I can't remember offhand if freestuff thumbs have a size limit too, but this might interest you. Search freestuff for 'wallpaper'. The first page of results should include three contributions by a member called evolsdoom. Check the filesize of the thumbs - dunno how he/she did it, but all three are around the 500K mark. I came across these a while back, this thread jogged my memory. Cheers - Graham

Yep, a stretched cylinder sounds like the easiest way to go. As for the transparency, how about using a 'cloudy' transmap, so the beam intensity varies over its length like the real thing would as it passes through the air? You might want to increase the ambient colour level as well, to get an effective glow. - Graham

At the RuntimeDNA store you can search by 'theme', which includes the category of Gothic - as igohigh points out though, this is a definition with wide boundaries! RDNA freestuff might be a good bet too. - Graham

Interesting - I've never seen the GI Joe jeep before (I'm English BTW - I suppose our equivalent was 'Action Man'), but I just did a quick Google image search, and I can see why it's being suggested! I'm guessing that the designers of the GI Joe VAMP drew their inspiration from the same real-world vehicle as I did. In fact they also seem to have taken design cues from a second vehicle that borrowed heavily from this original vehicle - er... this is getting complicated now :) All will be made (relatively) clear in the next hour or so, unless a military 4x4 expert shows up and saves me an explanation! Cheers - Graham

And of course, if you're touting a 4000x4000 texture map, you're going to be equally proud of the 4000x4000 bump map that goes with it ;) Extremely useful info Mason - I had no idea of the importance of keeping texture sizes to powers of 2. I think I feel a bout of texture resizing coming on! - gps

If you do decided to buy UVMapperPro (and you really should, it's excellent), it has a function to make facets two-sided (it's under the Tools menu). I think that might help. At the very least it'll make the head easier to look at in Poser's display window ;) - Graham

Having just had a peek at your gallery and seeing what you managed to do with Poser 3, I don't think it'll take you long to get through the 'learning portion' of Poser 4! If I remember correctly, the Michael/Freak connection goes back to the launch of Michael 3, when the Freak was included free as part of the deal, although I think you also had to be a Platinum Club member... Anyway, these days he's a stand-alone figure. And, as you guessed, he stands alone bald and naked ;) BTW, with Poser 4 you can finally bid farewell to plastic helmet hair. Pay a visit to http://digitalbabes2.com/ and check out Kozaburo's wonderful free hair props. He pioneered the concept of transmapped hair, and he's still probably the best exponent of the technique. Looks very good indeed!. I was planning to do one of these myself - got all the reference pics I could find, so I'm well positioned to do a texture map if you don't get any other volunteers (and the mapping as well, I think I could sharpen up some of those edges and fix some of those glitches for you with UVMapperPro). Cheers - Graham
