Thread: Why would this happen? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
lesbentley,
Thank you for the advice.
"Use external binary morph targets" is already off in General Preferences.
Yes, this is a DAZ figure, namely Michael 2.
I will check for a bodyMorphs actor tomorrow.
Thanks again.
Thread: A hypothetical question.... | Forum: Bryce
I love when people see one of my better images and ask, "What program did you do this in?" I tell them it was done in Bryce and sometimes I'll get an incredulous response, and I tell them, "Sorry. But there it is. I can show you a screenshot if you want."
Just like a very well known Poser character I have. People will ask me what figure I used to make him and I answer, "Michael 2". I laugh when they answer, "Impossible. No way."
Sorry, but there he is.

I have often fantasized about some of the best Bryce images being posted in the snob galleries. I think I'd wait for someone to say, "See, now you could never do this in Bryce", and then let them know the truth.
Thread: OT: OMG...earthquake!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I was reading the other thread here when the quakes struck the San Francisco area a few minutes ago. That was surreal. See my post in the other thread about the earthquake.
Thread: Was it just me or did everyone else here just feel that earthquake? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I must say, that was freaky. I had just finished watching YouTube videos of the quake back east and came back to read more of this thread. I felt the house "bump" and then I could hear things moving, almost shaking. The house creaked, and then BUMP, and the shaking started. I grabbed my desk (That's sad...the earth shakes and the first thing I think of is to save my computer. To heck with me, but save the computer.) Within a few seconds, it was over. Looks like it was the Hayward fault or one of the smaller ones in the East Bay. I'd estimate it was about a 3.5 on the Richter scale.
As someone said here or in another thread, oftentimes, by the time you realize it's an earthquake, it's over. Thus, it was kind of a thrill when my brother and I were little. If the quake lasted long enough for us to realize what was happening, we'd look at each other, our eyes wide, and we'd smile and say, "OOoooooo! An earthquake!" And that's how it was for me for years and years. I was the one that always felt the tiny ones and I'd go around to family members saying, "Did you feel it? Did you feel it?" While it lasted, it was a surreal, wondrous experience.
Until 1989. I was in the gym in an office building. The shaking began as usual and then, I'll always remember this, it was as if the earth shifted gears. This was not shaking now. This was violent lurching from side to side. I could see myself in the mirrors. I had to squat down and hold onto the drinking fountain to keep my balance. The weight stacks rocked back and forth. The blinds swung out and then came back to slap the windows. The door I'd propped open closed by itself. An entire rack of dumbbells hit the windows and then tipped over onto the floor right where I'd been doing some stretching one minute before.
Now when there's a quake, there's just fear. I just hold my breath and ask God to make it stop.
LOL. Once when we were little, there was a quake and my brother and I were amazed and I looked up at the sky and said, "I hope it gets bigger!" And it got SO BIG! We went down on our hands and knees and screamed, "Okay! Okay! Okay! Big enough! Okay!"

Thread: What would cause my saved poses to be corrupt? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I just finished reinstalling Poser 7, Poser Pro 2010, and Norton because it was acting weird too. I wanted to reinstall Poser 7 to see if the same thing happens there.
The saved poses work fine in Poser 7 with all iterations of my saved character. Therefore I would think it safe to say that it is not the pose file that is corrupt.
In Poser Pro 2010, the pose STILL adds morph targets that were not saved with the original pose. It only does it on older versions of the character though. The most recent one can be posed and morphed etc. and when I apply that pose, all the morphs revert to the state I saved in the pose without mysterious intruder morphs appearing.
So I thought, maybe the CR2's of the older figures became corrupt, but they work fine with the pose in Poser 7, so....?
This all started when I set the program back to the factory state a few days ago. Everything was working fine until then. I guess the only thing for me to do, besides working in Poser 7, is to use the most recently saved version of that character, which seems to be immune to the phantom morphs, and re-clothe him with every outfit and save him again. Sigh. That's a lot of morph brushing, magnet making, and adjusting to do.
Things like this bug me. I want to know WHY it happened.
Thread: OT...Sort of... | Forum: Bryce
There is a daily limit to the amount of items you can download, but in my experience it's quite generous.
I've encountered some problems on a few of the models I've downloaded though. The first problems is in the way they are grouped. Sometimes the object is one solid group so texturing different parts of it is impossible.
The other problem is that sometimes the objects, if they are multiple groups, import with parts moved, reversed, or missing. It then becomes something of a challenge, sort of like putting a puzzle back together and figuring out what, if anything, got flipped, rotated, etc.

This is weird.
Some further explanation.
Adapting clothes to the morphed figure I made is very difficult, so what I do is, rather than save the morphed/magnetized clothes, I just save a new version of the figure wearing that conformed outfit. So I have several copies of the figure, each one wearing a different outfit.
And of course I have a copy of the figure wearing nothing.
If I apply the pose to the clothed figures, I get the corrupt pose with the morph targets that I didn't include. But when I apply the pose to the unclothed figure, it's fine. It works. I can pose the unclothed figure and change its morphs and whatnot to the extreme and when I apply the pose it changes back into its original shape like it's supposed to.
But when I apply the the same pose to one of the clothed figures, I get misshapen feet and hands and arms, etc. Could it be that the CR2's of those figures are corrupt?
I'm afraid I can't send any pose or geometry info on the figure as the character is co-owned by another entity and I don't have permission to release anything to the public.
Well, I'm in the process now of doing a complete backup of my runtime as well as other files. After that, I think I'll uninistall Poser Pro 2010 and Poser 8 and reinistall them. I still have Poser 7 and tried to bring it up to see if the problem showed up there but when I went to launch it I got a message saying that Windows couldn't launch Poser 7 because a .dll file was missing and that reinstalling the program would probably fix it. So I'll uninstall Poser 7, reinstall it, and then see if the problem shows up there too.
Any hints on doing a thorough uninstall?

I did a search and found out how to delete the preferences files.
I also updated to the latest video driver.
That did the trick. Thank you all!
