Ok, yes this does work! The message was a little on the brief side, so here goes: 1. Use the walk designer to create the walk for your character normally. 2. Select the character's HIP 3. Open the graph editor 4. Select yTran from the drop down box 5. Scroll to the first key frame where the legs wobble 6. Drag the yTran up just a bit 7. Repeat 5 & 6 for the remaining key frames with leg wobble Thanks, Brian Wheatley

If you are running on a Windows PC, this probably means you need to increase the size of your swap file. When Windows runs out of physical memory (RAM) it swaps stuff out to a temporary file on the hard drive. If you have the maximum limit set too low then Windows will report that it's out of memory. How you change this setting depends upon which version of Windows you are running. Brian

The RuntimeGeometries contains files in the Wavefront OBJ file. These are the "mesh" files that make up the shapes of the figures that you use in poser. The RuntimeTextures folders contains the textures and bump maps that you apply to your Poser figures/props (or are applied for you by material poses, etc). The textures are just JPEG files. Bump maps are often shipped as JPEGs as well but Poser 4 w/o the Pro Pack will convert these to BUM files before using them. Surfaces in Poser are normally smooth unles you apply a bump map in addition to the texture. In addition to the textures and bump maps some objects also use transparency maps which are also typically saved in the texture folder (with "trans" in the name). These make parts of the object see-through. You will also find reflection maps that affect how the light reflects off of the object. These are typically in the RuntimeReflections folder. CR2 files are the "character" files which appear in the Figures tab in poser. These files reference the OBJ files, and optionally textures, bump maps, and/or reflection maps. PP2 files in the LibrariesProps folders are the Poser Ready props and rarely need a corresponding OBJ. PZ2's are poses, HD2's are hand poses, and FC2 are face poses. RSRs are the thumbnail icons that you see in the poser gallery. Pro Pack uses PNGs instead of RSRs, but it's the same idea. If there is no RSR/PNG for a character/prop/etc. then you see a little guy shrugging his shoulders. Finally, pz3 files are the Poser 3/4 scene files that you create. When you add a figure or prop to the scene, the corresponding CR2 or PP2 file is inserted into the PZ3 file (which is why they get very large!). Hope this helps! Brian

I submitted this question to Curious Labs' tech support department. I got a very quick response: "Hello there, yes I know this issue fairly well. First off, the assumption that the walk designer will work on every figure, without the need for tweaking, is the norm. Unfortunately it is not true. The walk designer does 90+% of the work but its obviously not perfect. A lot of the knee wobble is usually caused because the y-trans of the hip is too low. Raising the hip across all frames will stretch the legs out removing most of the wobbling. Using the graph editor, select all necessary frames of the hip y-trans, ctrl + click and drag up till the legs straighten out enough." I can't wait to give this a try :)

I tried doing that hoping that was the problem. It softened it but did not totally remove the problem. :( I also loaded the specific model into the walk designer and tried that. Could it possibly have something to do with the length of the walk path vs. the number of frames? Brian

Another thing to keep in mind is that Curious Labs has announced that they are helping to make Vue able to import animations from Poser 4. I believe that right now it only imports static scenes. Brian

I think this is a wonderful image, and I wouldn't have felt anything was missing if you hadn't said anything!! If there's any one thing that's missing, possibly a large tree trunk. Either standings or fallen over (possible directly behind the gorilla). Or a scattering of leaves on the ground. Somthing that suggest trees. Just my 2 cents... Brian
Thread: poser 4 upgrade, a couple of questions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you check the Curious Labs web store you can get Poser 4 Upgrade + Pro Pack combo for $259 for a "limited" time. It's a pretty good deal. I decided not to wait. Who knows when Poser 5 will be available! Brian

I have been looking for a good beard set for Michael. There are a few textures out there that include a beard, but most don't look very realistic.

I have Ray Dream 5, so upgrading to Carrara 2 would not be too difficult. I e-mailed them a question regarding an available SDK which I haven't received an answer yet. The funny thing about Carrara is that it doesn't mention Poser anywhere, though Ray Dream 5.5 did have that built in. I am still looking into it. :) Brian

Thanks everyone for the input!! I'm not familiar with Cinema 4D but it does sound interesting. I've also been looking at Vue and World Builder as well for the terrain (both import Poser scenes). Brian Wheatley
Thread: Missing downloads | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
I would just like to say that I was a little put off by the initial set up as well, but you have to consider that they're doing that for good reasons. It has to be done to protect credit card holders from credit fraud. If they didn't do that then they'd have to up the cost of their services and take other security measures. I have been very pleased with the store since then as my downloads are available immediately. Overall I think this is the best online store for purchasing Poser items. There is room for improvement in some areas, but that's true of anything! :) Brian
