Thanks for the information, I kind of figured that out when I finally made a short test video.
So far, it does seem to run faster and do some things better than the earlier versions.ย ย It seems to me that it handles shadows better in Preview mode, which is a big factor for me because I never render anything that is going to be video.ย I usually had to turn them off, but they seem to look pretty good on the few things I've done.
I figured out a long time ago that rendering things in preview mode at high resolutions is much faster than actually running them through a render engine.
Once they are reduced to the size you want or in my case I leave them at 3440 by 1440, so they are full screen on my monitor, they look nearly as good and in a fraction of the time.ย
Now it's time to do a test with speech and run it through my editor and see how it goes.ย

That worked, funny thing though, it still said that it was writing .png files in the progress window while it was doing it.ย The other thing was that all the .png files that I created earlier would not let my batch delete them.ย I started doing them one at a time, but I finally got tired of it, I removed the other files that I had in the folder and then deleted the folder.
I don't know why I couldn't bath select them, but they weren't protected from being deleted.ย Weird.ย I've been doing animated stuff with Poser for years, but every new version adds something strange.
I still wish they would restore the old easy option for adding textures and colors to the figures and props.ย
I opened an untextured dog model in the Material Room, and I read everything I still couldn't figure out how to apply the texture to it, it said that I should drag the texture from the library, but I wasn't able to get anything to drag to the frame on the right side of the window from anyplace.ย All the props were clearly listed on the left side, but I couldn't get them applied to the dialog on the right side.ย Why can't I just click All and have a button to apply them?
Well, I can't get my spell checker to admit that "untextured" is a word either.

Thread: Windows 11 anyone? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi
I upgraded my laptop a week ago, and my PC yesterday.
I like it, it's faster, and easier to get around in, I like the new look it's more user-friendly and everything is easier to read.ย
I've had no problems other than some trouble finding a few things that have moved.
If you are going to upgrade, I still recommend making a Disk Image of your C:\ drive first, but I've had no problems at all.
It's kind of a breath of fresh air, after all this time with Windows 10.ย ย This is the first version of Windows that I did not beta test since I started with Windows 7.
And the first one I really am happy with since Windows 7.ย ย The upgrade process was painless after making some changes in the bios to make my gaming computer, compatible.
Normally I would do a clean install, but it went so well on my laptop I decided to save all the time reinstalling everything, and I'm glad I did.

Thanks, I'll go through this with Poser open and figure it out.

Thread: I have to ask this every time I reinstall Poser. | Forum: Poser 12
Thanks, I've got it set up, and I'll do as suggested and save a backup of my load profile so that I can get to it easy if I need to. I didn't even think of using my Poser 11 start page, which I still have installed along with 12.
I'm 83, my memory isn't what it used to be. I've been using Poser off and on since version 3 which I picked up at Best Buy just out of curiosity.
I used it to make and save little characters of people that I could add to architectural illustrations and restaurant interiors, it saved a lot of time. Now I just use it to do experimental animation, for the most part, since I retired nearly 20 years ago.
I now have a 34" UHD monitor, the only problem with it is that you can't get one that supports 3D stereo. I was really into making stereo videos, and I can't do that anymore. I suppose I could do it if I got a VR headset. I'll have to look into that. I figured out how to do really effective stereo movies in Poser or from video games.
I could only show it to people on my computer because no one had the equipment to view them, so I moved on to high definition.
Thanks again for the help, Poser 12 is kind of like starting over because I had my own way of doing things, and they don't work with 12! I especially miss the Simple Texture feature. I don't know why they removed that, it saved a lot of time.

Thanks, it's been kind of a pain having to delete them on at a time. I had to do 23 of them yesterday.

Thanks again, that worked, it now opens with a blank screen. Like I said, I go through this every time I install since I got poser 11, and now 12. Much better!!!

Thanks, I know how to set it up once I get rid of it. But getting rid of it is a pain.

I want the ground plane flat with no Grid or the up sweep in the back, just the plain flat ground pane that you can make the color you want. What I see is like a photographers' studio with a grid pattern on it, that's what I'm trying to get rid of, I should have gone into more detail to start with. Poser always starts out like this in the newer versions and I can never remember how you get rid of it, I think you turn it off someplace, but I can't remember how, and I can't find it.

The problem is that when you ask for a new scene it loads with the grid showing, I need to remember how to turn it off. Once I do that, I can set it as Preferred State. But I can't stop it from loading grid to start with.
Like I said, I have this every time I reinstall, and I can't remember how to turn it off, I know there's a simple way to do it, but I'm blank about it.

I did get the glasses frame the way I wanted, and I'm getting used to the work flow, but it is much more time-consuming and harder to look at a whole variety of texture options in just a few minutes, that it was using the Simple Tab.
I don't know why they didn't just leave it there for those who want it, it would have made things so much simpler.

Thanks, I'll try those options. I think I'm starting to get it, but I still miss the old way of doing it.

The above is a single frame from a 375 frame test video, she is talking, it created this at about 2 frames per second or faster in this resolution.

Here's another one, as you can see she is wearing glasses, I always use the standard textures on the glasses but in Easy Mode I can specify the frames and change the color of just the frames very easily by just clicking on a dark brown color to be added to just the frames. I can't find anyway to do that in Poser 12?
You can see that the quality of the render is adequate for animation, as I'm not constrained to using small images.

Hi I've made some progress, I have created my character and loaded all the textures, the image looks great, but it was very time-consuming, I think that your right, it may be better to do all the creation work in Poser 11. What I'll have to do now is create an animation with the character, make a video and see how is does with processing it in both programs and see if there is any advantage to using Poser 12 over 11.
Until now every time I upgraded Poser to a new version I got an improvement in the quality of the Preview Render, it seems that isn't true in Poser 12, but I'll have to compare them side by side and see if there is a difference. I have to say, it seems that leaving out the easy option in materials didn't help anything, why not just leave it in.
