I'm not sure I follow... you have two versions but you're still only one purchaser and thats who I'm counting, not total sales of Poser but the total buyers.

*Those aren't new users, they already were legit Poser users and were already accounted for.   I've bought three versions of Poser now but I'm still only counted as one legit user.

no proof, but according to this websites own data there are over 500,000 members, 200,000 currently active (and these are old numbers)... EF made only 7 million last year which works out to around 15,000 sales of Poser 7.  Now being generous lets assume that at least 60% of those buyers had never purchased Poser before... that means 9,000 new users.  Now lets be even more generous and assume that 60% of those new users have even heard of Renderosity and are active members in here that's 5,400 registered Poser 7 users out of 200,000 active, 500,000 total.   

Poser 6 was a dissapointment, was quickly replaced by P7 and debuted head to head against D|S's initial launch... I doubt it sold nearly as well as Poser 7 has and most probably upgraded to P7 pretty quickly.  Probably around 3,500 registered P6 users are in here and still active.

Poser 5 did well and was briefly given away for free... I'd assume at least 10,000 registered and active Poser users are in here that haven't upgraded.  P5 probably has the most users of any active Poser group.

Poser 4 & Poser Pro are most likely making up the vast majority of inactive users as most people that bought those versions and are still active have most likely upgraded as well.  Being generous lets give this group 10,000 as well.

That's around a total of 28,900 active & legit users out of 200,000+ active, 500,000 total.  I was wrong I guess, only around 85% are illegitimate, not 90%.  Oops, sorry.  My bad.

Daz might want Poser for no other reason than to own and use the name.  People may create pictures using D|S but its still known as Poser Art, not Daz Studio Art.

Seeing how poorly Poser has been selling really brings to light why so many people in here bitched and moaned when a security feature was added with Poser 5... its a good chance at least 90% of the people in here are using illegal copies of Poser.  If Smith Micro was smart they'd slap a security feature right back on Poser and tell the complainers to shut up and actually try paying for Poser for a change.  Then it might actually make some money.

Thanks!  I still find I use V3 far more often than V4... I've tried and tried V4 but I still find myself thinking of her as more suitable of a replacement for S3P than V3

I've been a lifetime member for several years now and never regretted it, especially since he makes clothing for Apollo, the G2 characters and others that the merchants here totally overlook and don't even remember exist.

I have the same nickname at both places and other than sending messages that never get answered how do I check to see if she's getting them?  I don't know if she's getting Renderosity messages or not... for all I know she never checks them but to me that would only further make her a bad merchant in my books (maybe she doesn't even speak english herself).
It's not actually that big a deal to me, I just won't be buying from serpentis again, that is all.

I bought Alanis Stylez for Alanis Hair package from serpentis through the Content Paradise store instead of here and as part of the package there is a bonus zip you can download.  Unfortunately the link is broken and she won't acknowledge I ever bought the item or fix the broken link.  Now I know why I guess, I just assumed she was a crappy merchant.

actually almost everything for sale here ends up for sale at CP around 24 hours later.  And since you get 5% rebate on everything you buy at CP I tend to make my purchases there.  On an average month I get enough money back from CP that I can buy myself a Poser product for free.

Someone once hired me to create some poser comics for them and paid me using Paypal.  Over 6 months later Paypal grabbed $500.00 I had in my Paypal account because it turned out the guy used a stolen credit card to put my payment money into his Paypal account.  They also demanded I give them an additional $500.00 that I had withdrawn but I told Paypal to go fuck themselves because it was the credit card company's problem, not mine (or theirs for that matter).  As far as I'm concerned if they can't figure out a stolen credit card has been used for over 6 months then it's tough luck.

I just spent a couple hours combining runtimes together for this only to find out in their forums that its only the !Daz library folder and not the V4 character herself that needs to be in the Poser main runtime... would have been nice if they included that info in the V4.1 download.  What a waste of my time and now Poser loads half as fast :(
