Quote - As a head's up these concerns should be brought up via an e mail to admin@renderosity.com. and not posted to a forum...
I'm glad Burpee brought it up. I now know that a character that "has scales all over" which "hides any breast skin" is a no-no in the thumbs.
'Cause personally, I thought it was actual nudity in the thumbs that would cause an image to be yanked; not scaly, no-breast-skin thumbs. Or a thumb featuring a different texture that doesn't show the skin upon breasts.
So this member is now even more well informed, thanks to burpee. (Because I have read the TOS and wouldn't have interpreted them to mean that such a thumb was considered a violation).
Thread: OT: Hey i saw my teacher from 7 years ago!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I saw my calculus teacher at a bonsai auction and I was thinking "where did she get the
dough to buy this stuff on a teacher's pittance?"
LOL! If you looked up teachers' salaries in various districts, you'd be surprised! (Especially if the teacher has a Master's degree or Doctorate. :P
One can do a lot with 90,000+ a year (especially if he/she knows how to save)! ;)

Sorry for not being able to add anything of note here. But I hafta comment on:

As usual, I'm right back where I'm always at.
Bagginsbill, your work effing amazes me.

And thank you, shedofjoy, for your incredible offering and this thread!

My 1¢: I think everybody should pick the lowest income range so the next version of poser won't skyrocket in price.
Seriously, though: ditto the others who mentioned wanting a text field.
The questions were too limited.

Quote - maybe the people dont know Enlish that well and thats why they use a premade line...
I know of at least one person here who does this for the precise reason you mentioned.
Quote - Sometime I wonder if the artwork is really being looked at anymore! ...I see comments like GREAT RENDER and its a photograph...huh?
lol!! On the other hand, I envy those whose renders make me think it's a photo! :p
Btw, I saw a very spirited scifi image featuring a masculine, grit-covered fellow; one comment left was, "she is beautiful!" Of course, I laughed. After thinking about the variety of languages represented on this forum, though, it made me wonder if the commenter spoke a language in which the word for 'render' or 'image' (etc.) was feminine.
Sometimes I laugh first before thinking...
Quote - ...on the other hand I don't think someone should ask for critical feedback if they aren't going to like it when they get well criticism either.
Absolutely!
Quote - ...And lots of the folks out there do get mad, really mad, if thats the kind of feedback you give them, eventhough, they asked you for precisely that
Dude. I know just what you mean.
It's like ordering the shrimp/lobster combo and being angry because there's lobster on your plate. lmfao

Tried to edit the above but my time was up!
I found a thumb to the product that the ad belongs to on the M4 Just Natural page. It's Mercenary Styles & Morphs.

