I am not very familiar with all the Poser options yet, but I am sure that is possible.
But what about "shadow accept"? Or whatever you name it, meaning the shadow that falls on an object. Can you turn that off too?

The best, most flexible and most effective way of inserting such effects is postwork!
If you have those things as props in your scene you will always have problems, especially with unwanted shadow casting.
There is really a very rich variety of brushes and png files which makes it really easy to add those things in postwork.

All kinds of reflections.
Mirrors, yes, but also polished metal, tiled floors and anything that is not only glossy, but also reflects the environment.
A mirror, in my opinion, is nothing else then a plain silverish plane with maximum reflection settings. So it should not be much difference with different materials, but I dont know how to get reflections to work in Poser.

Ok, I have a question that (I think) belongs to that category:
How can I make a surface refective in Poser 10?
I have found reflections under the advanced tab in the material room, but there is no slider to add a value. How is that done?

Thanks! I think it is the most flexible solution to keep both versions.
Quote - Good luck with that. ;-)
Lol, its not that hard, especially with zip files. Unzip, check where everything goes, adjust to your needs, then copy and paste into runtime folder.

Ok, thanks for the explanation.
This seems to work a bit different than I am used to from DAZ Studio. There you had something called "Uber Environment2" which could be set as an indirect light source. I loved it for all kinds of night scenes. Therefore I just added an UE2, set it to indirect lightning, gave it a light blue tint and lowered the intensity to about 20%. This gave me a very smooth and even light all over the scene - perfect for moonlight.
But this was DAZ Studio. Now I am a Poser user and there is a lot new to learn.

Thank you!
Enabling (checking) in the render settings is all?
No more settings like intensity, color or whatever?

Thread: Where is the manual? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, you did, but I did not read that until I have posted my solution :-)
So, what else is in there? Anything useful?
I have not downloaded any of the additional download packs. I have a really huge Victoria 4 library to work with and - to be honest - I am not really interested in the additional smithmicro figures and their casual clothes. Everything I need is Vicky and her stuff and some props from here and other stores.

Ok, I have the solution for everyone who is interested!
SM support told me that the manual is not included in the main program download. You have to download and install the "Support Files" to get the manual.
Wow, pretty huge download (more than 1 GB) if you only need the manual :-)

Ok, thank you very much!
I have no pdf file in this (or any other) Poser folder. Maybe it is missing in the download version. I have already contacted SM and I wait for an answer.

I have the download version. Maybe thats the difference.
willyb53, since it is working with you, can you tell me if the manual is a pdf file and where it is located?
This could be helpful.

Thanks bagginsbill!
So I am not alone with this issue. I think you are right, I will get in contact with SM about that and as soon as I have a solution I will post it here.
