David, "wiki" is just another internet spawned term. It is taken from the Hawaiian language, and means "quick" or "fast." There are alll sorts of wiki sites, "pedias" are just one form. Generally, it means any online reference resource that is open to user input and editing.

I hope Renderosity's management will restore the information. Too many people have put a tremendous amount of work into that project, for no personal gain at all, but simply to help others.

Removing the Rendo-wiki seems not only rather inconsiderate to those who labored so hard to create it, but a bad business decision as well. Why buy products from a vendor that can be so complex to use properly if there's no free assistance readily available?

Besides, I don't care what these smart aleck nutritionists say, frosty chocolate malteds are very good for you. They have hardly any calories at all, and can really improve your complexion.

This is what I was talking about regarding Facebook. When I was hacked, the only damage done was tons of spam and scammer emails. Not dangerous, but irritating that people would do such a thing. Eliminating that disposable address is a simple cure.

So is staying away from those so called "social networking" sites. The only thing social about them is the sociopaths that hang out there.

If you're a Facebook user (shudder), cancel your membership.....now. Professional goons hacked my email account through that god-awful site, but because I use the same method bagginsbill described to protect myself, the damage was minimal.

A friend of mine Todd, wasn't so cautious, or fortunate. Thanks to the Facebook lurkers, his life was a living hell for four or five weeks. Then he got gob smacked again by the Playstation security collapse. That hit didn't do any real harm, but he had to renew all his credit cards to play it safe. I wonder how many customers Sony lost because of that fiasco?

Anyway what I expect, nay, demand, for the next release of Poser is an improved hair room, a tailor shop with basic clothing meshes that can be easily altered and made to conform to the figure being used with no more than two mouse clicks, a texture creation module that allows one to directly paint on a model's surface. It should also be cheap, crash proof, require no patches abd come with a complimentary, autographed nude photo of our favorite celebrity, excepting Lady Gaga or Madonna. That would be cruel.

P.S. I really would like that hair room and tailor shop. Also, the picture.

I don't hate DAZ studio, I just don't care for it. For me, Poser runs faster and has a much friendlier user interface. Every new version actually offers genuine improvements, and although I find Firefly can  behave strangely sometimes, I suspect that's due to my lack of skill and dedication rather than any serious flaws in the application.

Anyone here ever have a Dreamcast? I used to play a lot of Unreal Tournament and Quake Arena online. Sixteen players per map on a 56k baud modem, and lag was fairly rare.

The SOCOM sereies on the PS2 was fun, too. I killed many terrorists as Col. Mustard, then the hackers ruined it.

I was cured of my video game Jones years ago, but I can't attribute my kicking of the habit to anything but boredom. Games seem to have devolved into nothing but a series of sequels and unispired copies of something that's been done a hundred times before.

I still play the old classics on Mame. It's a perfect way to relax for half an hour, although Ms. Pac Man can still make me want to throw my controller at the monitor.

Sincere condolences on the passing of your mother. It's devastating when we lose those we dearly love, especially a parent or child.

Much as I adore them, I can't have cats any more. When they die, I grieve for weeks. My last baby, Buttermilk, was seventeen when we had to have her put down. She was suffering terribly from all the condidtions associated with feline old age, and the vet said it was the best thing to do. Maybe so, but I still feel guilty as hell. Never again.
