Oh no I am thinking about a render QUALITY festival. As in rendering settings and some shaders and things like that. Even lighting set ups other than straight comercial ones - got plenty of those.

aha that might be the key I am missing, now is there any way to do it all at once, or do you have to change each skin mesh indivudually?

Oh nice render miden, love the full outdoor lighting you got there, can almost feel the heat coming off the rocks.

Oh yes I do use Vue 5's more advanced render engines too, and they are fantastic for the poser figures. At least I think so and I am glad to see that you agree. I wanted to sort of compare apples to apples in terms of standard light rendering. Now Poser 6 may provide some more comparable rendering capability but I will still love Vue.
Thread: Looking for Vue help - Which version to buy? | Forum: Vue
I feel Vue 5 has a very fast interface that really lets you do so much indoors outdoors underwater I mean the possibilities really are endless - so much easier than Bryce and the GI and GR and HDRI are fantastic on poser figures!!!

light in Vue is really key, I always either slide the light controls over to no abmiant or use GI or GR renders for indoors. Clear all the atmosphere settings like fog and haze and all that stuff then use either ibl like war2 said or carefully controlled spots and low power point lights. I think the indoor lighting is fantastic, I think good vue renders are some of the best I have ever seen so keep at it. Look at my gallery if you want some examples I havent used another program to render for 4 months now. Good luck.

I think that wether or not you go to a marketplace or the free stuff has a lot to do with the intended objects use. I am now rendering (as long this posting does not crash it) a low lit tavern scene in which a wonderfull downloaded free stuff model is absolutely perfect. I will probably never use it again. The study and gothicesque by DAZ sits in my Vue folder ready to load at all times since I use it so often that it's expense is worth the price several times over. So I know this does not inform on the original issue but I love the forums, I love the marketplace, I love the providers of all this wonderfull software and really - considering my life interests and pursuits, 3d graphics has been a bargain - you can spend a lot or a little and see your dreams materialize right in front of you on the screen. Amazing!!! Thanks everyone.
Thread: How do you set up lights so... | Forum: Vue
I love to make a bank of lights in a line and group them - you can change the power of the whole group at once and move it around your figures to fake a GI type set up. Then I primariy use distance of the light group to find the spot that best brings out the skin textures there is always a sweet spot. I use always quadratic lights to do this so it has minimal impact on the rest of the scene. ALl this with Vue 5 by the way.
Thread: Yet another question - concerning memory upgrades with P5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am finding that my render time is not much faster with 2Gb as opposed to 1Gb but the handeling of complex scenes while posing and setting up is vastly improved and more stable.
Thread: V3 base is Free at DAZ | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
It was occuring to me earlier today that there are many uses of the poser product other than expression and art. Many of the more technical applications do not require morphs or textures. Of course the idea of giving away the camera and selling you the film is as old as... well cameras and film. DAZ knows that providing Studio and V3 M3 for free they can cash in on the accessories etc. I love it, I enjoy the whole process. I like paying for good products and I like getting a good deal like now. Makes me feel like a happy functioning consumer. Love DAZ, Love Renderosity. If it were not for the immediate purchases, the free stuff, the community of on line people and the ability to share work and see the work of others and interact with them I would have given all this up a month after trying out poser. Thanks to everyone and to the folks who make all this possible.
Thread: Poser import problem | Forum: Vue
The Katie poser 5 texture is crazy in Bryce too. I have not tried to import the poser 4 texture but I will do so tonight.
Thread: Cant afford another monitor...&^%#%@ D#$ Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I know you said not to mention Daz Studio but it works wonders when going from poser to bryce not everything works but the things that get mangled you just do a poser to studio to byrce transfer but dont take it all the way into bryce, this makes one folder with all the jpeg maps you need in the folder where you are doing all the work. Then when you export from poser directly to an obj file and import into bryce you just point to one texture map which is in a folder for you and it finds the rest automatically since they are all in one folder - works great with dynamic cloth and complex conforming clothes - some work is still needed in byce with eyelashes but the rest usually comes through great. good luck
