As i hear "5000 objects"... Is that by any chance the De Espona collection? I got the "low budget" version on the 2 books with 500 models each, but didnt have any problems importing into vue 4. Havent used them in Vue 6 however, i should tidy up and search the discs. =)

Great japanese models, i actually plan doing some modern japanese buildings after collecting textures on my next Tokyo vacation. Is that a Shishi Odoshii in the Garden Kit #1? ^^

Thread: A tech geek question on how Vue accesses free HD space | Forum: Vue
I'd have guessed that it's rather got something to do with vue not finding the related files anymore, I have had that problem after moving my texture file folder to another drive. I also never thought about the temporary files, I would have assumed these are created on the system drive where the operating system or vue is installed. Does vue create the temp files on the drive where the libraries are stored? Maybe thats a bug or so, as it doesnt make much sense to me...

Thread: Problem with Vivians Flower Generator | Forum: Vue
The program doesn't start, i always get some error message.
Edit: Nevermind, just read that it needs the .net framework 2.0 installed. Vista only came with .net 1.1 so i guess i need to upgrade first.

You should report that error to e-on tech support. Sounds like something that should be fixed in one of the next updates. I dont use resume so i have not yet had such an issue, but as it sounds I am sure this will happen to other users, too - sooner or later.

Thread: how to import model from 3dmax to vue | Forum: Vue
Check the filenames. I often had problems with long texture filenames when using models from max, these were gone after renaming the textures to short 8 char filenames and saving in max again, then exporting to 3ds. Well i must admit i also had several issues with importing max models since Vue 4, the format with the least problems was .obj for me.

I'd say it really depends on what you want to do. For a still there's many work-arounds to simulate splashing waters, waterfalls, etc - even for animations there's limited possibilities to make a waterfall looking "halfway" realistic.Of course the best would be Realflow, as it can barely do anything else then simulating water/liquids. But its so complicated - if you dont plan spending weeks and months learning it, its of no use to even think about it.
Same for other applications - yes latest maya got some function to convert to a mesh, but do you really want to buy maya? Look at the price tag.Â
Also dont start to export meshes from other programs unless you are 100% sure you can animate them in vue properly. Most likely you end up having a large model that looks good in stills and like crap in animations.
I guess the only real option left is taking a look at the vue work-arounds, theres plenty in the backroom and at other vue tutorials.
I attached a link as for some odd reasons i cant paste it here.
If that really doesnt help I'd recommend describing what you want to do more detailed and I'm sure people here will try to help you as good as they can.

Thread: Tropical island texturing ? | Forum: Vue
I dont have Vue 5, but Vue 6, so I'm not 100% sure. For the island as diolma said - just stretch it. As you want to make a mountain on an island I'd work with 2 terrains, one for the island itself, one for the mountain. I dont know any of the authors or titles you mentioned. And as diolma already said - dont mix the ecosystem, mix the underlying material. YOu should make the sand part altitude based, if thats too hard then make it a 3rd terrain.
Vue is of course faster to get from 0 to a landscape within seconds - ha, try that with max. But vue lacks a real modeler for polygon/Nurbs modelling. Vue was originally "just" a landscaper, but landscaping has remained a strong feature. I'd rather compare Vue to other landscaping software like Worldbuilder, World Construction Set or Natural Scene Designer. But it has become so much more, i hope it will soon also have a strong modeler.

Thread: "6" modules work with Vue 5 Esperit? | Forum: Vue
I dont think the modules are compatible between the versions.
Take care of what you buy, or you end up like me - Buying Esprit 6, then 3 modules, then regretting not having bought Studio, now thinking about infinite side-grade. ;)

Thanks so much for answering my questions!
I'm currently thinking about a vue 6 infinite sidegrade, someone help me collecting reasons please. I'm just collecting the Pros as obviously there should be no cons for upgrading from Esprit to infinite. I know theres the comparison chart with 1000s of technical terms, i just wanted to haer it from infinite users what made YOU choose infinite over esprit/studio?

Thread: Gotcha!!! Shader Tree!! | Forum: Vue
Ahh, i dont count ecosystems as polygons. I know its basically the same, but the way Vue handles these is different. I am currently rendering test pics of my new plants. The current scene uses only 1 object, a terrain with an ecosystem consisting only of my plant. The scene has over 250 million polygons (!!!) and i can handle and render it fine, a bit slower than an empty scene, but really not "slow". But when i load complex objects as my Vue house with around 2 million polygons, vue gets so slow, its a pain to handle.
I know that sounds strange, but "ecosystem polygons" dont seem to stress my hardware as much as other ones. (Not even close)

Thanks for the very fast answers!
Copy Protection: I do not have the "disable exports" function as i dont have Vue infinite (I think i read that its infinite only), does that mean export is always enabled?
Included textures: As i dont have infinite I guess i have to also include textures in all models/scenes. Does this also apply to plants? When i buy infinite do i never have to add textures when sending my file to a friend? Or is it rather that the textures are included in objects, but not scenes? Ah sorry if i ask too much. I'm still new to vue 6 and skipped 5 so i missed many features...
RenderCow: I am currently thinking about network rendering. I could buy the extra module for like 40 Euros. Or i upgrade to infinite (Currently collecting reasons). Or i just forget about it. I'm really unsure if i "got a use" for network rendering right now (I dont have 5 computers here, i could use my notebook though).
Thanks for the help, fellows! ^^

Does this mean large scenes would work better or faster if i upgraded from Vue 6 Esprit to Vue 6 infinite? Large scenes with several million polygons slow down my Vue 6E a lot. I should search my Poser 5 CD, its been ages since i played with Poser. I've never used it much, i must admit i got no idea what the shade tree is and whether its in my Poser 5 or needs a newer version.
