The lack of genitalia is bizarre. If this is how millennium women are really built, don't hold your breath for an appearance of one at the next millennium. ;-) That 'Victoria' is a 'family' figure even extends to the 'photorealistic' texture map - there is no pubic hair! I think the mesh itself is extremely high quality, and extremely good value for money. I wouldn't have been seeking my money back on this, even without tomorrow's free morphs. I'm very pleased with it, even if having to do so much work on it just to make it 'normal' is tedious. However, the texture map is NOT photorealistic, and it doesn't even fit properly!!! As it stands, it is unfit for the purpose for which it is advertised. Unless the update for the texture map addresses these problems, I will definitely be seeking a refund on this. I can't understand why Zygote chose to make a rod for their own back by making what should have been a sort of new standard 'utility' figure into a specific character, or why that character is so at odds with what the majority of the Poser using community is doing. They have blundered, and if it were not for the high quality of the mesh enabling high levels of adaptablity, an exciting new range of possibilities would have been squandered.

LOL, 'ideal' is a tricky one, since there are probably about six billion opinions on what constitutes the ideal appearance of a woman. The term 'I wouldn't climb over her to get to you' may be a little clumsy, but it does point to the fact that I find my version of the figure a little more fanciable than Victoria upon her debut. I wouldn't necessarily say that Victoria standard is 'abnormal', just that she's very specifically modelled to appear as someone at one of the 'outer edges' of normality. I'm a normal bloke, but I sure as hell would not put myself forward as a model for being any kind of 'millennium man'. People may personally choose to make a male figure that looks like me as a tribute to the spirit of human individuality (or do I mean frailty?), but they mustn't be lumbered with the task of tweaking a flabby git of a figure into something more like an idealised adonis.

Puts down copy of 'Sports Illustrated - World Famous Swimsuit Issue' for a moment... Thanks for posting those pics, rtamesis. It's nice that someone is looking at these figures with an eye for accuracy. Thanks for all your morphs too, they're great. :) Looking at the healthy models in that Sports Illustrated magazine, the average shoulder width (and shape) appears to be about half way between Vic's and Posettes. Victoria is a fairly beefy woman, and not especially trim either. Melanie, I appreciate what you're saying, but I think you're taking it off on a bit of a tangent. This isn't really a case of tolerance and acceptance of individuality, it's a case of 'what the Poser community wanted, needed, and were expecting'. For myself, when I heard Zygote were making a 'Millennium Woman' that would enhance Poser realism significantly, I felt they would essentially be making a new standard, default figure. I was very much looking forward to this, since I felt the regular female figure had probably been developed to near its maximum. What Zygote released was an individual character, a 'person' if you will. It is here that I think they made a major marketing blunder, especially when combined with giving the model an appearance that wasn't going to appeal to the majority of prospective customers (note that nearly all the morphs released so far have been to turn 'Victoria' into a more 'idealised' shape). The market for a hi-res, highly adaptable, idealised standard figure was substantial, whereas the market for a specific character is much more restricted. I'm still mystified as to why Zygote chose this route. Perhaps they felt that they could release lots of characters based on this mesh, in much the same way as users have released lots of characters based on Posette. If so, I think they have seriously misread the market. IMO, Zygote should concentrate on supplying fundamental basic figures so good that we can't do without them, and let the users turn those figures into individual characters. It makes sense that the basic figures should fit in with most people's definition of accuracy and attractiveness, so long as they are adaptable enough to be made into a wide range of individuals. That was the philosophy behind the new figures for Poser3 and 4. It made sense then, and it makes sense now. As things stand, I think Zygote should be very grateful to users like rtamesis for showing prospective purchasers that the Victoria character is capable of being made into the kind of figure they most likely wanted in the first place. I certainly wouldn't have bought the model if I hadn't been shown what was possible. I reckon that if Zygote had made the figure more generalised and standardised in the first place, they would have sold more of them straight away, and all the genius users would have been making individualising morphs instead of generalising morphs!!! Ironically, this would have resulted in more virtual individuals, not less, and your admirable desire to see more diversity would have been fulfilled quicker. :)

WOW, that is so good!!! You are very generous to share your brilliant work with us all. Thankyou very much. By the way, the character work on the girl in your pics above is excellent. Very subtle and realistic.
Thread: hey guys! read MC's new press release carefully. maybe goodnews coming soon | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the heads up on that, Ghost. Let's hope there is a good future for Poser out there. Ede, you might want to look at Hash Animation Master if you want those advanced features on the cheap. There is an incredible number of features crammed into that program for the money, though I suspect that it's not as easy to use as Poser.

Thread: Eyebrows need plucking. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The Millennium woman figure has two methods for eyebrows. The parts of the head mesh that are assigned as eyebrow materials (the method used with Posette) are already completely smooth on the forehead. These brows are already in the correct place on the main head texture map. So there is no need for a 'smooth eyebrows' morph, or a remapped head. Pretty handy. The second method uses a detached little mesh that can be hidden inside the head, or moved out in front. This is the one you need to apply the transparency map to. I suppose the chief benefit with this method is that it's very easy to change the eyebrows without altering the whole head map. Since there is a complete lack of any pubic detail on the mesh or on the texture map for Millie, maybe it was originally the intention to have a seperate little mesh for that area too... :-)
Thread: Thanks Chris, here is question for you and everybody on lashes. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Can't figure out what you're up to with 'dual transparency' trick. You can set the lashes to be any colour you like using the normal transparency settings you might use for transmapped hair. Either set the diffuse channel in basic colour mode, or paint the part of the head texture map that the eyelash trans map points to, the colour you want. I can't believe I paid 25 dollars for this 'photorealistic' texture map. Not only is there nothing but white on the map for the eyelash trans map to point at, the bloody thing doesn't even fir properly (check down the insides of the legs). Photorealistic for an adult woman means pubic hair. If this is a 'family' figure, Zygote should have said. I think the figure is very good, and excellent value for money. But the texture map is incomplete, and annoys the hell out of me everytime I see it. And I can't even use the bump maps in Bryce 'cos they're in 'bum' format instead of being a regular bitmap. I hope the update for the texture map addresses these points.

I'm afraid if you want texture maps on your Poser figures in Bryce, upgrading is the only answer. DXF does not support texture coordinates (as far as Bryce is concerned), so that's all she wrote. Bryce3D will do the job you need, and has been given away free on magazine CDs here in the UK. You should be able to find this package free or very cheap somewhere (don't ask me please, I haven't got one). Make sure you patch it to 3.1.

Thread: OK a comparison render. Victoria vs P4NF (flames welcome) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The most likely reason the lighting changed when you changed the view is that you have 'link sun to view' enabled. Disable this (skylab), and you can move the view all over the place and the lighting will remain the same. Thanks for posting the comparison. :-)
