Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

Quote - Voluntary oxymorons - specifically crafted to stress a point - are acceptable, though.

...or so I'm told.

Absolutely.  It's all about using the language to convey the intended meaning or tone.  An oxymoron can be extremely effective, in that regard.  :thumbupboth:

Of course, it would be even better if I could leave the product in more capable hands, as well.

nothing is perfect. what some of us might consider "perfect" someone else who has truged through this loooooooooong thread or who has not contributed to her development in any way, may not feel the same.

she is definitely better put together and collectively a model resulting of some community effort. she is more flexible by way of mesh use and optimization w/o the joint stress and distortions that seem so inherent in all oher models before her. more attention has been given to anatomical appearsnve trying to make her as human-like as possible.

she has many other possibilities for improvement and development if other creatives in the community share in that task or if given the support and time needed for acceptance for such growth. she seems thr best availabele in some time and if we/you can prove that boast market her as such maybe not by bashing the others but by comparing her side-by-side posed with the other models being used out there.

the proof will always be in the render and support will come if the concensus of the players and shakers concur.

let them namer her with their support.

there is alot she needs to compete yet, morphs both phenome and character, facial and body as well as accessories. this would be a good time to get philc involved for ways to convert and adapt those accessories we have all invested in to fit her thus making the leap of faith into using of her that much more attractive.  i am sure there are oher things that can be detailed as part of a comprehensive marketing strategy we can come up with that would kill opposition argument against her use and strengthen the argument to use her for something more than a fun character once in a while.

just my two cents worth here for whatevr it might be worth.  :)

I'm a little late with this and it might be obvious.  Some tnings though can be so obvious as to be overlooked.

Thais has to do with hair and is for SaintFox specifically.  I have found that if you use hair from the hair library they are pretty easy to scale and transform to fit most any figure AND if you use conformable hair ... DON'T conform it but scale, transform and PARENT it to the model's  head.  Granted the chest, neck and collar parameters would have to be adjusted independent of the base model, but it saves a lot of headache with trying to match conforming parameters.  Just a thought.

As for the bi-line for Antonia.  "Girl Next Door" won't work, there is a Vicki product here with that  tag.  We wouldn't want any confusion.  "An Average girl ... an above average  model" is my contribution. In marketing it's always better to use positive statements not negative.  In other words don't use any negative words.  "Not" as an example. Again another thought. :)

Ulli3D aka Jules53757 wrote a converter for V3 figure hair to fit Antonia. It comes with a manual in.pdf. As far as I know it is on Antonia's site, but may need updating for changes to Antonia since it was publishedin March 2010.

For prop hair conversion is even simpler: Apply the magnet and save the .obj. The MAT poses can be used as on the original file. MorphManager can transfer the morphs.

No, don't worry. You were your usual honest and inoffensive self. I appreciate the honesty.

There was no intended meaning. I was just brainstorming a bit, I guess. Maybe even a very silly and - in this case - somewhat tasteless idea could inspire someone else to the perfect catch phrase.

Nice. I don't suppose you can make them a bit lower on the toes to show more of that "toe cleavage" could you?  :)

Heh. I was thinking the opposite. I think most flats are going to hide the toes.

No I guess you are not a foot fetishist. Toe Cleavage is the space between the big toe and the next toe that shows (think plumber's crack!) when a shoe like these flats, are low cut on the foot. Very sexy (unlike a plumber's crack) especially when you combine cute feet with cute shoes. Toe Clevage.  LOL

I know what cleavage is, even with reference to toes. But I'm more interested in "normal" footwear.

Well, it is normal footwear except it was in fact designed with a lower scoop over the the space where the toes and the foot mass meet. It would be considered a 'Retro Design" by many today but it was out there for all the girls of the time to indulge in. It became fetish worthy as time progressed despite not having started out that way. Just a bit of trivia for the worthy and I doubt if these shoes had been designed with a lower scoop that anyone except the most avid foot fetishist ould have noticed. Have a nice walk!  ;)

shante, I remember the flats made that way.

Being one of those accident prone types, I've very seldom worn high-heels.

And for some reason, one year the shoe stores I traded with only had that style flats.

It would be a nice thing to have both styles or a morph to lower the instep scoop for those who like them that way.

I'll take the shoes either way and be happy. :)

@Boni: Thanks for the hint - and yep, I know that there is this option. In fact I prefer, as far as possible, propped hair as the cr2 hair is so limited when it comes to use it with another figure.

I know and own the tool by Jules but so far I had not much success with it. While I was able to convert the one or other thing the results where too unprecise for my taste (may be my fault), especially the hair line was either too far away from the head or too near. Don't get me wrong: I am a big fan of converting things from one figure to another, in fact every time it works I hear a little sound, close to the one you hear when dropping coins into a piggy bank 😉 And I don't expect one-click-solutions. But especially with cr2-hair I was out of luck with the magnet set.

