Free, my favourite four letter word ;). Only 2 Meg too! How do people do that! Now another learning experience... Looks like the sort of thing I can use with the UV mapping functions and all too.

Just to let you know folks that it's in the post (thanks for the tip Jovial) and only $227 USD (126 UKP)and that includes $30 USD shipping! Gosh, I won't lose any sleep over not paying Amazon an extra $397 USD (224 UKP)for an identical product. Once again I would like to thank you all for your advice and experience. This is what the internet should be about. After all I only want to pay a fair price for a fair product.

Guess what folks..no dice with renderosity. They've just turned me down. Can only ship to Canada or US. Would have been a nice tip to give me this info BEFORE they took my money!

Can I humbly suggest that if you were to use reflected daylight of the glass in the open window that could back light the sill area and dragon without 'washing it out' by just lightening the area evenly. Maybe it would help pick out the form of the dragons belly etc by side lighting it.
Also, I'm no expert beleive me, but the scene lacks a focus, I think the term is depth of field, which effects how you can see a lot of detail close up and far away at the same time or not.
Hope this helps.
BTW love the subject, some sort of magicians school?

Thread: Is there a Freestuff Upload FAQ/tutorial/template available? | Forum: Community Center
Thanks AgentSmith,
I've already thought of one slight tweak to the 'included file' labels/descriptions. If, as I propose to add to readme.text template v1.1, the modeller includes the thumbnail image in the files, add the maximum file size, types and dimensions to the template description as a gentle reminder of what is accepted.
Depending on my progress, now that I've uploaded a few pics and models, I will try to write a printer friendly and colourful tutorial on the basics of uploading by the weekend. I assume it would be acceptable to Renderosity and common sense to point them at your TOS page first?

Maybe I'm missing the point, in which case I will go away quietly and mutter to myself in a corner, but is it F-I-L-K music? Not F-O-L-K music. If so, would you care to describe Filk music to me? Any examples? Tangerine dream or Enya..(showing my age..) Regards Bilbo
Thread: 3ds and maintaining difference between materials in a Boolean union | Forum: 3D Modeling
Thanks nomuse. I'm using 3ds max and planned to remove the 'hidden' facets from the the mesh manually. I then wanted to apply the correct materials to the faces that had been assigned the wrong materials. I dislike grouped objects as they go 'funny' in some of my renders. However, I'm now looking at a slight variation on my model. What I wanted to acheive was a single model that can be used to create a large and varied range of walls.

That sounds like a worthwhile exercise for me to try. Maybe I'll trawl through some of the free downloads (especially the more prolific/popular ones) to see if their readme's have anything in common.
Maybe I can write a tutorial for newbie posters. I have seen a tutorial on writing tutorials so I'll start there.
I assume this would be a good place to post the (or rather post the link to the)first draft of any tutorial/FAQ/template in for comment/guidance. If there is some forum more appropriate please let me know. I'll keep an eye on this thread.
Thank you.
