very nice modeling job slinger.
to be honest i personally wouldn't use it at all (retired pro musician). but i did want to comment on your modeling talents. if i did have any interest for a pedal it would probably be one of jimi's old fuzz faces.
a couple of scratches would be good. mine looks like it was drug behind a horse for a day or two. ;P

My wah resides on my Line 6 FlexTone XL III longboard - I have owned a Crybaby or two in the past as well. Only use it for Cream, Jimmy, and Jimi on occasion.
Nice work, slinger! :)

This one is very nice since it has the Celestions. :)
The one thing that I really like about it, for my style, is that it can do crispy-clean distortion (old Kirk Hammett for instance) or sub-woofer thumping distortion (Pantera or old James Hetfield). It has perfect Satriani and VH tones as well as some nice clean tones. Yngwie is tough to match going from an Ibanez/Line 6 trying to imitate a Strat/Marshall stack. :) But I can usually get Jimi going with the neck pickup and some twiddling. Also, there is an application where you can upload/download tones to the amp bank channels.
The downside is that to use the Longboard effectively, you really need to have the app to organize the tones for quick switching. I've definitely not mastered that yet. The amp sim selection and tonal/effect choices aren't bad - but a bit limited. Every once in a while it is tough to match the settings for the song you are playing/learning.
I added a cheap Digitech RP200 to get some more effects and tonal ranges - this might be upgraded to something better soon. Any pointers (been a while)? I usually go for the Roland stuff (I loved the GR-33 guitar MIDI synth - yum).

You folks with the dirty pots in your pedals should go to Radio Shack and get some tuner cleaner also generically called pot cleaner or contact cleaner. Spray it into your potentiometers while working them around. This will clean the contacts and restore static free operation. Also make sure the mounting nuts are tightened properly as the gound must be snug to complete the circuit. The same holds true for your guitar volume and tone controls.

Yep. Potentiometers are "potential" problems. Always get this with the guitar knobs at some point (crackling - or worse, bad contacts on the blades causing cutout). Not afraid to mess with the electronics - I've replaced pickups, installed active circuitry, did a shielding overhaul for my Yngwie Strat when I owned it- nice picking up truckers on that thing. ;)

kuro,
well effect pedals have come a long ways, i always go to the namm shows and play with the latest and greatest. digitech has a series out where you can morph the cabinets, speakers, etc and create your own monster...can't remember the name though.
the problem (still!) with effects units is that they suck the tone right out of whatever you have plugged in. doesn't matter if the unit is in-line or through the effects channel...they still suck the life right out of whatever you have.
pedals can somewhat eliminate this, but it still exists's to some degree. really the only way around this is with true bypassing. just saw a new gizmo in guitar player that is a true bypass board where you plug your crap into.
but bear in mind all of this goobly-gook i'm talking about is if your playing out. if you are just a hobbyist (and it sounds like you might be more than that) then digitech's will take you a long ways. do you have soungs recorded?

Of course I clean my pots! The problem is with as much distortion as I use, EVERYTHING is picked up.
Hell, I don't even use an amp anymore. I have a sweet Fender Twin that's been sitting in my basement for years. From the guitar to the Digitech rack to the PA system-that's it. It's so nice not having to carry anything!
mrpeabody,
I usually pick up the Guitar Review Guide (just did aamof) and trot over to the stores to see and test the equipment. That means either the short hop to the limited local shop (it's a local shop for local people). ;) Or over to Guitar Center where it's hard to hear the equipment over the wannabees - they really need to consider private sound-proofed booths for sound tests. The have this for the acoustics, but not the electrics.
I totally agree about the effects units sucking tone - the RP200 does a wonderful job of that. ;D
Not playing out any longer. Used to when I lived back in Philly - and had all of my music connections. Since moving to middle-of-nowhere Colorado, not much 'scene' going on here. I'd have to take up 'Country Music' (bleck!). I'd also like to get another electro-acoustic classical guitar and start playing again - been some time, but I can still do Bourree from memory (Recuerdos, need more practice). The problem here is that my practice time has become limited by development.
The only stuff that I have recorded (any more) is my classical work. Mainly used that to critique my playing.

Right now I have a Harmony tube amp from 1967 that is in need of a complete rebuild, but the best rock and roll amp I ever had was a 1962 Blonde Fender Bassman head. It was rated at fifty watts and you had to turn it up all the way to get the grit, but sounded like the voice of God himself. Got me evicted from two apartments in Colorado Springs. Man I really loved that amp, but I lost my job at the Craftsman tool factory and had to let it go to the pawn shop. Colorado Springs was a great town to find vintage amps in for some reason.

ahhh, the fender bassman's. killer amps.
i'm with you kuro on the country twang, though i do have a soft spot for mr. cash and willie. also, brad paisley can really play, a lot more to him than just country me thinks.
i'll stick with my marshall half-stack and ts9. clean tones from heaven and balls from hell.
well, this was fun. now we all know a little more about each other.

