I'm sure there's something somewhere made to fir her body, but the only thing I can think of is the Spywear set at DAZ, and even then, I'm not entirely sure if it does or not. There's probably a few things in the MP here as well, but I agree, there's a definite lack of clothes for her. Maybe it's because she has a more masculine look about her (body, at least...I love her face).
I've not had that much of a problem with Steph fitting into Vick's clothing. I do a bit of tweaking here and there, but I usually have to do that with Vicki anyway, since I like a bit more meat on my model's bones then the default body style. Serge, Little Dragon is right, offer them brownies and they will read :) Pendy
Thanks for the responses. It appears that people/DAZ/whomever haven't bothered to make many clothes for Stephanie. It's not enough to say you can rob Stephanie of her body so she can wear Vicky's clothes. Serge, I forgot the dress was yours. I have so much stuff. I don't usually need to mess with morphs on any clothes I use on a standard figure. All I've ever done is to conform the clothes and move on.
"So in essence, you have Stephanie's head, and Vicky's body. What's the point in that?"
It's so you can use Vic's cloths easily. It's an option, and I'm glad it's there.
If you change Stephanie's shape away from Vic's, why would you expect Vic's cloths to fit? You might as well try using Mike's cloths.
RoyG, what is the sense of creating a new character with her own unique face and body if we're just going to take that body away from her so she can wear Vicky's clothes? To me that's the biggest fallacy of this whole situation. And apparently "the majority" of clothing artists buy this line of reasoning. So if Stephanie really wants to be herself, she'll need to be naked. Well it looks like Jim was kind enough to take "the stock Stephanie" into consideration. It's too bad I'm not able to spring for the money to buy another character. Thanks anyway Jim. I just love your work. Ron
Ron, I would love it if all clothing fit all characters all the time. Steph came with the Vic shaped body as an option so she would have something to wear. You don't have to use it; it just makes her more versatile.
I would think that with some work a lot of Vic clothing could be morphed for use with Steph in her own shape. Maybe Tailor could do it.
I don't think that there is any conspiracy on the part of clothing modelers. Vic spent a lot of time running around naked at first also, (heck, she still does). It took awhile before she had the huge wardrobe she has available today.
RoyG, you miss the point(s). Stephanie loses her versatility if she can't be herself and wear clothes. No, I don't think this is a consipiracy. I do think, however that sometimes people don't think much when characters are designed. Again, it makes no sense in my mind to say "I'm giving you a wonderful new woman, with her own unique body. And she can wear someone else's clothes, if we take away that wonderful unique body." Many months ago I got ahold of Dina, on the heels of that controversy. Dina has sat "on a shelf" all these months because she seems to lack widespread support in the community, especially for the all important freebies. Now there is a version of Dina that wears Vicky's clothes. Somehow this Dina can't have all the benefits of the "old Dina," or she wouldn't be able to wear Vicky's clothes. But in the end, you're expected to pay for the privelege of dumping the "original Dina" you already paid for just to have more versatility for this one. It's the same for Stephanie. We get this great new character that really ends up being another Vicky with a different face.
I'm really surprised that the clothing makers haven't jumped on the bandwagon and done some more things for the Stephanie figure. I wish they would. She does have a different body shape and the world is made up of different body types. It would make an image more diverse. Any clothing makers out there willing to take on the task? I've always wanted to make clothes, but I have absolutely no modeling skills other than very basic things like jewelry and props. I really admire the folks who can do it. It's certainly not easy. Melanie
Ron- I'm planning on adding "true" Stephanie morphs to my existing Vickie stuff too, including the French Maid set, which I think you have. I agree incidently, Stephanie should have clothing that fits her real body, or at least morphs to it. As (I think) the CR2 joint parameters are identical and they are the same height, it isn't like trying to fit the Posette. Thanks, Roy G! ;-)
RoyG, unfortunately sometimes we don't look beyond what seems "like a good deal." Hey it sounds wonderful when someone reads "Stephanie is great because she wears Vicky's clothes." That's as far as some people will read. But if you stress the fact that Stephanie in essence becomes Vicky, this doesn't seem like such a great deal. Hell it took me awhile to realize this totally. Why? Because I either wasn't doing many Stephanie renders, or I just did a lot of nudes. The funny thing is I think Jim Burton was the one who tried to tell us this very fact a few weeks ago. I lose track of time. Like so many others, I just buzzed right over this one.
So far, I've had no problems with Stephanie fitting in to Vicki's clothes, but the fact is, she's slimmer and the clothes are just slightly too large for her. I would like to see some clothes that fit her slim figure, too. The end result looks different in the render. She has a smaller waistline than Vicki. Risking sounding like a teenager here, but I think Stephanie-specific clothing would look cute on her with that slender build. Melanie
I get the impression that the Tailor only does "bigger", never pulls the mesh in to match a thinner shape. It does super for something like Vickie's breast size 38DDD, it gets confused when you tell it to fit the Stephanie morphs on Stephane (which should work, as the default is Vickie, Stephanie gets there via a FBM). For what it does it is amazing, though.
At that point it might be just as easy to actually make the morphs in the modeling program! I have no documentation on how the Tailor works, but I bet it does something along the lines of transfering the morphs deltas (that is, the direction and the amount the vertexes move), rather than some kind of collision detection. After seeing how it works I think the former is more likely, that is why it is so helpless on fitting clothing to other figures - what it is actually doing is transferring morphs, not fitting mesh.
