rings a bell, lol.. spent way too much time browsing to just a chaotic folders too XDD"my workflow is a totally erratic chaos.." Oh, man...... You've never seen my workflow (or what passes as one...) And don't even get me started on my file system (dis)organization! I spend most of my "creative" time looking for stuff! 😂

ah right, now i get the meaning of the sentences, i misinterpreted it. thank you for clarifying. She means that the duration of the contest runs 1 to 2 months in duration. The time it took you to create your image isn't part of what qualifies your image. And as far as how long your image takes, a rough estimate is fine.

ah the question was about how many hours were spent working on a scene/render... but i didn't know there was a limitation about WHEN the render had been done.. i have no idea i or rather which of the last i submitted for the pinup contest were older than 2 years, some surely were... is that written anywhere in any rules?Major contests allow two months of creation time. Smaller contests allow for one month of creation time. You can also enter art that you created in the past.Â

I think most of us work as you do. I do not think the times that people are giving is a true reflection on how much time they are spending on a project. I do not include the time spend rendering, because in my opinion the computer is doing the work and I am off doing something else.
i agree, would have been unexpected that everyone keeps book of their work, unless pro... and rendering is indeed not "work", plus dependent on the hardware quality.

I am exactly the same, I will start, then stop, then start again. Sometimes pause for days, it's so hard to keep a track of time. Not to mention that I might put together the render quickly (clothing, makeup, lights, setting etc) and then get stuck on a minor detail and spend hours trying to perfect that one silly item or find that one prop I absolutely need for the scene. I am a very nitpicky person so I am positive I spend way too much time on things that others probably don't even notice. The hours that I put on my last entries were just rough estimates, I am sure they are nowhere close to reality.Â
lol, i absolutely know where you come from with the getting stuck on a minor detail... or the search for that one prop - having tons of GB of purchased items and just not that matching thing for a scene... which will prolly end up being a freebie.

Thread: which mail is more relevant, order confirmation or payment for order? | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
maneki_neko posted at 10:29 AM Wed, 10 January 2024 - #2985596ok, thank you ^^It would be best to keep your payment receipt that contains the payment confirmation # as well as the method of payment. I hope that answers your question! If not please let me know.Âi always keep 1 mail/proof when i buy online and/or 3d stuff. you never know when it'll come handy.. however, my mailbox is tiny, and i've been a customer here for ages. i have a gazillion mails from rendo, both order confirmations and payment for orders.
now i really need to trash a lot of useless emails cuz my box is too full.so which one is more relevant, i dunno, in case of a merger, or any refund, or anything where i should be able to produce an email as proof of purchase? and which one can i trash because useless/redundant?

Thread: Is there a Newsletter December 15% coupon? | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
wow. amazing. newsletter coupon from december just arrived in my mailbox today on DECEMBER 29th. once 1) the month is over, and 2) i've spent all my money already for cool sales/real bargains and have zero dollar left on my card. big deal to make it valid until january 19th, i won't have a cent (hence nor will rendo get any from me) until then. and i might not be the only user who has already splurged...
so, when will we receive the january newsletter coupon, on february 14th for valentine's? i'd laugh at my joke if this was funny, but it isn't. stuff like this is just annoying. so my wishlist won't get shorter apparently.

Thread: Is there a Newsletter December 15% coupon? | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
haven't seen the 15% december newsletter coupon (yet) either...
not interested at all in a 25% coupon that demands a min. 50$ purchase AND not even good on sales item, i can get better in any random sale.
however, december coupon won't interest me in january either - even if it's kinda "still applicable in january" - because i'm down to my last $$ today. so i guess i'm not buying that last item i wanted...
and by the way, more generally, holidays sales or not, deals discounts or not, a MONTHLY coupon should arrive REGULARLY in our mailboxes every month on the 1st, so we can actually use it ALL month. everything else makes no sense at all, and borders on a joke - at our expense.
point is, i'm fickle, and patience is not my virtue. so when i have to wait, ask around in the forums almost every time, wonder if i deleted an important mail by error, etc etc, i just give up, and spend the few $$ i have somewhere else where things are regular, dependable, and easy to find.
already this "some vendors might not accept coupons" is weird. but whatever, if they rather get ZERO DOLLAR because i just won't buy anything that's not on sale and/or discounted by coupon, instead of X DOLLARS minus 15% off by coupon, they're free to do so.
it's not because i think that their fantastic work isn't worth the full price, it's because I'M BROKE and have felines to feed. actually, every dollar i spend on 3D is one dollar too much. but well, sometimes i need the goodies to balance my mood, so i allow myself the right to spend some $$ for unnecessary virtual pixel stuff. howver, i won't do it at any price...

Thread: Hivewire orders transfer to renderosity | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Miss B posted at 12:52 AM Wed, 1 November 2023 - #4477125
"no matter how long it takes" being the operative word here... when did hivewire close? 1 year? 2 years? 3 years ago? somehow there's a limit to patience, innit? i know, one single person all alone is doing all transfers manually all by themselves (i have no idea but probably also marginally a few hours/week or something besides a full time job as a mod here, i would be very surprised if that person had been doing this 5/7 days a week 8/8 hours a day since the merge happened). and that's exactly the problem, a team should have been dedicated to managing this change as soon as it started. i dunno, get some temps or sth. or liberate a person to deal exclusively with this... instead of writing possibly irrelevant articles about some trends or posts about what the team picked as freebies etc... i'm sure somewhere ressources could be freed. or why not get a new employee just for that until it's done.I sure hope they continue with this, no matter how long it takes. I downloaded everything before they closed the HW3D store, but it would still be so much better if everything was in my account here.
me too, i still wait for updated products, and since i can barely afford to buy NEW products, i certainly won't buy my hivewire stuff once again... it's not serious this way of dealing with the situation. i don't want to be the bad person here, but accepting to host vendors and products from hivewire came with a responsibility, and i really don't feel like it's been taken seriously.

