Paul, I see now that the patch has the number 118 attached to it... I have it but I hadn't noticed until now. I still haven't figured out how to install the damn thing though, as there seem to be a few differrent versions of it out there. Jim, Traveler's site is down. Anyway, I do have the Amorphium morph target tutorial printed out, but the problem I had with it is that the version of Compose he used in it is an earlier version than what I was able to find, and alot has changed. I tried that tutorial many many times and was unable to make it work, due to the changes. Do you know where I can get a copy of the earlier version of Compose.... I think it was version 1.0? Thanks Mike

Thank you, all of you... what is it I keep hearing about this patch? I have Poser 4, with the 4.02 patch, but all of a sudden I'm hearing about something called "4.0.2.118". Is there something I'm missing here? Also, I don't seem to have the option of exporting morph target .obj's.. I looked all over, but I just can't do it. Thanks again1 Mike

Thank you... I'll try that. Since the time I wrote that question, I have been making my own hair in Amorphium, and have come up with some pretty unusual (to say the least!) styles. The magnets seem to work even better on the hair I've made, and the Poser 4 hair I've altered. I think it's because Amorphium adds alot of extra polygons, in order to make stuff "thicker" for molding. I already have the Objaction Mover, and it was a GODSEND. Until I happened upon it, I couldn't get any of Poser's .obj's into Amorphium. DXF...yes, but no .obj's. Do you know how I can learn how to make the new hair into a conforming .hr2 after I'm done with it? Thanks again! Mike.... I'll let you know how it turns out, and I appreciate the email offer. Don't be surprised if I take you up on it!

Thread: Grouping Tool | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I played around with it some today, but although it seems to be doing SOMETHING, I can't really say for sure WHAT. It asks me to name the new groups and such, but I really haven't been able to figure it out...so then I lost interest and went back to the other POser-type things I DO understand. I'm hoping the grouping tool turns out to be like the magnets... I had a major mental block over the magnets, and then all of a sudden...BAM...I can do anything I want now.... I think the sheer vagueness and mystery of the GT inspires one to over-think it... Mike

Hey Paul, That sounds like a terrific idea, and I, for one would GREATLY apprecciate it! I was gonna send you an email, but I really didn't know what to ask about, as I realy don't understand ANYTHING about the grouping tool. And, I agree about the manual's uselessness, at least as far as the GT is concerned. It tells you what all the options accomplish, but it fails to explain WHY you want to use it, and what you should expect to get out of it. I was reading a recent tutorial posted here, about using it to make certain areas transparent, and it occurred to me I need to learn more about it. Thank you!! Have a GREAT day! Mike PS...the manual isn't ENTIRELY useless... it makes a great paperweight for holding down all those Poser tutorials I've downloaded and printed ;)

Morph Manager does EXACTLY THAT, and it's free!..it's lying around here somewhere...in the Free Stuff section I think, Mike

Storm, Yeah.. I just figured that out too. Nothing is available here either.. not only MY thing..NOTHING. I keep getting a browser window that says, undefineable new url, or something like that. Is that what you're seeing too? Mike

I have been using Amorphium to make hair models...actually, after many attempts, I almost have my first one completed. It's a long and tedious process, but this is what I've been doing: Creating many different objects and selectively merging them together. One at a time I save them as Amorphium Objects, and then delete all the excess crap Amorphium leaves behind after "merging", re-open it and add some more. I'm sure I'm going about it the stupid way, but it works and I really can't afford to be buying more programs until I figure out what I already have. ;) Mike

Storm, Thanks alot! I just DID upload it and tested it, and it worked as it should, but when I left the site and came back, it is now in the "What's New" section, but the link doesn't work to download it. I have NO IDEA why, as like I said, it worked when I tested it, and all the URL's are correct, although the message I get says, "Incorrect URL" Go figure :( Thanks again ! If it's not one thing, it's another! Mike

Well, thank you , Kevin!!! I haven't tried it out yet; I just downloaded it, but I wanted to say, "Thank you" as soon as possible.... each and every day that I open one of my 3D programs and wonder,..."..why and what?", I thank God that helpful people such as you exist! Excuse me for sounding overly dramatic, but I would literally be nowhere in my knowledge if it weren't for the people who are so willing to share what they have found, learned and created! Thanks again! Mike

Yep. That works. Thanks alot! :) I've only had Poser 4 for slightly over a week now, and I'm trying to learn all this stuff at once, but it's getting easier now.
Thread: Deanna Troy | Forum: Poser Technical
Well, I hadn't thought of that... Thanks! But, this brings me to the next thing; Yes, in fact, the window is set to texture shaded, and when I try to use any of the other textures, such as "outline", she still remains texture shaded... will not change... I'm beginning to think she's possessed.
Thread: Deanna Troy | Forum: Poser Technical
Okay, I'll try to explain this as well as I can: First of all, the .zip file didn't contain the clothing or even a "painted on" texture of clothes. She is nude. If I want to see a rendering of, say, the P4 Nude Woman, I have to press render in the toolbar at the top of the interphase, and then I see her skin texture, eye color, etc. But with Deanna, she loads in already textured, and I don't mean the standard default texture... you know, the way they look in the Libraries window. What I meant by "move" is whgen I POSE her, she maintains that texture as she is moved around the document window. Now, P4 Nude woman loads with that "plastic-looking" skin. If I want to see her "natural" skin (based on the texture map), I have to press Render and wait for the shadow maps, and then you get the little guy sidestepping across the progress window, and then her texture map loads and she looks almost real. The second I move (pose) her, the texture vanishes and I'm back to the plastic look. Not so with Deanna... she looks quite real throughout ALL poses and movements. Now ya got me wondering...is there something wrong with HER, or is there something wrong with everyone else? Whatever it is,... there is something VERY different about her than all of my other characters.
