Modo's sculpting tools and UV tools are very good. UI is very intuitive, and very customizable. the usual poly modelling tools are easy to identify and use.
i had Hexagon for 3 yrs before i bought 401, and i made NOTHING! within 2 days of installing Modo , i was making simple props.
all in all, it is an excellent application. :))

Thread: Vicky 6 vs Vicky 5 vs SP3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - Interesting. SP3 defnitely bends better in your images. (And is V6 really that much taller than the others?)
Would be interesting to see how they look in DAZ Studio.
V6 arms up in DS.
broken arms? why haven't the collars moved up. even V4 default has better 'Arms-up' posing.
Thread: Is there a way to set up a Material to load on its intended zones automatically? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
save the eye surfaces as a .mc6.
ie, apply the .mt5 to the eyes mat zones, then save back to the library as a.mc6. unticking ALL but the eye surfaces when the pop-up asks you which you want to save, as a material, or a materials collection (.mc6).
once saved back, double clicking on ther thumb will load ONLY the eye surfaces to the figure. the rest of the texture will be unchanged.
edited for spelling
Thread: Join chat while working, ask questions, share info - http://chat.renderosity.com | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
actually, chat has ALWAYS been about socializing with like minded people. the old chat even invited people to pop in and have a chinwag with friends.
as many noobies could tell you, we will help anyone who pops in with an issue they may be having with Poser, or any 3D or 2D app.
we help each other, and anyone who comes in and is FRIENDLY is welcomed. we share works, and works in progress. but having a self-confessed 'image collector' ( being polite) in the room discourages people from sharing their work.
unfortunately, the atmosphere that has been generated in chat means that myself and a few others will not be using it while an unwelcome guest is squatting.

double -click on the dial name, a menu pops up that you can change the dial sensitivity with.( smaller numbers for more delicacy)
Thread: content implications of move PC to MAC | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
if your Poser P9 was a download, not a hardcopy. you will likely have to re-purchase P9 as a Mac version, unless you bought the extended download service.
only the boxed Poser discs come with both Mac and PC versions.
as BB said, copy your runtimes over to an external drive. a new mac should recognize it straight away. then its just a matter of linking the runtimes to the library.
Thread: How can I save a MAT in the pose library that changes the entire body texture? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
you cannot, you have to save as a material collection, then convert to a.pz2 in a text editor.
although there is a python script/plug-in that will make .pz2s and .ds files from within Poser.
look for 'MatPoseWriter' over at RDNA.

good rigging is a bit more involved than that, you have to rig to minimise texture stretch and mesh distortion in posing.
using the figures dev rig is a good start, but you nearly always have to tweak actual grouping and the fall-offs.
also, the mesh needs to be denser where the joints actually bend.

lol! if you think it is simple/easy,wait until you come to the rigging.........................
Thread: Help me: delete a material | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
get 'Notepad ++' , great text editor, and free.
also has a great search/replace function :))
Thread: Help me: delete a material | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
open the file in a text editor, run a search for the material name, delete it, then save the file.
