Actually in Poser 5 I've found the Dynamic hair can bring some amazing things to life if you use the wind force prop to do some of the shaping. I think Poser 5 is missing only three things... 1. A good Undo or 'Step-Back' function 2. Stability (The SR's are going a long way to fixing this) 3. Select Multiple objects. P5 has some issues of course, but that doesnt mean DAZ will have all the answers (but we can always hope)
Thread: Poser 5 serial number in Vue? | Forum: Vue
If you have Poser4 on your system already, then just install Poser 5 in a different directory (C:Poser 5 by default) then you can map the library to your old Poser4 content Good old Vue won't even know the difference.. it will continue to look at the old Poser4 file for your license key. I have Vue 4, Poser 4 and Poser 5 on my D: drive and its all fine. (of course being a PC guy myself I dont know about Mac users but I imagine the concept is still the same)

Aaaah, now thats interesting ... okay so I cant use Vue's render engine on P5 dynamic hair. It looks like Poser have moved away from allowing their product to be used hand-in-hand with things like Vue and are relying more on their own engine.. on the good side however, all of the Poser4 products still work and the upgrade means you can keep P4 and P5 on your PC .. I'm pretty sure the licensing would allow you to use both :-) Thanks for that Eric, it saved me some hours of frustration in the future :-) Mark

Yep agreed, Poser5 is fine for me because it still just reads the PZ3 file .. but if you have moved or removed your Poser4 executable file (on the PC) then you'll have some issues. I dont think its Vue not supporting Poser5 (because it just imports the file format rather then any interaction with Poser) but rather CL changed the serial number system and E-on havn't (or may not) update their own engine to support it. Its true, but I am not asking for loads of tutorials, they are built from people who have experience, what I am trying to prompt is the sharing of information about a new product.. all I have seen so far is complaints about it :-) - Mark

The face room is molding the face using the putty system? Do the standard vicky/mike morphs work still?

I have pro pack also .. spent the money and then the deal to get Lightwave on the cheap fell through .. I might install that to see how it goes .. Either way, I put in an order for Vue last night at e-onsoftware. Looks like I might be visiting this forum more often from now on :-)

Apologies, after doing some further investigation I discovered that it wasn't Vue D'Esprit not importing per-se but rather a Hair product that Vue seems to be ignoring. I imported with Daz Flip Hair, no problems, with Jim Burtons Las-Vegas hair the model came through with no hair at all .. I will investigate this further, but my thanks to Gebe for the reply, I know that I am on the right track now.

I've used the import utility for LW using a friends dongle (please dont take the wrong idea from THAT one) and it looked okay except for (again) lack of transparencies .. but he was in a hurry and so I didnt have time to go through the poser lightwave panel. It seems the poser users favour Vue rather then Bryce, after fixing some of the bryce issues I found it to be very nice renderer (if, as mentioned, a little slow) I am downloading Vue at the moment, but I've seen an image made in vuw here that took my breath away , so I am certainly inclined to try it.

Got it .. no I havnt commited to bryce or anything except poser yet, I am looking at Lightwave but its cost is rather daunting. Thank you very much for the advise, I hope to be making poser/bryce images very soon :-)
