Rendo forum states the V4 can be converted to the weight mapping as can all of the clothes. Same forum states that 2012 Pro has both 64bit and 32 bit programs, so it will run on 32bit
Same place, different thread BB, has some SSS renders on show.
Never been so keen to spend money in my life before.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Thanks Rance01, I don't purchase much from Daz these days, and what I have purchased I have not really had a problem. I specified an external runtime in the new installer and in each case and it appears to work fine. Maybe I have been lucky in the past but as you say it may well be an improvement.

I wonder if there is any significance in the fact the new Daz installer does not mention Poser. You now have to do a ‘custom install’ and the ‘specify a path’. Mind you it also has an option to put a short cut on your desktop, not sure what that is all about but it could be a very busy desktop if it is to show runtime contents.

I have a system just for graphics so no Microsoft Office and the like. It does have Vue 8, Carrera 8 Pro, Poser 2010 Pro, Paint Shop Pro X12, Bryce (I think 5.5 but I haven't used it in ages) and recently added Silo. I have Kindle for the PC so I can read a manual or tutorial on one monitor while working in the main program on a second.
For back up I use the hard drive management suite from from Paragon and Opditracker for DVD storage.
I have had one crash in the 14 months since I built it and that did not appear to be program specific. Poser 2010 has never stopped or crashed and I use it most days.
I guess after this I will have tempted fate and it will but on past history I will not be able to blame the programs.

Stange as it may seem, the more popular Genisis becomes the less likely I am to use it. Even with V4 I do try and produce something a little different from the norm. I do buy content from a lot of vendors (believe me, you should see the Rendo account) but this is really because I do not have the skills to produce my own, although I am trying (my wife finds me very trying).
With most my renders I have tried to modify the tecture, lighting, displacement and use morphs to change the character such as changing the height and apparent age. My aim is always to try a produce something/someone who could be real although not photo realistic. As most my interest is either well in the future or the past, photo realistic is not really relevent. Most of all I try and produce something that pleases me.
I still have a lot to learn about V4 and Poser and I do not really want to spend my time trying to learn another program unless it gives me a great deal more scope to be different. So far I have not seen this in Genesis.
I am still open to be convinced differently but until some skillful artists show my Geneisis is worth the effort I will happily stick to Poser.
I have never been a man of few words so this is a very long winded NO.......ask me again in a couple of years,

As everyone has already said thus happens and unfortunatley is a fact of life so don't beat yourself up over it. I know how I felt when I sent a virus my checker had not noticed to a recruitment agency. Luckily their anti-virus picked it up.......oh and I didn't get the job.
I have also added my contact details to my pwn contact list. That way if something hyjacks my list I get a message as well so at least I am aware it has happened.

Thread: OT? Nearly lost everything! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
With the cost of large drives being fairly cheap I use an external Sata caddy and keep one drive at home and another in a second location. Each Drive has an image of the 'C' drive and then all the data is in another folder. I use DVD RAM disks for some data as they are supposed to last longer and even then I copy them to new disks every 3 years.
I still use the PC I had for my Poser work up to a year ago and last week one drive stopped without warning. All I could hear was the sickening tick of a dead drive, I suspect the drive is not spinning at all but thankfully the DVDs served their purpose. The drive was 6 years old so I guess I have had my monies worth.
Backing up can be a pain but sooner or later it bites if you don't.

Thread: The Poser questions that Can't be Answered... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm not anti-Daz, without them I would not have found out about 3D art work and without their free program allowing me to find out what could be done with such a Program I would never have stumped up the cash to buy Poser.
That said I am now a Poser user but still careful with my cash. Despite this I still happily paid for each upgrade and with the last one, Poser Pro 2010, I not only upgraded but built a system around it. I moved to 64bit processing only because Poser was now able to make use of it.
Could Poser be better, of course, but then I could have a much better computer if I had thrown more money at it. I think Poser is great value for money and I have little doubt I will upgrade to the next version of Poser Pro, assuming there is one, Genesis support or not.
Until then the present incarnation gives me all the pleasure and challenges I need leaving me safe in the knowledge that SM will tell me when the next upgrade is available.

