I really like those textures? My favourite is the one in the center : it looks more natural. I'm not too positive about it, but I don't think that impressions (or whatever drawings on fabric are called in english) were available, even for noble ladies, in the middle-ages. They could have perls sewn, gold threads inbedded in the fabric, but I think impressions were invented later. Anyway, thanks for your great work. Compiler (feeling nit picking tonight)

Happened to me also. After a reboot, it went all right. I figure the reboot cleaned up my computer's memory... Which OS are you working with ?
Thread: Thinking about getting Poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The only issue is : for those of us who don't have a rich Santa Claus on hand, P4 rendering of a 800X600 scene is 5 minutes at worst, while firefly render takes between 1 hour to a full night (at least for the pics I do, which usually involve 2 to 5 characters, their clothes, the background and a bucket of props). I have seen portraits made with Firefly which are absolutely great (a good example above), but I'm just a hobbyist and I don't have a couple of days to spare to work on an image. For the kind of pictures I do, P4 rendering and half an hour of post-prod are enough. On the other hand, I very seldom post anything here because I feel exposing my poor work would be insulting to those great pics. I'd just advise to keep P4 renders for "quick and dirty" works, but firmly commit yourself to Firefly if you have enough time. The rare times I have done really paid off. Plus it would be a shame not to use your brand new computer to the fullest, wouldn't it ? :-) Compiler

I always have 3 versions of my base characters "posette, vickie, eve, etc...). One is loaded with head morphs, one with body morphs, one with "expression" morphs (smile, wince, chest movements, etc). I build the morphs for my specific character in the first two, export them, and install them in the third. But I don't have Vicky 3 yet... Compiler

Genny, you are great : your updated Village Mice are perfect. Looks that a series is starting. Anyone for ZZ Top ? Compiler PS : To Bikermouse : the song you are refering to is part of the original soundtrack of the movie "Grease", with John Revolting and Olivia Neutron Bomb (or something near). ;-)

Oh my !! Genny, you did a splendid work. I was away for a couple of days and saw your pic when coming home : it's Christmas a second time ! Great pic and true to the spirit of Rock and Mouse ! Thanks for making our lives a little more liveable. :-) Compiler PS : TJ : I think that the first to sing "rock'n roll is here to stay were "Dany and the Juniors", but I'm not totally positive, there.
Thread: Tired Of CL's Bullsh*t! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser 5 works fine enough with me, but that may be because I don't ask it to do much more than what poser 4 did. Like Queri, I have forgotten about using the cloth room, the animation room, the face room (wich works no better than Vickie 2 morphs if you know them well). I also stopped trying using advanced options in renderings : atmosphere nodes, gel lights, procedural textures, all this froze my computer. It only works when I'm using a single character with hardly a prop or dress (good excuse for undressing Vickie). IMHO, Curious labs should have concentrated on improving one or 2 fetures of Poser 4 (for instance library management and material room) and forget about the other ideas. The net result is that everything is half done. I feel like this is a sort of grand ecart. Poser 4 was a good application, affordable by amateurs but usable by pros. These 2 populations seem to have different wishes about the future of Poser and what he can do. Some wish it to stay low cost, fast, fun and with tons of free items, others wish it to become a pro tool capable of the best renderings, even if this means being more expensive and requiring exponential ressources. I feel like CL has not made the choices between the 2 and has taken the risk of disapointing both.

http://www.joanjett.com/ Joan Jett and The Black Hearts. In those days they were singing (shouting ?) : "I love rock n' roll So put another dime in the jukebox, baby I love rock n' roll So come an' take your time an' dance with me " I did not understand anything beyond the first line, since English is not my native language, but this was all we needed to shout at the parties we attended in the early 80's. Does that ring a bell ? (or may be you were just teasing me about my poor spelling of Blachearts instead of Black hearts. Sorry about the typo). Happy Eeeeekkk to you for 2003. Compiler (PS, and speaking of famous groups, an AC/DC mouse revival or a ZZ top mouse car would be great. Or, more ancient, a remix of "the mouse of the rising sun". LOL)
Thread: FBM????is there an easy way for this??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As far as I know, there's no easy way out of this one. You have to create a morph for each part that's affected by your morph. You MUST keep the same name for these morphs in each part (ex : "muscular"). Set all these morphs to 1. Delete the other morphs of each part, or set them to 0, as you wish. Create a full body morph by using the figure menu (don't forget to give it the SAME name that you used on the various parts, eg :"muscular") Go back to each part, set all your "muscular" (or whatever morph you created) to 0 Select "body" and set your body morph to 1. Et voila. I never was able to find a quicker way, but I'm not the best technician here, by far. Let me know if someone does it better than I do...
Thread: Testing P5 and Sr2.1. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I agree with most of the comments above. I especially was upset by the setup room behavior when autogrouping. I tried to adapt Posette clothes to Vickie, but this failed because the autogroup worked for Judy, not for Vickie. As for your dial problem in the material room, I had the same problems and found out a way around. I supposed the problem occured because I'm French and here is why : french measures separate integers and decimals by a "," (as in 3,16 for instance) and english by a "." ( 3.16 ) I must use the "," to separate the decimals for every other dial in Poser, but if use them in the material room, I get the problem you mention. So, in the material room, I use the english notation and everything runs OK. Hopes this helps.

Excellent image and very mice idea (pun intended). If you allow myself a bit of nit-picking, I just happen to have the YMCA video-clip on a VHS next to me (believe it or not) : so, it's true that the policeman (which was a motorcycle rider in the clip) had dark skin. But there were 6 village people, not 5 ! You forgot the soldier (GI apparently, with a military cap) ! He also had dark skin. And the leather clad guy had the most formidable pair of moustaches ever ! Anyway, your image is fantastic and I like it a lot. As I write this, my VHS plays another videoclip, which gives me an idea for suggesting a new pic : how about a Joan Jett and the Blachearts revival ? Thanks again for sharing this piece of humour with us. Compiler

Oooops... Sorry for non french speakers, I was just telling Marco how much I liked his idea.

I am surely interested in beta testing your manikin, LordNakagawa. Since I own the Tailor 1.1 too, I should be able to work on the same lines as what you did for V2 to V3. The only missing part would be the JPS pose, but may be this can be overcome in the set up room ? Thanks for your offer, can't wait to test it. :-)
Thread: My render of Victoria....she is something... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Great Character very natural and cute. She could be real. Just a suggestion : for your face rendering, you could use a larger lens focal to avoid distortions. Attached link to the excellent tutorial on this topic in DAZ arcana : http://arcana.daz3d.com/tutorials/jv/jv01/index.html Anyway, I agree: she is something... Compiler
