When my older brother was at Nottingham Uni in the mid 70s, I used to go and stay with him; he had Rodney Matthews posters all over the place and I used to love 'em...I just bought two of his books off Ebay recently. Roger Dean was The Man, though but....!

Quote - Anyone know who wrote the Poser article in it? Was it you Phil? :)
The five-page article is indeed credited to Mr Phil Cooke! My own regular Poser Q&A column in that august publication this month is on how to use the Hair Room to make fur - therefore two Poser articles (and a review of Poser Pro 2010) in one mainstream CG magazine - not bad!

3D Artist has a regular monthly Poser tutorial page - nothing earth-shattering, but you might pick up an idea or two....shameless plug as it's me that writes the Poser tutorials!

Thread: Using multiple monitors - is it an advantage? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have a 28" widescreen LCD, which I treated myself to when I sold some work recently. I swear I had it more than 3 months before I realised that I could also be using the 19" LCD I had relegated to a box under the desk...! I can't imagine going back to a single monitor now. In Poser/Photoshop you can have your libraries on the second monitor. Also I just found out that my Vista widgets which show temperatures and CPU useage, which always disappear under Poser, work just fine on the second monitor, so I can actually see them while rendering.

Thread: Is there any way to cancel a Background Render in PP2010? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Top right of the render window - three icons- the left one should be a picture of a camera, which is usually the "render" button. When rendering in the background it should have a red "X" on it - click this to cancel a render.

Until I read this thread, I never even knew that you could render motion blur with Poser - thanks very much - it was just what I needed for the wings, which would have been a right old pain to do in post:

now go and do some math ;)
Core + modules vs just buying the program complete.
last time I worked it out... was way cheaper to avoid the modules and just buy the complete program ;)
Good for you and your mighty "rig". Oh, and there's an "s" in "maths", as in "arse"..

I would keep the price as it is, as I guess it's about right, sell a single version, but give the user the chance to switch off any modules they don't want/need/use, that way they could customise Poser and stop it hogging resources for features they don't often use, but can still access them when/if they need them.
Failing that, do as they do with Vue, sell a core version for a reasonable price, and allow the user to add modules as they need them.
I've used Poser for 10 years, but have only ever used the Face and Cloth Rooms when I was asked to write a magazine tutorial about each. I used the Hair Room a couple of times.

Jeez....had to happen, I guess, I hope he's with his beloved Ellie once again. He was easily the biggest influence on my work, and one of the greatest artists in any medium, ever. I never met him, but I'm gonna miss him, and the world is a poorer place without him. An astonishing man.My

I did something similar for a tutorial in 3D Artist magazine, using a primitive square prop; once the simulation had run, I exported/imported the prop as an obj model:

Thread: OT-- Inquiry to my UK friends here | Forum: Bryce
I'm from a small town almost exactly midway between Sunderland and Newcastle; I know the area very well. Newcastle have the better football team; let's get that out of the way up front...!
Newcastle is THE number one party town in the UK; the social life there is second to none, and as the crow flies it's not far at all from Sunderland. The Bryster is spot-on in his assessment of the social deprivation up there; it's not in your face, but if you've never seen it before, it can come as a bit of a culture shock. Having said that, most of the UK north of Birmingham could be described in similar terms. If she's into nature and history, she's in for a treat, Northumberland is breathtaking and not far away. Rail links nowadays are excellent and my wife will tell you in no uncertain terms that Newcastle is THE place to shop.

Quote - Frazetta all the way... And your render would please him, I think. Fantastic! Luscious body morphs? Where? What character did you use? Sorry. This is sooo reminiscent of the master artist that I'm more than intrigued...
The morph set comes from Daz - for V4, it's called "Luscious Curves". Definitely Frazetta.
