Quote - I am well aware that DSON products do not work well in DAZ, and I am not surprised that it's even worse with Gen6-- I can't imagine the HD products/options working in Poser, in particular.
However, what I said is still true-- V4 is going by the wayside, little by little.
Certainly the majority of new releases on the page today are overwhelmingly V4.
I seem to have overestimated the conversion, based partly on the freebies trend (very little free stuff for V4 anymore-- vast majority is for G2F and both versions of Dawn)I did look at some of the vendor patterns, however.
Vendors who make exclusively for Gen6 or Dawn now: Dariofish, Dzheng, Jroulin, Kang1hyun, Karth, Kobamax, Oskarsson, OutofTouch's clothing, Sickleyield
Vendors who make stuff for V4 OR Gen6 & Dawn: 3DSublimeProductions, Artemis, FWArt, Halcyone (almost none for V4 anymore), Lilflame, Outoftouch's hair (always compat. w. V4 and Gen6), P3Design, Rhiannon, Sabby
Please note that for clothing and hair, only MODELS, not textures are included. This list is by no means exhaustive, and does not include vendors who usually make products compatible with both or all three figures.
I'm not sure why you would say that, given that every model sold at Renderosity (including hair and clothing) includes textures. They won't even test one without them.
There are a lot of reasons for supporting Genesis 2 Female and DAZ Studio over Poser and Generation 4 and Dawn. The two platforms are gradually moving further apart in terms of their technology, and a lot of us find DS's technology easier to use - Poser's benefits are all on the rendering end and none on its creation features, and as someone who works with the creative tools, I'm going to choose DS every time. And of course there's the fact that I can make an extremely good living without ever touching Poser, and supporting both takes twice as long or more.
I'm not going to make the same product twice at the lowest common denominator of features (which is what it takes to support both programs, given how far the tech is drifting apart) when I can make two different products with more complex features instead (by only using DS).

But a weight-mapped figure that works natively in both DS and Poser? Is that really possible?
I think that may mean there is a Poser version and a DS version ;). Not one version for both, since they're not really compatible formats :)

It is possible only in the broadest terms. You can make a Poser version that "sort of" works in DAZ (since DS can technically read .cr2 figures) or you can make a DAZ version with DSON support files for Poser (and we all know DSON has some shortcomings). Unless they did two native versions, one duf and one cr2, there can't be full cross-platform support. And yes, that means clothing intercompatibility has similar issues.
Though if Poser users didn't choose to make GNDA and Tyler their main figures, I don't see much chance of this bagging that spot. Isn't the refusal to switch away from V4M4 driven by 1. people not upgrading to weight-map compatible Poser versions and 2. people not wanting to abandon their large wardrobes for those figures? This can't realistically address either of those unless it comes with a heckuva lot of cheap clothes out of the gate.
I'll be watching to see what happens. ;)

Thread: Making a face morph for genesis | Forum: Blender
Hallo again. I know there's been some delay, but I wanted to remark on the earlier difficulties people had.
For some reason DS4.5 will indeed show an old format .dsf morph correctly - once, just after installation. After that the morph dial will do nothing. One can get around that by using this script in the original way to export the .dsf. Then load DAZ and Genesis and turn the morph to its maximum.
Use file--save as--Support Asset--Morph Assets to save the morph. The saved one will work properly and consistently afterward.
This ONLY works if you do it on the FIRST loading of the morph, the one where it still dials in correctly. I have no idea why DS4.5 can read the "unreadable" format just the one time, but I've proven it by experiment repeatedly (and you can too).

No problem, I didn't mean to derail your thread! The pics show you're doing good work with this.

I have that, actually. It looks just a little odd on V5Supermodel with the leg to one side and bent (for e.g., in ballet poses) and it can't handle Stephanie 5 + Model Body at all. I think it pretty much works on plain V5 or others that minimally change the thigh/knee proportions.
Perhaps it's just a limitation of the medium, or I need to do my own long legs bend fixer and release it as a freebie.

Yes, please do at least keep it in mind. Doing ballet poses for a recent product I was struck by how weird the thigh/knee jointure can be on morphs with longer legs.

Or a "block site messages from" button? Mostly I treasure customer suggestions, in fact I offer free copies of product to those whose ideas I use, but I think we've all occasionally been pestered by someone with inappropriate suggestions and an inability to take no for an answer.

In daylight, all skin has a little glow from light passing through and reflecting from it. That's what subsurface scattering is for. Ambient that is very dim can help fake this effect pretty well, especially on skins that aren't super white. PD uses this very effectively with tan and darker-complected characters.
I prefer a full HSS shader, but I will accept a dsa with the default shader when attention has been paid and it renders up well (i.e. not really orange or really dull).
Thread: Weapon Packs | Forum: The MarketPlace Wishing Well
For me it's been more of a viability question. The one weapons pack I've done separately (Sickle Heavy Shields and Weapons) did quite badly compared to the armor set it goes with. The Sickle Whips did all right, but they were a massively difficult EasyPose project.
I'll be doing some ninja weapons before too long here, but that's mainly because Shadow Warrior is fuseling's baby, and what are ninjas without their shuriken? ;)

Check out Structure's free poses here at Rendo, too. There are a lot, and some are model-like, but most are for action or everyday poses. They are for both sexes. I now swear by them even though I mainly use Genesis (I correct for the figure with a free script).
If you put "Structure" in the search box in Freestuff you'll find all of it.
