Interesting effect. Looks like OpenGL's hardware shading is trying to handle a masked displacement that covers and exposes parts of the surface. The hardware shading doesn't do very well.
Here's my Arcade Hotel, which uses a similar technique, in OpenGL with hardware shading on, then rendered in Firefly.

Thread: Issues Applying Materials to Object. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It looks like the UV map of the mesh doesn't match the shape, or hasn't been formed. UV on a shape like a shoe can be tricky anyway, because it's not close to a cylinder or a plane or a sphere.
I'd suggest separating the mesh into Groups or Materials at the same lines where the real leather would have seams. The upper central section would then be a simple curved plane, and the wrapped part between the upper and the sole would be three nearly planar pieces. The seams are designed to allow each piece of leather to assume a one-dimensional curve, and they'd do the same for the UV.

Onan is also a popular brand of generators and other construction equipment. One of the few old-fashioned brands that hasn't been neutered lately.

Don't worry, I owe you some 'value' after using your Daleks often!

Thread: Does anyone know how to make a spiral track, as on a vinyl record? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you can tolerate concentric, there's a record in my Broadcasting set with a fairly fine set of concentric circles plus spiral leadin and leadout. It's a bump map.

You have permission to use the record or the map.

Thread: new render engine? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Interesting. I never noticed the Path Palette! I use tracked or pathed movement often for trains and neurons and currents. I've built a variety of PYs to accomplish specific types of tracking. Even if I'd noticed the internal feature, I probably would have continued using my custom scripts, so I won't be bothered by its removal.
The bigger question, which Bondware still hasn't answered, is BUGS. HAVE THEY FIXED ANY GODDAMN BUGS AT ALL? Doesn't sound like it.

The web seemed to be especially twitchy yesterday. Several solid websites were giving mysterious errors.

Thread: Having an issue with "Replace Body Part With Prop" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yup. You've found the best trick. 'Replace with prop' never did work well. I remember trying it a few times and giving up. Smartprops work nicely, and save with the figure nicely.

Thread: Selling Poser Content - Viability | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You can probably make more money (but not a lot) by using Poser or Daz graphics as part of a separate product. Books, comics, courseware (my specialty), graphics for use in court cases. There's a huge range of uses, depending on your own specialized experience and skills in OTHER areas. The internal market, selling stuff to other Poser/Daz users, seems to be pretty well occupied.

@Jenn, that's good to know. Mergers and transitions often lose or delete such information.

Thread: Uploading morph to library distorts lips in multiple models | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thread: Uploading morph to library distorts lips in multiple models | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
That's weird. Normally this problem occurs when you try to modify the lips in an external modeling program, and accidentally select part of the lower lip along with the upper. The fix is to start with the lips very slightly open so you can select without overlap.
But if this is happening on the original models, before you've tried to modify them, it may indicate a similar defect in the originals???

Thread: OBJ imports: @Y/@Z rotation tied, crosstalk between 'backfacing' settings | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You mention that YZ are tied after setting Xrot to -90. This is classic Gimbal Lock. The basic problem is that we only need two rotations to reach all angles. Poser and other graphics programs use various tricks (like Body and Hip serving the same purpose) to fakely allow three rotations, but there really aren't three rotations.

Thread: Preview doesn't look like render | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ditto what Kerya says. All of those 'visible' boxes need to be checked for normal situations. The two on the right can be unchecked for special setups like removing an item from mirrored reflections. It's possible that the script unchecks them for some reason, or maybe you saved the character after accidentally unchecking.

Also, you could look at the script itself and see if the hardcoded location is visible in the top area, among the 'import' statements. If it's there, and it's different from your current actual filepath, just change it to the correct file path.
