Pronounced as N Gal 47 - Engel is Dutch for Angel, as my first name is Angela which means "a messenger from God" (really) and 47 is the age I was, when I took up poser and joined this site, and I haven't looked back since :) The user name I had most trouble deciphering was ynsaen.

I was under the impression that Ynsaen is pronounced "INSANE"
but I could be wrong :0)

Everyone I know wanted to say mine as T-dal-ka, when there is NO way to say mine, never was and most likely never will be...... All 6 letter are the first letter of my husbands and my names....... T-Theodore D-Dennis A-Anthony L-Linda K-Kay..... hence, tdalka.

During my years as a constable, when I came around to my fathers house. My father would say "Oh look whos' here..Robocop!" So, I accepted the nickname. But trying to make a usename Robocop on forums isn't easy.."Already taken". So, I decided to take half of Robocop to Robo, and then put a year at the end. No one has an 2010 at the end of their username. 5 more years off. :-) So you can say.."Robo 2 thousand 10" or "Robo twenty....Ten" Or the long way.."Robo two zero...one...zero"...lmao People reply with "Robo"..which I find just as good.

Mine is pronounced "kay-dug". It's my first initial and the first syllable of my last name. Gotcha beat, ghelmer! :P I'm more lame than you! And I thought that Kisiel may have been pronounced "kiz-EL".

Hey Mac, I might start calling you Harley ;) And I live in Maclean (well, about 1km out of it) and it's pronounced like yours - it's a Scottish town which is very proud of it's heritage - so proud, they have all the family tartans painted on the bottoms of every telegraph pole rolls eyes I thought Kisiel was pronounced Kiss - ee - el (el as in Superman). Francemi, I thought your's was Fran - see - me :) Porthos, every time I see your nick I think of Archer's cute little cheese eating dog LOL Of course, it never takes me much to associate anything with Star Trek ;) Mine is just Zee - nah, like the warrior queen :) I'm a fan shrug and because my real name is close, most people just call me Xee (pronounced Zeee - my real name is Lee) now.

Maclean, thank you for reminding me. My sister's boyfriend is Scot and you are right, he is able to pronounce my name correctly. And I agree with you, not many people know about the cedilla. Unfortunately, many French speaking persons write my name without it too.

Apart from my sister's boyfriend, all English speaking people try to pronounce the AN sound and some come near but NONE of them pronounce the rest correctly and they end up calling me Franis (no E at the end) and that gives me a man's name. Daio (day-oh) has been my nickname for 28 years now and you wouldn't believe the ways people have pronounced it. "I commonly get "die-oh' or day-ee-oh" from folks trying to pronounce it. My mother can't seem to get the "oh" part - she calls me "day-ah" or just "day". BTW I thought I made the name Daio up, not knowing there it was actually a MAN's name in Japan ( I'm female and I have no idea how they pronounce Daio in Japan).

Hmm, I thought Anton's last name was pronounced KIE-zell with the emphasis on the first syllable. Nothing fancy about mine, simply my last name, literally pronounced "Red" "Fern" (as in a non flowering plant that is red in color). English in origin, the family name still has a presence in the British Isles (where it's still spelled "Redfearn"); however, my closest relatives and I hail from south Georgia. Funny how people interpret the origin of my name. Some thought I was the offspring of '60s "Flower Children"; others thought it was Native American, like Roundtree. Mine is easy: Lak-s-mi - a as in star- and i as in bit => Laksmi. I don't know if in India they pronounce like this, but here we pronouce Laksmi this way. I was learning about India by the time I was choosing a nickname for internet use, a long time ago lol. Interesting topic :-)

Leather Guy as in "that leather guy". So many conversations and phone calls I get start with "Are you that leather guy who did the cool celtic vambraces (or sword rig, or presentation panel, or whatever) for (insert name here)?", so I picked leather-guy as my screen name with my first online email account. Kinda kept it up from then. Tooling historical designed leathers started as a hobby to get away from my "real-world" computer job, but I started making decent money at it, and finally became a leather tooler full time several years back. Now I play with a computer in my free time for diversion. . . I thought ynsaen was just neasny spelled backwards, and Anton's last name rhymed with Bissel. Fun thread.
