Thread: Creating clothing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I thought the MD owners were going to relax a bit on their license restriction, it sounds like they haven't?
They have. You can give away freebies with their less expensive license, although you need the pro to sell. I think he meant that the demo is export-disabled.
Â
ETA: Here are the license terms for the personal license now:
"- 3D Data Sales: Licensee may distribute his/her own 3D works created in Software and their 3D derivatives for non-commercial purpose. Licensee may sell his/her own 3D works and their 3D derivatives solely in www.MarvelousDesigner.com.

Quote - nerd3D at RDNA has worked out the particulars but has not shared it publicly yet.
Nerd posted a tutorial of it on his website a couple of weeks ago.
Thread: Marvellous Design (software) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The personal license does allow you to distribute freebies:
"Allows only for non-commercial purpose. You may distribute your works in any file formats only for non-commercial purpose."
Or direct from the license: "Licensee may sell or distribute their works in any file formats only for non-commercial purpose."
(I'm not sure how you sell something non-commercially. ^_~)
If no one has yet, I was planning to ask on their forum for clarification on renders, whether freebies made with the Personal license have to restrict images made with them to non-commercial or not.
Thread: Marvellous Design (software) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No, they just went gold overnight. They have plans for more features, but my experience is that the software is pretty stable and works well as is. (The Waloli dresses in my freestuff were a learning project with Marvelous Designer.)
A Personal non-commercial license is $99, at least until February.
You do NOT have to be connected to the internet every time you use it. You do have to be connected the first time you fire up, and to switch computers you have to purposely move the license.
I'm pretty sure it is not the same company as the previous Virtual Fashion Pro software. Google-fu says VF was made by Reyes Infogrfica in Madrid; Marvelous Designer is by CLO Virtual Fashion in Korea.
I really love the program, myself. It has me really excited.
Quote - Would your creations out of this be easily converted into conforming clothing using PhilC's obj2cr2?
Yup, sure is:
That's my latest project using MD, a hybrid dress. I've clothified the skirt after using PhilC's OBJ2CR2 to make the whole thing conforming. (That's an awesome utility BTW, Phil.) (Please ignore the little pokethrough at the waistband; that's my fault. Was still working on materials went I took this screen cap, too, so the colors are just to show some of the material zones I've put in.)Â
One caveat there is that MD's meshes are currently put out as Delaunay triangle mesh, which are beautiful for dynamic but not as good as quads for conforming. I find the results acceptable for my own uses, but some people really hate that.
Thread: PoserPro2010 vs Poser 6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Other than "Pro" on it, what is the difference? Features? Nodes? Libraries? Render speed? Lighting?
Â
Yes to almost all. Gamma correction, physically correct light fall-off model, indirect lighting, HDRI on IBL lights, much faster render speed with better utilization of multiple cores, AO on lights actually works (if you're not using IDL), library is more flexible, Python allows more sophisticated scripts, and those are just off the top of my head. A $100 upgrade from Poser 6 to Poser Pro 2010 will give you HUGE bang for your buck. I heartily recommend it.
Thread: Question for Poser Oldtimers - M2 and Pro Pak | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ah, sounds like a good old corrupted RSR file, if I remember P4 and PP correctly. Go into your geometries folder, find M2's .rsr file. (I don't remember the file name, but it's the same as his obj, just with a .rsr extension) and delete it. Poser will regenerate it next time you load him, and if I'm right about your problem, that should fix it.

Thread: Building VSS rules in Matmatic? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Great! As you no doubt guessed, I didn't realize that was in there. That'll work spiffy. I'll see what I can set up for the Apply Rules, but even if I can't get it, that's not nearly as many as the shader rules.
Thanks!
Thread: What's the best Galadriel dress? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Are you looking for the dress you posted?  Runtime DNA still sells it. Morphing Fantasy Gown for Victoria 3. Even get the Deep Freeze price.
Oops, sorry. Â Crossposted.
Thread: Matmatic error this time | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Um... Never mind. I found it.  I did something stupid.  I'd connected my script button to compiler.pyc instead of compile.py.  It works a lot better when it's trying to run the correct thing. :P (As I feared, user error.)
Works spiffy now! Can't wait to play with this new toy.

I noticed BagginsBill is back, so I thought I'd bump this where he can see it. (Nothing like getting whomped right after vacation, huh?)
The script does work on my (Vista 32) laptop, I've found. Â So even if I can't get it working on my desktop, IÂ have options.
Thread: VSS Errors, please help | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
nruddock, that fixed it. Â Thank you so much!
IsaoShi, thanks for letting me know I don't need to worry about that message. I wouldn't have if it were the only thing, but I wasn't sure if it was part of the real problem or not.
Thanks, everyone!**

Thread: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Am I on top yet?) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
There are a few things that WILL prevent me from buying products due to the trouble when installing: 1) Excessive amounts of !!!! at the beginning. 2) Non-unique texture names. I tend to mass-install stuff, and I have too much to fix everything. So I do check the readmes before buying when possible, and I don't buy products with one of these two flaws unless it is truly excellent - and most items I would have bought otherwise don't make that bar. So I will say that these practices literally do lose sales.
Thread: Cross Talk P6 SR1 ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I would hope if they intentionally brought it back, they'd make it controllable. We want ERC (in clothes and the like), but not indiscriminate crosstalk. It doesn't seem like it should be that difficult to make ERC work without reintroducing cross-talk. Maybe add something to the "conform to" command that rewrites all the numbers that make it happen. Similar to the code that rewrites all of them to prevent it.
