Thread: So many updates... | Forum: Vue
Thanks, Varian. I am enjoying the stuff I downloaded. Actually, I was having some trouble figuring out Vue's strange way of storing things in it's own libraries. I wanted to get all that stuff from your site, in addition to all the other great stuff all organized into folders and what not, and then alll the materials and all... 66 models! Man, you're killing me! Ya see, I gotta be organized... I can't have fun with Vue knowing I have 66 new models sitting somewhere out of place! ;) Thanks Varian! The new tutorials are cool, too. :) Cheers, Mike
Thread: Poser animation to Vue ? | Forum: Vue
I would tend to doubt it. I have not seen any other import formats other than Vue's native formats and the 3D formates and picture formats... no .avi or .mov. But, of course, you CAN make a Poser flick and export every frame as .obj and all, so then your Poser cahracter is interacting with your Vue environment. I would seriously doubt you could import only keyframes and expect to get the Poser character to act how you want. It is too bad that avi's can't be imported in their entirety, but if you think about it, they'd have to play on the sky, and anything added in Vue, animation wise or scenery wise would all be in the foreground. I would do it the other way around, and import a Vue animation into Poser. Cheers, Mike
Thread: Huh? | Forum: Community Center
You know, I was wondering if I was seeing my first account of that, because I have never seen the gallery moving as slowly as it was, and I also first got a message that there were too many people online or something, but the count at the top only said like 300 something. So I guess people think they're gonna be clever and just try to download the entire gallery all at one time, huh? Leave the computer running all night and come back to a drive full of fresh pictures? Meanwhile, who cares if the people who legitimately visit this site have to be inconvenienced? I'm glad you have the equipment and ability to track such things. :) Cheers, Mike

Wow, Dave, thanks---that's far more info than I would have expected! I didn't know about the "family" thing or what you're talking about at the bottom of the interface. I mostly use Vue d'Esprit, but I'm starting to really like Bryce 4 too for different things, such as the ease of using the cameera controls and the flexibility in rendering, and of course all that great volumetric stuff. I'm only now getting to the point of learning the things involved with using multiple objects. Thank you very much. Cheers, Mike

Holli, I don't think it's possible-- not that I know of at least. There doesn't seem to be any importing available for AVI or QT. Sorry. :( Cheers, Mike
Thread: Is there a way to pan in Vue? | Forum: Vue
LOL! And to think I felt bad for not going through the tutorials! Really... I just started the first one and said the hell with it, and went on to making pictures. Actually, I was making some food when the Fed Ex guy showed up, so the first thing I did was to read through the manual while I was eating, and when I went to bed that night I read the rest of it, but I haven't even looked in it lately. Hey speaking of which, on page 257 in the acknowledgements paragraph, our very own Guitta Bertaud is mentioned. :) I think I did know about the camera thingie but forgot... I seem to have a very vague remembrance of going through one of the tutorials in the manual. Cheers, Mike

If you have Poser 4, there's a Bryce 4 demo on the Content CD. Other than that, I don't think Meta Creations ever issued a downloadable demo for it, and I don't know if the new owner, Corel, has or will, but you might want to check out their website, www.corel.com I think that's there URL, but I wouldn't swear to it. Unlike the Vue demo, the Bryce demo will not allow you to save any pictures at all, and I think that anti-aliasing is disabled too. 3D World magazine had free copies of the full Bryce 3D program a couple months ago, and I'm sure you could order a copy from somewhere but I wouldn't know where. Yopu would be better off asking this at the Bryce forum, though, because I'm sure they would know more about it there. Cheers, Mike

I have both Bryce 4 and Vue 3, too, and I use them both. Vue does seem to render more quickly, and I agree that when it comes to changing materials, I think it's alot easier to do with Vue. Moving and selecting objects is easier too, because they're all listed in the World Browser, and you have the four views to work with. I use Bryce for some things and Vue for others. I think Vue's ability for generating realistic landscapes and vegetation is somewhat better than Bryce's. If you have to get just one, get Vue, but I think everyone should have both. Cheers, Mike

If there is a way, I don't know it, but would love to be able to also. I've said several times that I wished Vue had a trackball type camera setup.
Thread: Another poser-object mapping tip | Forum: Vue
Well, I'll be damned, MaryCanary. All these tips in such a short time...cool! I guess this sort of thing also explains why DXF objects texture, even though they have no UV's? I'm wondering though how it occurred to you to do the big bad thing and remove the UV info from a .obj? Lots of experimentation, eh? Thanks again :) Cheers, Mike
Thread: Important tip for importing poser figures | Forum: Vue
Really? I didn't know THAT either. And all this time I've been going about it the hard way! Thanks! Cheers, Mike <<< running off to check this out..... :)

Oh Mary Canary, don't get me wrong now. I have in fact started saving materials since reading your suggestion. It hadn't occurred to me. Doh. But your idea is a good one, and probably the best solution of all. :) I continually alter my Poser character textures though with Painter, and when you do that alot, that's when the convenience of exporting with a texture comes in handy. But now since reading what you said, I have set up numerous materials in the Vue library. Thanks! :) The Vue materials are very easy to alter, also, something else which I always have trouble with in Bryce. Cheers, Mike