CHMedia posted at 1:13 PM Sun, 1 October 2023 - #4475632
Renderosity allows " Workflow AI" thus it is welcome in our Contests. Keyword generated AI imagery that scrapes copyrighted material from the world wide web is not allowed. Thank you for asking. I look forward to your entries in this year's halloween contest!i'm not trying to annoy anyone, least of all you CHMedia.. but it's still not clear, after i read your comment. i've seen people using AI in their workflow in the gallery as allowed in the new general rukes, but i'm not sure the AI part of their work hasn't been using what you mention... and obviously for a contest the scrutiny will be way higher.
let's say i put one of my AI images (classic prompt generated) on a canvas as a poster/painting in a 3D scene, and add a 3D character, and maybe props etc. this image coming from a public site (for me nightcafé, wombo, maybe clipdrop) WILL BE (very probably) coming from scraped copyrighted material etc as you mentioned. all models are based on that. however, it's only part of a mixed workflow AI+3D. so what now?
same if i take one of my own 3D renders and "enhance it" on a public AI site - while the base is clearly mine, the new version will be built up with scraped stuff left and right, since it's the essence of the models... so what then?
the only form of "workflow AI" that might not be using any copyrighted materials might be AI integrated in a photocamera, or as a tool/plugin in PS/gimp or another 2D app, and maybe even 3D since apparently blender has/will have some integrated AI too.

Thread: Render Rewards Points! | Forum: Community Center
me too, i see where you come from... and i must admit that the "why bother" is starting to creep upon me too. trying to wake up anyone doesn't even work apparently.@ maneki_neko:
I read your post, and I do understand where you're coming from. Especially with the "snapshots" of pretty much nothing most of the time. As a photographer myself (I have worked commercially), you are 100% correct that most of it is not 'photography.'Â I've stopped looking at most of the utter crap in the 'freestuff' area. Photos of derelict buildings, cracks in walls, close-up of bushes, etc. Again, all done in the interest of getting those reward points, and not providing anything actually useful. Whatever.
So much has changed here, but one of the biggest problems I've noted (I've been here since 2009 or so..) Is that about 95% of the membership here is just so un-involved. There are still a precious few that can actually take a few minutes out of their day to make any kind of relevant comment on others' artwork. But not like the years past.
I was going to post another image of the repetitive 8-image floods from a couple of individuals that do it daily, but why bother? No one seems to give a damn anyway, so why waste my time? I'll just scroll past it, and comment on art that had some thought and creativity put into it.
And I'll keep posting my own work as well, just in case anyone gives a damn. I'm done with all this other 💩.

maneki_neko posted at 4:28 PM Tue, 26 September 2023 - #4475316or more exactly, upset that this particular kind of images got forbidden while other questionable inputs were/are still allowed and appreciated and rewarded, including other "one click effort" types like snapshots (i don't see much photography here), or a flurry of repetitive borderline obscene low quality NVIATWAS, or halfway better renders of nonetheless just as repetitive exclusively female models devoid of any scenery, not to mention an avalanche of 2D just as repetitive stuff in the freebie section (it has become a gymkhana to find other stuff meanwhile), etc etc - you got the gist.RodS posted at 1:44 PM Tue, 26 September 2023 - #4475293I know. Some do it because they're upset about the "No AI" policy. 😉
There are at least 4 individuals that do this on a daily basis. It's getting old.
not all of them might be doing it for the same reason...
i have never compared myself and my images (up to the ban, after is not a question obviously), be it 3D or AI, to the people and the images that made me go WOW years ago (not so many of them lately...), i know my (normal...) skills are not that good, and i acknowledge that AI creation (in its pure form, like with prompts only, not mixed media) can't be compared to the skills and effort needed to produce a GOOD render or possibly a magnificent interesting photograph. which doesn't make it crap either tho.
but to be thrown in the same bag as the careless bunch mentioned above, as i uploaded only my best AI images (that i sometimes luckily got after 1-2 clicks but sometime needed some more time/"effort)", varied every day with care with different subjects and styles so it's hopefully pleasant and diversified to look at, yes, that did "upset" me, to use a polite expression.
but why swim against the current when you can swim with the crowd, ey... looking at the actual gallery educated me concerning what was considered as "work of art" apparently. or maybe i could also use the occasion to show what's questionable with this general acceptance of everything as long as it's not AI.
it's not very obvious recently, but i also appreciate quality. however what quality - or the lack thereof - consists of can't be reduced to a medium.

i check the deals page fairly often, daily even - but i feel there's a recent general trend going on there, and not necessarily in a direction which would motivate me to splurge...Event rules often change month to month .. they are not always starndard. Something that is only for PRIME members might be for all next month or visa versa. This is why you need to check articles at the Deals page :)
