Bill, wow, it's great! Thank you. I'll hop into Free Stuff and grab it. Can't wait to play with it. I've been a fan of the show since the late 80's and attended the Visions convention in Chicago four times. Met several of the actors and they're great, friendly folks. This brings back such fun memories. Thanks for all your hard work. You've done a fabulous job with this. Melanie
Thread: Your choice for new characters: P4 female and male or V3 and M3? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
SeanMartin said: "The basic figures have so much potential that was never properly explored" Actually, they were used and explored extensively before Mike and Vicki came along. That's all we had to work with at one time, so everything was Posette and Dork. Some folks pushed them to an unbelievable level. And yes, with the right textures, even "Dork" can look good. I haven't used either of them in years. I work exclusively with the DAZ Millennium characters now. Melanie

Just for the record, that's what Poser 1 was originally developed for, as an artist's mannequin for people to use for their classical art (painting on canvas, sketching, etc.), which is why the original figures were so crude and featureless. It was never expected to go as far as it has to the point of "photorealism." Melanie

His stuff is great. Carolly, I don't think the "complaint" was about the quality of Royloo's content, but about the huge number of them all coming in at one time. It might have been easier if Royloo had just entered one item with a site link to all of his content. Melanie

The PC items have always been listed in the Premier area, but with a higher price. I guess the exclusively PC items weren't, but I've always seen PC things in the Premier area.
I'm on dialup, but I'm not having a major problem with it. In fact, it seems to run faster than it did before. Before, I never used to let the big pictures load, I just clicked on the links to the areas I wanted, but now I don't seem to have that problem. I think it's a lot easier to get around in there now.
One thing I've noticed is that it appears that the DAZ Originals have their own category now, which is what I've been asking them to do for years.

This happens periodically. I sort of like the new look. It's going to take a bit of getting used to and finding things, but I think it looks pretty nice. Melanie

Thread: Why I can't (won't) buy the Mil Big Cat | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Darn, I had a nice long response all typed in and it went into cybervoid! Shoot! Anyway, what I was trying to say, mainly to Armorbeast, is that my gripe wasn't against DAZ, and it really wasn't a gripe at all, just a comment that I wasn't too thrilled with the way the male lion looks. I think the Poser Big Cat has great potential. Armorbeast, you wonder why DAZ charges a fee to belong to the Platinum Club. Why not? I pay a fee to belong to PoserWorld and to Traveler's Props Club. I see nothing wrong with that. A few years ago, I paid a fee to belong to Catharina's site (whatever happened to her site, anyway?). DAZ putting a fee on the Platinum Club is not unique. I still have to applaud DAZ for their customer service. I've only had very positive experinces with them. The folks there bend over backward to please their customers and I have great respect for that. The quality of their products, like art, is highly subjective. I find a majority of their products to be of superior quality. Now and then, something is a little less, but heck, when I bake cookies, not all them turn out perfect either. All in all, I'm more than pleased with DAZ and the things they give us. Unfortunately, there's no business anywhere that can please everyone all the time. It's just nature. Armorbeast, you can't compare DAZ with RDNA or Renderosity, because those are member-based sites, where DAZ is a business that produces commercial products. We can't expect pages and pages of freebies from them in the same way as Renderosity and RDNA. I never meant for this thread to become a sounding board for DAZ bashing. Everyone has a right to his or her opinion and that's what makes a community like this so great. We all have the right to speak our mind. We don't have to agree with everyone, but we certainly have the right to be honest and say what we feel. Armorbeast, I respect your opinions, even if I don't necessarily agree with them. I'm still a big DAZ fan and always will be. I've been buying from them since they were still a part of Zygote and I'll continue to buy from them as long as they're there. To Dan and all the staff at DAZ, I just want to say, keep up the great work! Now, I'm going to go work on one of my projects. :) Melanie

I'm a huge DAZ fan! Their customer relations is fantastic! Dan Farr is an amazing businessman and knows how to satisfy his customers. Look at all the freebies they give us! As for the Platinum Club, there's new stuff in there almost every day. Not all of it is something I particularly want, so I don't buy it, but there's new stuff showing up regularly. Just because I'm not interested in it doesn't mean there isn't something new. Armorbeast, when you say that it goes for months without anything new, that's only because you don't find something that you're interested in. We don't all have the same interests. It only means that nothing has been added that you wanted. I check it out daily and there's always something new, even if it's something I don't particularly want at that time. I've never regretted joining the Platinum Club. Even if a month or two goes by where I don't buy something, I've still saved a ton of money. Some of the $1.99 items I've bought were worth $30 or more, so it's still a great bargain. I just downloaded 10 free items! How can you beat that? And I got a great bargain with the Mil Teenagers with my $15 voucher. DAZ is amazing! As for the Mil Big Cat, I'm sure improvements will be coming along the way in the near future. I'll probably get it eventually, but just not right now. Melanie
Thread: Why I can't (won't) buy the Mil Big Cat | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Is there a way to make his ears larger? Maybe that would help. The lion in the photo has pretty big ears showing in front of his mane. Maybe if the DAZ lion's ears were enlarged, it would make him look more realistic. Melanie
Thread: Why I can't (won't) buy the Mil Big Cat | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually, I was looking on some websites trying to find pictures of lions and there were some comments about whether the darkness of the mane is a factor in attracting the females, so there are different colors of manes, apparently.
It's just that the Mil lion's ears seem to be way too small. The real lion has much larger ears than the Mil cat; they show in front of his mane. And the "hairline" around his face is too round. The mane should have more contour around his face. The other cats (tiger, leopard, etc.) look pretty good. It's just the lion who doesn't make the grade for me and he's the one I would really want it for.
Well, if they ever upgrade it, I may buy it, but until it looks more realistic, I think I'll pass on it. Especially, since I have Poser 4 and can't do dynamic hair or displacement maps. I don't plan to upgrade Poser yet, either, until my bank account is a bit healthier.

I believe the low-res Vicki was offered on the cover CD of one of the 3D magazines (3D World, maybe?) some months ago. Maybe they have a back issue you could buy. The magazine is only $13.95 and you get a lot of goodies on the CD that comes with it. Anyone know what month that low-res Vicki was offered? Melanie

Thanks, Robert, for the help. I got in. I still can't get their front page, though. Melanie
Thread: Is DAZ down? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I really need to get to my account page. I have to download my ten freebies before they expire. I'm on dialup and downloading is slow, so I need until next Thursday's deadline to get it all downloaded. I'm sure they'll reset the downloads for me, but I still want to get them. It was still now as of a few minutes ago for me. Melanie

However, if I read DAZ's info about the upcoming Bryce 6 correctly, it's going to have PZ3 import capabilty soon as well. That will make importing Poser people into Bryce very much easier.
At the present time, bringing Poser into Bryce requires a lot of tweaking with the textures and transparency.
Also, you said you have Poser 4. You can change the way your figure looks on the screen with the buttons right on your working area (shaded, wireframe, etc.). Please see the attached image. I hope this helps some. By the way, welcome to the Poser universe. You'll be hopelessly hooked on it soon. :)