About the flat shoes: Nice! I remember this style as well, it was even more extreme and had a larger cleavage (and I remember as well how very, very uncomfortable this version was, I always had red skin and blisters on the foot).

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

During the sixties and seventies I remember my aunts wore a very low high heel pump style shoe that had the sam scoop. I remember my aunts saying they were the favorite shoes they ever wore. I got my foot/shoe fetish I think from watching transfixed those short hi heel shoes on womens' feet. I wish they would come back in style.  :(

Strange enough: If you google Kitten Heels instead you find more pumps "in action", if you google the full term you get more "just shoes" images.

I've made a JCM and head control for extending Antonia's tongue and put the result up on github. I'll try to tweak some of the expression morphs over the next days - I'm taking the rest of the week off - because I think I now agree with lesbentley that her nostrils don't look quite right when she smiles, and the same is true for some of the other morphs. I'll also try to clean up the MouthOpen so that it plays nicer with others, and build in lid-syncing similar to what Les did.

So all in all, I should be able to push out the first beta for version 1.0 by the weekend. If bugs are found, there will be subsequent betas and then eventually a release candidate. If not, the beta will eventually become the official version. I'm now thinking 2/11/2011 for the release date.

I still have some things on my original to-do list for 1.0, but I don't think any of those would introduce serious incompatibilities, and so they can wait until 1.2 (the 1.1.x series will be for development only, as was 0.9.x).

As I said, I will take a long break from Antonia after releasing 1.0 and work on other projects, but I'm sure I will be back. Besides tweaking the base figure, I might even think about retail packages. I am trying to eventually get out of my job and find other sources of income, after all.

@**odf**,

I like the TongueOut stuff! I would like to propose some changes to the JPs, which I feel would make the tongue bend better. The following is based on the figure in the v0.9.126-16-gc2c03cb.zip. This is just for the xrot of tongue2, I have not had a close look at the other rotations yet (but I will soon). Its debatable whether I have placed the origin too far forwards, it might be better at 0.0165, or even at 0.0160. This is not meant to be the last word on the best joints, just a suggestion for improving them.

In the animation the xrot for tongue2 goes from -75° to 75°. Below are the settings I used, they also seem to work well when the tongue is not fully extended:

actor tongue1:1
        {

@lesbentley: I think your version looks better for upward bending whereas the current one looks better for downward bending. Maybe something in the middle could make for a decent compromise?

When I last experimented with the settings, I used low-rez Antonia. That was a bit foolish, because if there's one part that simply didn't get enough polys in the low-rez version, it's the tongue. So maybe I'll have another go at it, or just use your settings. What does everyone else think?

Apparently the meaning "Antonia" is "priceless".  Perhaps that could be worked into a figure slogan?  Or some kind of reference to "My Antonia", which Wikipedia reports as "one of the greatest novels by American writer [Willa Cather](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willa_Cather "Willa Cather")"?

Something simple, like: "Antonia: Priceless." might be a good blurb.  😕

But that's the Italian meaning.  The Spanish meaning is "beyond praise".  Which might be a good starting point, too.

I quite like the new expression morphs.  :woot:

I'm finishing up a conforming garment for Antonia, but it may have limited utility for most folks.   I hope even posting a small image isn't considered tasteless somehow.  😊  Anyway, I'll put it up on my site soon, if anyone can use it somehow.

Ha, "Antonia" meaning "priceless" would be ... well, priceless. Alas, the sources I quickly googled seem to agree that the name most likely stems from an unknown etruscan word, and that the associations with Greek words meaning either "flower" or "priceless" came later. Anyway, the priceless idea is not bad.

Yeh, "Antonia: Etruscan & Unknown." lacks something.

I take your point about your version perhaps looking better on the downward bend, but that is with the tongue fully extended. I was trying for a compromise. I wanted the tongue to look good when it was not fully extended. I was also keen to have a good licking lips shape, and for the tongue to look good when it was pressed against something directly in front of it. To my mind the JPs I used came close to the best compromise I could get with only two tongue actors.

On the other hand, that is only my opinion, and I guess I am biased on that. I admit that I am shamelessly lobbying for the adoption of proposed new JPs! You will just have to put up with that, until I loose interest and get a different bee in my bonnet.
:tongue2:
In  the top image, TongueOut=0.75, MouthOpen=0.55, xrot for tongue2=30.0. I had to use different xrot values for tongue1 in each figure to get the tongues to fit the lips properly,  otherwise the poses are identical.

In the bottom image, I tried to get Antonia licking her top lip. I had to use quite different values for each figure. For licking the top lip the proposed new JPs win hands down, but then it depends on how much weight you give to licking the top lip, as opposed to other tongue poses that the original version may be better at.

@Cage,

I have always thought if Antonia as a bit of a babe, but not in quite the same sense as in your conforming garment!

Looks like you did an excellent job on the modeling and materials! :thumbupboth:
