someone said they got an email about all this upgrading and stuff. I've been here since day 1... have no email. There is nothing official that I can see about buying or getting free upgrade for P11 standard users to Pro 11.2. there is the early adapter program, which i signed up for, but it would not install and I have no time for messing with it. What i see in the store is the upgrade to Pro 11 for $99. That's at https://www.posersoftware.com/. The Poser 11 Pro product here at Renderosity has never had Poser 11 standard listed as one of the products you could upgrade from. It will upgrade though. I tried it a couple of times..just need to input your serial number.

i have not seen official word that it is free...what i was referring to is what i quoted, that we had to upgrade to pro or our older stuff would not work any longer. i used standsard as i didnt want to buy pro...still dont, but if thats the only product, what choice is there?

this surely sucks overall. I have P11 Standard and had no intention of Pro ... But now its either upgrade to pro or quite using Poser altogether, as the version will no longer work? way to go rendo losing half your customer base.

The update will be free for all Poser PRO 11 users. Poser 11 standard edition has been phased out and only the Pro version will be available going forward. IF you are using Poser 11 Standard, you need to upgrade to Poser PRO 11 on the Renderosity marketplace.

If you are a current Poser 11 PRO user, the update will cost you nothing.

does this mean those of us that use Poser 11, or back, standard edition, not Pro, will have to BUY the pro version? will the standard version even be supported going forward?

as someone that has been here since day 1, this is extremely exciting. I have stopped using Poser and moved to DS, but this gives me hope Poser will get the enhancements needed. I like Poser a lot overall, and really want it to succeed.

Why is there no fireworks on the main page about this acquisition. its pretty low key overall

I was just asking about uninstalling all my DS content because of the problems encountered with installation of products. I have stuff spread into all sorts of different directories and sub-directories. Cant find products, missing files, etc etc... It is because of the different naming used, misspelled directories, and so forth. I will check this installer out.

Have you talked about it over in the DAZ forums? If so, I totally missed it.

i really love the history of Poser, and DAZ .

i dont remember any textures or anything for P1 figures ... Its hard to remember way back 20+ years ago ... I think it was Poser 4 that really got momentum with free items , actually here, or it was the other site PFO, that became this one, that really started the ball rolling. my history is fading.

I can't run Poser 4 any more without faffing about with virtual machines, but in my installation (which is more or less 'out of the box') the Poser 1 figures are, counter-intuitively, in the character:Poser 2Lo library. Their geometries are in maleOrig and femaleOrig and yes, they are different to the Poser 2 people. The Poser 1 man has all of 2997 polygons. 8)

I loaded them up last night, after reading this. Makes you wonder how Poser ever got off the ground, looking at the early figures. I'd have taken one look and thought "Sheesh! My cat could do better than that."

yes, thats where i was kind of going with my question. the reason Poser came into existence was as an artists tool/subject ... the evolution has been tremendous. Do you think Larry Weinberg envisioned it becoming what it now is?

Don't stop there check out ,zBrush ,Unity ,Modbox ,3Dcoat ,Unreal ,C4D ,Maya n the rest of the app's that Poser n DAZ is a plugin for. CGI is not a very little box of hate , , .There's a entire universe of magic out there.

I dont do any of that stuff..other than pose in poser and render ... do some postwork if i think it will help the look of it. I've been using Poser sonce V1 pretty much exclusively. there is something just "off" with the looks, the textures of Pauline and Paul ..and most of the stock Poser figures. maybe its my renders, but I've never really liked them overall, from way back.

well, Pauline 2 on left ..they look like twins to me ..what is the supposed difference of the two models.?
