Oops..here is the link to the image I was questioning...Thread: shadow ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yea, I do have shadows checked in render settings and for each light as well. When I remove the cellar prop, the shadows of the figures are there, but once I put the cellar prop back in, no shadows. :(
Thread: how to import in to vue from posere | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I also use poser and vue 3. I learned how to export with textures, so maybe this will work for bumps as well. I have not tried yet. What I read in 3d artist magazine said this: Export each model in Wavefront OBJ format, seperatly. When exporting figures for use in Vue, use the default export settings in Poser. It MAY be neccassary at this point to process OBJ files through Steve Cox's freeware UVMapper utility as some third-party props and models haven't given special attention to Matrerial Groups. Once all figures are exported, save your work. Open a new poser scene and delete any figures that may be there. Import all your object files you have created. You must Deselected all the options on the import dialog box except "Make Polygons Normal and Consistent". Once all your figures are back in poser, you may export the scene using the default settings once again, to OBJ format. IMPORTING TO VUE: Before importing to Vue, make sure all your textures are in the same folder as the OBJ files you created. Once they are, just import them and you should be all set. Again, I am not sure about bump maps, but I figured that as this deals with textures, it should also work for bumps. If my memory serves me though, bumps in poser use a bum extension?? If so, they need to be changed to .jpg or .bmp for poser to read them. Sorry this was so long of an explination, I was typing it out of the magazine, as I only have a small amount of experience with it. On a side note, all the figures body parts will be named weird (symbols and stuff) but it is actually easy to see what is what. Hope this helps and if not, that it at least helped you waste a little time reading. :) Take care --Eryk

Deci6el, very good point. Hummmm..that may be a bit beyond my abilities at this point. I am very new to art work in general, let alone this 3d stuff. But..it sure can't hurt to try. Thanks very much.. ---Eryk

Thanks for the complement Tygercub, glad you like it. :) Canvus...ahhhh yes! Great idea, I can't believe that thought never even crossed my mind. But, with the 3 of you mentioning it, I will jump right not it. grumbles at self for not thinking of that one Engelken, thanks for the image, that really helps me to visualize how it should look. I actually have paint shop pro (5, I think), so I can try those effects. Ghostofmacbeth (cool name, BTW), my room mate suggested that same thing, perhaps I should give that a whirl after all. Thanks for all your help everyone. I'll try this stuff out and be back begging for help if it doesn't look right...although I bet it will. Take care all, Eryk
Thread: Ack! Newbie stuck with exporting issues | Forum: Vue
Very cool Fox, thanks. I will have to do that. When I do, I'll post it so you can check it out and give me some pointers, if you don't mind. LW- I got lightwave 6.X during the sale as well. It was a lot of money, but like you say, it is used by the pros ( and a friend of mine as well, who is able to help me along.) :) --Eryk

They make, besides lightwave: Videotoaster Aura ( A great program I am currently waiting for delievery on). Vidget Inspire 3D Calibar WWW.Newtek.com I am not familiar with most of the products, so I can't say for sure what they all do. Aura is a very advanced paint program, for lack of a better explination. But it does way way more then paint. It works with Illusion ( not sure if you have heard of it). But with Illusion and aura, you can make some killer special effects for animations and still images.

Mike, That land export you demonstrated above is killer. This will save me loads of time and headaches. :) Thanks once again! Fox-- I have heard of skydoming before, but figured that was a bit advanced for me. But, they way you talk about it, it does not sound hard at all. ( Is this where you take a bowl shaped poly and add the map of your sky to it? ) A friend suggested Terragen to me, maybe I will pick it up after all. Until I learn to use Lightwave, I need to use every other option I can. :) Mike, Newtek is having a sale currently, where if you own one of their other items, you can get lightwave for less then $1,000 ( I want to say aroun $700 but I can't recall. I was told about the sale from an co-worker, so he could be way off.) Hope you all are having a productive saturday. :) --Eryk

Fox, Thanks for the compliment! :) So by what you are saying, I should have little issue with using my apps together for scene creation? The fact that older LW formats will work is great. I have not got to a point where I had to import one yet, so I was not sure. Have a great weekend everyone, Eryk

Mike, Thanks a ton for all the help and for testing that for me. I'm glad you liked the image too. :) That information is what I needed, now I won't be banging my head on my desk tonight. :) I also have Poser 4 and am hoping to be able to create some real killer scenes and animations, using a combination of poser, lightwave and vue. ( But I am new to 3d art, so it will be a while.) Again Mike, I thank you for your help. Take care, Eryk PS: I took you advice and did not work too hard today.
