You should definitely click yes when asked to copy zones. It works very well. The other obvious work-saving trick is to group your mesh with all the bone groups named similarly to a figure you alreayd have, that way you can just click on the figure to get the setup you want.

There is a superhero suit floating around out there and it's a freebie if I recall correctly.

@bantha-
SH3D doesn't UV map either, but as a sort of first draft, you can get what you want laid out very quickly and easily and it comes with a nice selection of things like doors and windows that can pop right in and the app makes the cuts in the wall mesh for you, which is convenient.

Use a pre-made rig from your character library and apply it in the setup room. Piece of cake. The tough part is cutting the figure into groups in your modeling app. Tedious, but not difficult at all for a good modeler.
Your giraffe, for example, any four legged critter in the library would get the job done.

I'm sorry for your loss. I certainly know the feeling. Bounce back quickly, that's what I'm sure he would want for you.

Make your own. Should be easy as hell and you'll probably do a better job that anything you might have to buy.

Oh god, not me. Even though I liked it, Beowulf looked less real than Avatar IMO
I thought the fully CGI scenes worked very well with the 3D, but the scenes with the live actors looked distorted. I thought Beowulf, being all CGI, was more consistent. I don't think Beowulf went for a full realism effect either. Kinda 80% real, 20% Shrek like look.

The default pose is great for draping clothes. Arms down, thumbs up. Very natural. The palms down T pose is not a good choice at all and every other Poser fig I've seen uses it. Arms up/thumbs up would be best I think.
The head is a bit brutish which can be great. He's not rez-heavy, very efficient topology. Great character, I'll never stop using him.

Quote - > Quote - Poser is a great app for what it does, but it doesn't do everything great. It never has and even if it ever does, it will just chew up too much in resources. For character creation and scene setup, there's nothing better . . . .
I'll never turn away from Poser . . . . 6!
And nor will This old Geezer... Sometimes I just like to bitch.... Getting older, but not too much wiser..!
If you're just getting into Poser, no reason not to start with the latest version, but the upgrades only seem to upgrade things I don't use Poser for, mainly rendering. I really can't think of anything I'd want Poser to do that P6 doesn't do and doubt I'd render in it if it were as stable as the apps I do use because I can continue to work in Poser while I'm rendering elsewhere.
