If I import obj file to poser and then scale and fit it to the figure. Export it to poser runtime geometries folder (not sure the folder matters) and reimport the obj back into poser (without boxes checked) then it fits to figure directly. But if I understand it correctly it means I can't export a cr2 from daz and use it in poser because I have to export as an obj and back in to get it to fit. Am I doing something wrong?

Another question I have is...which folder should the obj file be in when I am selecting how to import it into Poser? Does it matter? (It doesn't seem to make a difference to it not fitting. I have tried it in a folder from my Docs as well as from Poser runtime geometries and daz runtime geometries and it still imports to floor)

Hioushi, I love your pic! Yes I do have all the options unchecked but it keeps putting it on the floor unscaled. I think the only way I can get it to import into poser fit directly to the figure is if I first import the geometry into Daz, and then use skeleton set up and export as an obj and use that to import into Poser. But of course it seems like I shouldn't need to fit it to skeleton in Daz and then I need to set it up in Poser with a skeleton from a blank cr2 or am I missing something here? I am very confused. :-)

Thank you for getting back to me. Yes I have grouped everything in blender as closely as posisble to the groupings for the base figure model. The only problem I ran into is that blender seems to call the lCollar what poser and daz (and normal human beings!) call the rCollar and vice versa. I did try and regroup in poser but I am having so many other problems not sure of the effect of that!
And I just double checked. If I export the obj file from blender and then import that directly into poser then no it ends up on the floor and in the wrong scale. Thanks!

ps it seems to me (if I understand things correctly) that if I am going to use set up room in Poser maybe I should be importing geometry directly from blender rather than through daz. And if I am going to use skeleton set up in Daz. Then I should somehow find a way to get that to work in Poser without needing the set up room to rig it. Is that correct?

Ok got an answer to this...apparently Daz recognizes where you load the object from. Doesn't matter if its in the right runtime directory or not if you didn't load it into skeleton setup tools the right way. An important piece of information!!!
One more tick in this crazy learning curve! ;-)

Wonder if anyone can help me with another problem...
Was using fst in daz before to create the cr2 file which is how I set up the vest before. But now I suddenly can't get daz to export the cr2 file from the program. It keeps giving me a poser path error. (It worked last week so no idea what has changed!)
Anyway...when I try it says it does not hacve a runtime geometries folder. But as far as I can tell it does! I have saved it here:
C:Program Files (x86)Smith MicroPoser 7RuntimeGeometriesvestforM4directfromblender62.obj
and tried to export cr2 to the same path but instead of geometries...librariescharacter.
Then I get the error message.
Obj file is also in other folders and places on computer...not sure if that matters...like here:
C:UsersHeatherDocumentsClothes for freakvestforM4directfromblender62.obj
and here:
C:UsersHeatherDocumentsDAZ 3DStudio3contentRuntimeGeometriesMy OBJ Files
Any help for this frustrating problem would be appreciated!

Ok followed her instructions exactly to import and it fits to the figure. So far so good!!!!!!

This is my workflow...maybe that will give someone a better idea...

I created the clothing model in blender. I exported it as an obj file.
In poser I loaded the base figure I modelled it to. Then I imported the obj clothing file I created in blender.
I positioned and scaled the clothing obj to fit on the base figure.
(First I tried exporting and importing again as suggested but that is when I got the result above).
Then I started the same process over as above. Then I delted base figure. Selected clothing obj file and sent to set up room where I added the blank cr2 file or M4. then back to pose.
In pose I loaded base figure back up and I conformed the clothing file to base figure so it moves when I change poses fo base figure.
But again when I export as an obj and bring it back in to poser I get the result pictured above where the vest reverts to the wrong scale and location. Thanks.

Ok its been a couple of days since I did this last time and maybe I am forgetting how to do it all!
I tried to position the vest I created over the base figure in Poser. (I created that obj file originally in Blender) I positionted it. Exported it as an obj file and then imported it back in. But the best I can get is it to import back in at his feet. And unscaled again.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Thread: deformers for clothes? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks nruddock...I think its unimesh but I will look into it. I think I export polygroups as a setting option so hopefully ok.
Have figured out how to select where the original figure is grouped in blender so maybe that will help me group it better!

After working through the magnet basics tutorial with Dr. Geep I have a couple more questions...
Is it inadvisable in poser for vertices to belong to more than one group in conforming clothes?
Also I created the model in blender. Is there a way to see where on the base figure the original groups are so that I can group them more exactly for the clothes? (Sorry that might be a blender question)
I am assuming too since I did the entire upper half of the vest as "chest" this might explain the problem of poke through at the collars as it seems to me these areas would have been collars on the original figure.
Any thoughts are always much appreciated!
