Thread: idea for carrara 6, haha so early =P | Forum: Carrara
Worst idea ever and the Carrara pricing is very fair and some of us are trying to get away from the "ROOMs" interface., please.
I vote NO on this one.
Quote - ok had an idea, software is made to be great in some areas, not so great in others
and having all the best stuff in 1 program, drives up the cost, when often a buyer
is getting stuff he/she will never need/useso my idea was, since carrara is already headed down the path of allowing programmers
to create parts for it, why not make carrara 6 work even farther along that path? create a basic
program, which would be free, and has no accual parts to it, just serves as "dock" for all
the other parts that will be created, to work inso then assembly room, texture room, animation room, cloth room, etc
are all created as plugins, so you can buy just ones you want, and no need to export
things to another program, and different grades of each room can be created as well
allowing people to create other types of modellers, texture rooms, etc, which can then
be easily loaded in, and used
Thread: It will be the C4D Forums in the future... | Forum: Carrara
The special will only last until the end of may it will not be forever $1.99 and DAZ has just more than double the Hexagon userbase.ย It is good marketing.
I also don't think Maxons offer is going to be that good of deal. Tell me is it better thanย me having ot upgradeย my C4D rev 8 aย full bundle to C4D Rev 9.5 for $1,200.00 bucks not including the new Hair module thatย will cost $495?ย Man such a great deail.

Quote - I'm not "blasting" DAZ, and I'm not sure that the DAZ deals can be separated from the Eovia deals -- since the Eovia Management team is now with DAZ.ย I'm simply voting in the democratic marketplace.
I was with Fractal Design/Metacreations/Eovia for years. ย Right now (never say never) I'm through with all the nonsense.ย The special DAZ Platinum deal for Hex 2 is possibly good marketing โ just possibly, since it might turn Hex 2 into a semi-shareware product.ย But this is an inverted model.ย The rule is that excellent shareware products eventually become for-sale only products.ย Iโm now concerned that the commitment to a constant improving of Hex and Carrara will take back seat to using them as DAZ marketing tools.ย If your main concern is content sales, then this will take Hex and Carrara out of the tough 3D application competition that drives constant improvement, as content sales will relieve that necessity.ย The dramatically reduced price for Hex 2, for Platinum Club members, is already evidence of that happening.
No matter how cheap the 3D tools become, there is a very limited market for any of them.ย You will not see many C4D or Rhino users switching, because Hex and Carrara will become so cheap they will simply add them to their tool box.ย They will be too busy creating with their main tools they spent years getting comfortable with to switch.ย The cost of a 3D application is one thing, but the investment in time tends to be the biggest factor in going to a new 3D application.
This โseeding" plan may backfire, as those who paid top$$ for their product tend to be the more committed, hardcore users. ย Many of those who purchase the $1.99 PC Hex2 will likely putter with it, then put it away.ย The hardcore/productive users (many who have been with Eovia for years) may be angry enough to take their future $$ elsewhere, as many of them will have little interest in joining the DAZ Platinum Club.ย I paid $100 to join the PC, but I will not join again โ certainly not to get Hex or Carrara on the cheap (if it comes to that).
I wouldn't mind it if Eovia/DAZ had recognized the fact that many DAZ PC members are Eovia customers, and acted accordingly, but they didn't bother!
I was contacted by C4D before all this dizzy DAZ/Eovia stuff started.
Thread: Hexagon 2 for 2 $ ?! | Forum: Vue
What is simple means is that Carrara will just dominate the market. ;-)
The entire development and marketing team of Eovia USAย is now working for DAZ from the MountainView offices and they will continue to develop Carrara as before. Carrara remains the Flagship application under DAZ and Hexagon 2 will also be develop. The future is very bright.

Beryld It does sound right.
If you had order hex 1ย just before Hex2 was announce you were to get Hex2 for free and that is what DAZ is going to honour.
Anyways you will be getting an email from them soon. ...even today.

What about Bob?....Bob Stockwell along with the entire Carrara developmentย and marketing team now work under the name DAZ. The offices in mountain view remain open that is were they will continue to develop and market Carrara same as before.
Bob Stockwell is a brilliant Director of Marketingย andย management heย and the entire development team are the reasons whyย Carrara and Hexagon have been doing so good. So none of that has change it will only get better..

Quote - The DAZ forum here is not a popular one since DAZ has it's own online forum.ย ย Eovia was never into having their own forum.ย Now they are reaping...
DAZ will ask, "What about Bob?" The guy that was supposed to be marketing Eovia.

Well in screen 2 it looks like you found them. See in screen 1 you had select "James" but it wasn't expanded to show the entrie tree. In your second screen it is expanded so there you have selected the correct one.
Thread: Poser 6 to Carrara 5 Native poser importer chart | Forum: Carrara
can you pull the handle in the properties tray for the hierchy so while keeping your poser figure selected. Maybe that part of the tray its hidden. I can see in your screen captures that it is way to high so it is hidding that part of the propertiestray.

bwtr. Those are found in the properties tray after you have imported a PZ3/PZZ or CR2/CRZ into C5 or C5Pro. Once imported go to the properties tray, make sure you have the Poser figure selected or they won't show. From there you can load the files that I have marked in the chart. NOTE: Hair you need to import via the files import menu not from the properties tray.

Thread: Can I Paint on geometry in Hexagon 2? | Forum: Carrara
Attached Link: http://hexablog.eovia.com/video/hex2_napoleothon.mov
It is not a render time displacement map as you can see in the video clips it happens in realtime and it is displacing the geometry. But the question was can you displace soo much that you endup with horns? Well it would be faster to just extrude the horn and use the displacement mapping/realtime displacement to add the details like in this video. http://hexablog.eovia.com/video/hex2_napoleothon.mov So yes it does add geometry that is why you model can be of large polygon count. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
