Thanks a lot for all the responses to my question.
Before Poser 11 came out, I was desperate because of the limitations of Firefly. Superfly really opened up a whole new world for me and I haven't used Firefly ever since, except when I need some shadows for a photo background.
I understand that the speed of Superfly has doubled in Poser 12, which is a good thing, because all I could do to speed it up was throw more processing power at it. I also see the improvements on the different nodes, but I think unless pixel based displacement is introduced in Superfly, I will stay on Poser 11 for a while. Man, I really miss that feature. A lot.

As I'm still on Poser 11 I'd love to know if there are any visible improvements in the Cycles/Superfly render engine in Poser 12. So far I understand that pixel-based displacement (as in Firefly) is still not possible. :(Â
Is there a difference when you render the same scene with the same render settings in Poser 11 and Poser 12? If so, a side by side comparison picture would be greatly appreciated.

It seems there is no simple solution for this problem in Poser. I guess I will continue to fix it in post-production with a multiply layer and a soft brush with dark brown tone.

Changing your lighting and/or lighting angle might have an impact on the self glow. SSS artifact usually causes a blue effect rather than the glow you are seeing. Increase the distance between objects usually minimizes the glow but I see by this image, that might not be an option LOL. What type of lights are you using and at what intensity?
It doesn't really matter. If it's well lit, it glows. In the example above this is mainly an area light on the top left with 120%, 300% size at a distance of ~3 m.

Thread: Making fur clothing with only one hair growth group? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks a lot for enlightening me! The static prop workaround doesn't seem to save much work, though. If the clothing would be a tight fitting dress, it would be easy to convert it to a prop once and then use the cloth simulator on it for the final pose and finally calculate the hair dynamics for the single hair group. But a fur coat is stiff and can't be properly handled in a cloth simulation. I guess I will decide in each case which way is the easiest, now that I know the limitations and tricks.

@compiler: Thanks a lot! That is a great method and a very detailed explanation. Too bad, I missed it before...

Thread: Renderosity Nude Playing Cards Project...... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'd like to do one card in each of the four colours, if possible. If only one card per person is allowed, I'd like to take hearts or spades. Don't care which cards, until it isn't a 'male' one (King or Jack).