I am still a little bewildered by this desire to be told what is in the next version of Poser and, in particular, support for Genesis. I am not anti Daz but I have to say I have seen nothing yet that would make Genesis a 'must have' and I have seen the video, looked at the morphs and the new Character at Daz. When I see renders that show aspects not possible with the present V4 I will be interested.
I understand it is early days for Genesis and people need time to undersatnd the new figure but so far I am not really impressed.
So I am not at all interested in whether the next incarnation of Poser will have Genesis support. I might be interested in whether the Poser after that has support but until I can see something worth spending my money on I will continue my relationship with V4 and carry on trying to expand my knowledge of Poser and 3D art in general (and to think it will save me money to boot, a win win situation).

Thread: Pro 2010 library 'fault'? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The other possibility is a windows update which, if you have them on auto update, you would not have been aware of. However if that was the case I would expected more people to have the issue.
A few years ago I was using Zone Alarm and all of a sudden it stopped working. I did not have the time to diagnose the problem immediately and when I did it had been traced to a Window's update. Neither company would own up to the problem but the people behind Zone Alarm patched it. The very next version of ZA then had a tendancy to corrupt its on files and had to be mended almost on a monthly basis. After some months it became clear that they were unable or, unwilling, to fix the bug. So ZA has now joined the pile of Anti-Virus software I refused to put on anyone's machine let alone my own.

"Norton and McAfee...Europe systems get one of them them as standard. When I buy a new machine, I throw them away as far as I can, before ever going to the net. Both are unbelievable garbadge."
Agree with the concensus although, I can remeber a time when Norton's was good, not sure about McAfee as I did not use it. What surprises me is the number of PC systems that now have Solid State Drives for a fast start up only for the anti virus to wipe out the porcessor for the next few minutes---or more.
I too have had the message shown but as with cspear it was linked to Adobe Air and a restart of the library cleared it. I have also had the library start but remain deviod of runtimes, once again a library restart fixes the problem.

Thread: Need Help creating clothing, beginner at this form of creation... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have tried for years to get my head around clothing and it's creation for Poser and given up many times. Recently however, Fugazi1968, started selling his tutorials under the banner of The Digital Tailor. Having purchased the first one I quickly went on to add almost all of the series. The videos show the use of Silo for modelling but I imagine that Wings 3D will do much the same (perhaps someone who knows both progams can confirm or deny this). I tried with Hexagon but could not easily transfer the tools so I purchased a copy of Silo after using the free demo version. This is not a criticisum of the tutorials, more a fact that I did not know Hexagon very well and Silo appreas to be very much more user friendly.
I understand cost is an issue but the tutorials are broken down into small chunks and are at a reasonable price. I have no connection to Fugazi1968 other than being a happy customer who has managed to create a single item of clothing after years of trying. The item was a simple dress but it fits, has the right grouping and is conformed to V4. Morphs allowed me to fit the dress to a character I use which is V4 with a height of 5' 6" rather the the standard height which was an added factor to consider. Not only that I now have enough confidence to try some real creations and bring my ideas to life.

Quote - Now a pinup of a naked seeming V4 holding a strategically placed toy bear should be a hit. Guys like fit looking naked women and guys like plushy toys ( admit it ya do )
Ok I admit it .... I have a collection of Teddy Bears...but then I don't know the description of 'guy' fits me that well as I have never been one for being down the pub with the guys, being down the pub with the girls is a different prospect altogether (OK I can dream). Ohh and my wife tells me I have never passed a mental age of ten.
Strange then that I have never posted an image of a nekkid Vicky or a teddy bear, not that I am posting much at the moment as I am trying to get my head around Silo.

I don't think anyone was demanding comments, it was purely an observation that started this thread. How you respond/react to comments is clearly down to the individual and, on the face of it, they seem to have some control over whether commets can be left or not.
I am always happy when people view my images, even more so when they take the time leave any comment. If they also help me improve my skills so more the better.
