Phew glad someone else backed me up as a Design Engineer would have been kinda embarassing if i was wrong lol. Here is some tech sketches i dug up to show real iris setup. They usually use either of these two shapes of leaves though others less common shapes have been used.

Im not sure it can be done with no gaps,real iris shutters on cameras all overlap,in my opinion it cant be done without using overlaps though would love to see someone prove otherwise:)

dont underestimate what can be modelled with bryce Terra :) you would be amazed at what can be achieved with primative shapes ,boleans and terrain maps (using clipping tool), they are a powerful combination.The picture object is often very under used by Bryce users (the broach on the knights shoulder is one)and if used cleverly can create great details at virtually no render cost. Here is a General Electrics MiniGun I modeled entirely in Bryce too ,couldnt afford the $120,000 for a real one :) p.s Hoovie there are no lattices in the model sorry lol, couple of terrain maps though an a ton of booleans

Love the Elven warrior beautiful job,I like the composition too,she's striking a nice natural pose,well done so far:) As for suggestions you might want to add a metal texture to the axe head and maybe a nice shield leaning against it? as for the trees you could take a look at www.3dplants.com for some great background foliage,trees etc,the scale seems a bit off on the trees to me,the front one could be larger and the background ones smaller to fit in with the mountains better,anyways just my two cents worth:)

yep Deathbringer your right about that reflection from the picture frame,its kind of distracting when your looking at the watch ill turn the reflection down on the table,don't know what you mean about the glasses shadow being wierd though, can you explain how it seems wrong to you? Tempest the glasses are in scale to the rest of the objects its just I had to reduce the size of the lamp to fit the top of it in picture and I think its making the glasses seem too large, hmm,have to work on that a bit more too. thanx for all your suggestions so far, i'm gettin there :)
