is decrease render speeds, I'm afraid I won't be buying it at all. And if Bryce 6 isn't done in six months, I'm afraid I'll have surpassed any of it's potentials with Maya by then and Bryce 6 will be totaly useless to me. Again, there's nothing that Bryce can do that Maya can't, already, and if they don't change that somehow it doesn't make sense to me to invest any money in something that won't get me a job or make me any money back. When looking for a job, you will never find a position for Bryce Artist, but there are dozens for Maya animators, because it is very difficult to use but very powerful. Bryce is a great program, though, and I DO love it dearly! I even finished a ten-second animation this week, made me a quick $350 in less than ten hours of actual work!

Funny thing is, Sackrat, that I didn't even notice the acronym until two years after I started using this net-name on Yahoo, and in chat one night someone pointed it out...! (and sometimes people mess it up and call me LDS, which is even funnier because I DID grow up Mormon!)

(laughs!) That's awesome, ICM. There are few things in this world as satisfying as a good book. One day, what people call "Video Games" will reach the level of intricacy and scope that books have generally laid a patent on for the last million years... I say go for Angels & Demons, you might like it! (haven't read it yet, I'm still knee-deep in 'A Song of Ice and Fire')

Aye, RayRaz has the right of it... Are you using XP Pro or XP Home? The fact that you can even get into XP boot options means that not ALL of the data on the system has been damaged, hopefully it's only the boot sectors and in that case all you really need to do is get it to launch XP Setup. Once that happens, either it will launch into XP, although many of the setting may revert to stock, but your data, registry, and programs should remain intact. My point it, your files are more than likely NOT yet lost! Good luck, Zhann, and in the future stay away from proprietary boxes and get yourself an Uninterruptible Power Supply, they are fairly cheap and even the worst ones will give you a good half hour to shut down your PC before things go awry... (whatever you do, just don't format your drive yet! There may still be hope...)

Pogmahone, do yourself a huge favor and switch to Firefox instead of Microsoft IE, if you haven't already... Since I started using it my spyware problem has all but disappeared...

(laughs at Xenic!) I think it's time we took this all into our own hands. We need to reverse-engineer Bryce 5, that is to say, what we REALLY need is something totally different to go with it! I was thinking Bryce 4.5, or maybe AmateurRender 1.0? Progress, schmogress!
Thread: I'm considering a 24" Sony Monitor CRT. Any advice, warnings, etc? | Forum: Bryce
Well I certainly hope you enjoy it! I'm using an old 17" Viewsonic Trinitron with no monitor base at 1152x864, and to ME it's a huge upgrade on desktop area over my old 15" shamrock... I don't know whatever I would do with a 24"! Good luck and have fun rendering!

Aye, I figured there were layers involved somwhere... Imagine being on the design team at Adobe or Corel or Jasc way back in 1989 or whatever, and one day at a team meeting someone just blurts out : "Hey, I know! What if we could program layers, you know, like different levels?!?!?" (everyone looks at him/her dubiously...)