Chipp, this is amazing, and your generosity is very much appreciated!
Your use of color variation is brilliant.
Thread: Hair and magnets | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I may have stumbled on why the morphs don't work in Daz Studio... I'm not sure. I noticed that for the hair I converted that there is a pmd file as well as the hr2 and the png.
Do you mean that when you saved the scene, there was also a pmd file in the same folder as your saved scene? Or is there a pmd file elsewhere?
The reason I'm asking: the only times I ever ended up with pmd files was when I had the external binary morph targets checked in Poser's preferences. I unchecked that (and never used it since) after discovering terrible results when importing my poser scenes to Vue.
For now, see if you have external binary morphs enabled in Poser. If so, uncheck that option (in the Menu go to "Edit", "General Preferences", OR press "Ctrl' +the letter "K").
In the window that opens up, hit the "Misc." tab, and uncheck "Use external binary morph targets". Save your scene again (preferably with a new name, just to be safe).... and then see if you can use your morphs in DS.
Quote - I used the python script for creating the morph, so maybe that has something to do with why the pmd file is created.
I'm no expert, lol... BUT... as far as I know, the pmd file is ONLY created in poser if you have the option for external binary morph targets checked in the "Misc." tab of Poser's preferences. The python script made for creating a morph would not be creating the pmd files.
Quote - Is there a way to create the morph and just have it saved into the hr2 file?
I'm deficient in the area of saving the various poser file types...
But I'm 99.9% sure that the external morph targets preference (.pmd files) was responsible for your issue. Please try the above suggestion and let us know what happens! If I can't help you, somebody out there can. : )
Quote - Since there are 7 or 10 magnets, if you save the morphs manually, do you have to create a morph target for each magnet? Or will it make a single morph target out of all the magnets in the scene?
I am not well-versed in how DS handles Poser imports... I have created multiple magnets for single figures, props, etc., and they all saved with the magnet properties in tact. As for how DS handles magnets -- if I recall correctly, DS should be able to read all the Poser-created magnets in your file. The trick, as I remember, is saving it under the appropriate category (that is, if it's a "hair file", save it as a hair file, or if it's a "figure", save it as a figure), etc.
Please let us know how this goes for you. If no one in this forum provides the answer, I am absolutely positive that someone in the DS forum here (or at Daz's forum) will be able to help you. I have seen a plethora of DS users at Daz who not only use both DS & poser, but know what they're talking about! :P
Thread: Hair and magnets | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - ...I did try the magnets on the DAZ wedge hair because I could go from Mike 3 to Mike 4. It worked fine. Created a fit morph and looks good in poser, but when I go to Daz Studio, the hair loads as if it was never adjusted. Same pose and everything. The hair fit morph I created is there but it says it's an empty range in DS. Why would that be?
I must admit, the DS issue is far beyond my knowledge. The fact that you have successfully created working magnets for hair in Poser (that aren't working in DS) -- could be due to how you're saving the morphs, OR how DS reads them.
(Bear with me on my 'how you're saving' guess... Since I have frequently run into problems when saving one of my own created poses or magnets, I'm considering my own weaknesses in my conjecture).
I would consider creating a thread in the Daz Studio forum here. Somebody here who uses DS has to know why your working Poser morph isn't working in DS! ( 5 dollars says Richard Haseltine comes up with the solution!)
Thread: Polygon counts of Scenes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I can think of no better starting place for optimizing poser scenes for Vue than Linda's extremely helpful tips: http://www.cornucopia3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1541
These tips have been the BEST savers of my sanity (and my scenes) when importing Poser scenes to Vue. One thing I found particularly helpful was Linda's tip about ungrouping your Poser file and immediately regrouping it. This will most likely help you successfully save your scene as a VOB.
Also, the last post on this page -- http://www.cornucopia3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4125
gives tips about optimizing poser textures for Vue before importing the scene (smaller texture file sizes = less strain on Vue!) :P Poser has a built in python script that can export ALL the textures in a given scene; and many different graphic programs have a function that allows you to optimize them all at once. ;)
Please write back if you have any more difficulties. : )
P.S. Even with my "large" Poser scenes, I don't "Create separate Poser files for each figure", as is mentioned in the 1st link. But ungrouping & regrouping my figures & props has helped me immensely... ;)
Thread: Has anyone tried Lynda.com for Poser Software training? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Somebody call?
LOL, geep! Since you have been summoned, I hafta say: your site is amazing, and your freely shared knowledge is greatly appreciated.
Mrssocolov, to answer your question: I have only used tutorials from Lynda.com for applications other than Poser. They were chuck full of handy tips & info, and were extremely useful to me because I am a visual learner. (If I see it, I can do it)...
Based on what you've said about your learning style, I think $25 for a month is actually a good investment. One can spend half that (or more) on single pdf tutorials -- which do not show real-time techniques. : )

I don't know if this will help you, because I only used the translation & scaling dials to (sorta) fit the hair to V4.2 for quick testing.
AnyHOO, I got magnets to work with this hair; I selected billyhawk hair, created a magnet, and did a quick test. Moving the magnet made the hair definitely change...
My tests mostly involved moving the magnet in extreme ways, just to see if it would work.
I came up with a few funny atrocities -- here's one of 'em (excuse the lack of neck).

Sorry you're having problems getting your download, mdbruffy. : ( I feel bad since I pointed you to that product.
On Turbosquid's support page it says they have 24/7 support (via the "chat live with an agent" link and also a toll free number. If you're not in the U.S., the chat link is a better idea. Hope you get this soon!
Thread: Non native Vue content problems in Vue 6 Infinite | Forum: Vue
Quote - ...If I wait long enough (A few minutes to a few hours), the hang clears... But it will hang again so long as that item is selected... Old files in which I never had trouble are also doing the same thing.
I recently had a similar issue during some tests with Vue 6 Inf, (Windows XP). Vue would hang when loading certain objects that always worked fine before. Some wouldn't open at all.
Then I remembered... I had resaved them in Vue using the lastest update (Build 292711).
But when I reinstalled Vue, I didn't update it all the way to that final build. The problem was solved when I installed the latest update again.
I hope this helps. : ) If not, I'm wondering if there could be any differences in your settings now than when you didn't have problems with those files?