Markus_2000 suggested an Ibanez Tube Screamer.
Hmm...that's do-able.
In the meantine, and not wishing to infringe copyright and stuff...

I had a Bassman 50 (still have the cabinet), supposedly had JBL's in it, but I couldn't get anything like a real volume out of it..;) My budget went more towards Peavey's..;)
Yeah, the idea of some stomp boxes would be a good idea. Maybe people would show more Poser feet..;) (unless they hide 'em like me to avoid non-existent shadows..;)
Of course, now you're looking at cords (1/4th"), so those would be a little harder to do (though I've seen some little 'widgets' that connect one to the other, without any cords. Might be worth looking into..
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Actually.... I'm within a week of bringing out a set of detailed mics and stands, and as part of the project I did up a weird pedal of my own (with exposed 12AX7 !) and quarter-inch cable. Still working on the latter but I've found a way of combining easy-pose pre-pose and dynamic cloth draping to get a very realistic look in the cables. My XLR seems to be working quite well. I'm probably omitting the pedal from my first set (as well as the el cheapo garage band drum kit I've been working on), but if I do get around to making an expansion with guitar stands et al, might I contact you guys re those lovely stomp boxes?
And the Ibanez Tube Screamer...err...I mean the Ibanex Tube Screecher ;¬)
None of these are the "finished item" yet but I do hope to have a selection of pedals ready to give to the community (that sounds SO pretentious ) as Christmas presents.

Thanks Markus_2000.
Here's the "story so far" and I'd stress that all of these are still works in progress.

**My Epiphone Les Paul copy also gathers much dust. I have been putting off rewiring it and putting in a beefier humbucker in the bridge position and shielding it from RF. It is amazing how much hum you can get out of a humbucker. Especially around computers.
Slinger is that the version with Germanium transistors? It looks fantastic.**

Yes - hum is caused by pickups picking up (hmmm) ambient electromagnetic signals from nearby equipment. Feedback is a form of hum that 'feeds back' between the pickup and the amp (usually) - and causes that squeal used to effect by Hendrix. Humbuckers are pickups that are reverse-wired (in series) on basically two pickups that act as self-canceling fields to remove (or significantly reduce) hum.
I used to own a Les Paul. Excellent tone, but it doesn't fit with all of my styles (mainly neo-classical/metal w/trem work) and very expensive equipment (cost more than my Steve Vai Jem). Great for Jimmy, Slash, and AC-DC, but sucky for Satriani, Hammet, Yngwie, Hendrix et al (Ibanez/Fender guys).
No dust - as much as putting the guitar in the case puts it out of mind (as it were), I'd rather keep the dust collection to the vacuum, thank ya very much. With housing development nearby, the dust has been atrocious. My computers now have filters in the intake fans to keep my machines from clogging and overheating. The guitar stays in the case until required. :)

that's why i was wondering about humming. the only thing humming were the orange and cheap cables. since the stuff i used to play was more "steam" than "typewriting" (in lack of the right words) the les paul was absolutely my lady love - apart from the weight.... i found some new hobbies during the last 25 years - from the guitar to motorcycles to the pen (calligraphy) to airbrushing and finally CG. but guitar and bikes are more or less dead for me.....
Noooo.... not wireless!!! :) I love the idea of no cords to entangle yourself in, but good wireless systems that a) retain quality signal and b) counter extraneous EM noise are very expensive. If you are playing out, worth every penny. But for my home playing, not worth it - even with a SoftTail. ;P
I've tried several wireless systems and I could always hear the difference between them and a hardwire cord - even a not-very-quality cord. Plus there's battery life. I have no guitar equipment dependent upon batteries these days. When I practice/play, it's usually for several hours at least. My last wireless system (which was expensive), couldn't always make it. Every time I purchase one, I end up selling it not long afterwards. ::

That is the free emotiguy figure from Daz3d. You can make him into all kinds of things with the morphs that users have been making available. Looks kinda like the MM's dudes eh? He is fully poseable and animates in Poser and Daz Studio. I believe MIMIC works on him as well.

I've just put a render in the Rhino Gallery of a Wah-Wah pedal I built and "Poserized" and I'm thinking about building a few more.

First off a warning, the file sizes would be pretty large 'cos I tend to get carried away with the details sometimes, but would there be any interest if I bashed out a few?
Oh, second warning, they won't be done "tomorrow" ~lol~ I'm thinking Christmas or there abouts.
