Steve, it really was a hard time for you. I can't imagine being forced to lay off your wife and so many trusted friends. I can't say much more, except that each loss, including your own, means a loss of a vital part of Curious Labs and Poser. I can't help wonder if this is really "The Beginning of the End."
Thread: Correct Reference Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
OK, we have a confusing question an answer: "Will the Correct Reference program help me here, or does it have problems working in P5 (or in W2K)?" "correctreference doesn't work within p5." I don't know of any Poser-related utilities that actually are called or used directly from "within" Poser. All this moving of Runtime folders gets confusing. All my Poser 5 in a totally separate Runtime folder, outside of Poser 5 itself. I used CorrectReference on every single item installed in poser 4 & Poser 5. That worked the best for me.

CorrectReference absolutely DOES work with Poser 5 and Poser 4 and Windows XP. I use it extensively on a daily basis.

This looks like a great suit of armor. Unfortunately, I still don't find silver7.jpg in the download.

I didn't know there was an Evaluation Copy of Poser 5. I don't find it on the Curious Labs site.

I did some digging, and can't seem to locate CorrectReference either. It was at Ron Knights' free site, but that went down awhile ago. It was available at Netherworks, but I don't see it there.Thread: File installation | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's always best to unzip your Poser stuff to a Temporary Folder. Then read the "readme" file. The artists very often tell you where the files should go. The most crucial file location is the Geometry files, followed by the texture files. If your geometry files are not in the proper spot, your figure won't load. You can easily gain control of textures by getting CorrectReference (free).

1.) Before you use Vicky 3, run Poser, and load a prop. I use the ball. 2.) Go into Render, Materials, and Bump Maps. Find the bump map and load it. 3.) Say Yes when Poser asks if you want to convert the bump map. When Poser is done, select the next bump map to be converted, till you're done. 4.) When you're all done, click OK. Then get rid of the prop. 5.) You're ready now.

Gosh, 1.2 GB of hard drive space is next to nothing when it comes to rendering images. I'm guessing you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP. You need more hard drive space. Beyond that, the following actions are the best way to combat this problem: 1.) Put Poser on a different drive than your operating system. You need lots of hard drive space. 2.) Once Poser is on a new hard drive, you'll get this error message rarely. When you do, it's time to defrag your hard drive, and reboot.

Two things have helped me with this problem in the past: 1.) I moved Poser to a different hard drive than Windows. That helped the most. 2.) The problem still creeps up once and awhile. The solution then is to defrag the hard drive. I recommend frequent defragging.

Gee it's funny. Poser 5 has worked just fine for me from the beginning, as it has for so many others. DAZ's fortunes have relied totally on their support of Poser. Now are we supposed to put all our faith in DAZ to come out with a product to replace Poser? Will it be able to use all our Poser stuff? I won't believe in DAZ Studio until it's been around a few months.
