Kaom , Just a thought here, could you create it in Photoshop or whatever 2d app you have and create a grey scale image showing all the bevels etc, and then import it to the terrain modeller. I have been thinking about this to help create landscape terrains but I think it could work for you. Regards Mike Moir

Welcome back Kaom, I remember your name. C3 is quite a big improvement over c2 ,especially in the area of modelling and rendering. The vm modeller is much improved and things generally are alot easier to do. I have been using Carrara professionally as well and for my architectural renderings it has served me well. Regards Mike Moir

Danamo, Thanks for the comments , I don't do landscapes in Carrara that much (this is 3rd one maybe) but I forsee that Carrara can still do much more in the landscape area . It just takes practice. Regards Mike

Bluetone, I set up the mountains just by moving them until they looked okay. They are terrains with one of the new preset shaders applied to them . The haze was applied in the atmosphere settings to give the image some depth. The Birds are very quick Sub D models I did in C3. Congrats on the baby . Bickermouse , yes I definitely need to get better at creating the terrains and texturing them.Something to work on in the future. Thanks for the comments. Regards Mike

As a first time judge , I found it difficult to pick just 3. I narrowed it down to 8 entries fairly easily, after that it was difficult. I ended up choosing Image #31,#12 and #9 with image #32 being forth. I judged on Theme and image apeal and quality of image. Congratulations Kirk. Regards Mike Moir

Have you tried talking to the digit folks. They could probably point you in the right direction. Carrara 2 is much more stable then Carrara 1.1 was . Carrara 3 looks to be good too. Mike

There is a patch available at Eovia's website to extend the life of C3 beta until your Full C3 arrives.
Thread: UV Editor in C3 | Forum: Carrara
C3's UV editor has similarities to UVmapper. Try the following. 1.create your vertex object to be mapped . Make it a simple cube to start. 2. click cube, then click "uvmapping" tab in the properties tray 3. Change "custom" mapping to box mapping(leave at default) 4. Now click the "uv editor" button beside the mapping mode 5.The UV editor screen appears. Under the "projection tab" choose "box" mode and then select one of the three options that appear for box mode. The one farthest right showing all sides of the box is the one to click , then click apply. 6. The editor window should change to reflect that the mapping of your object has changed. It should make more sense to look at now. 7.Now under the "display" tab you can "export" the new uv map as a jpeg. 8.Save your carrara file then open your image edit program and edit your uvmap you just exported( add colors etc.) Save this new texture map. 9.Reopen carrara file and apply saved texture map to your model . 10. In the uv editor you can show the texture map that is on your model . Hope this helps Regards Mike Moir
